What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Been carrying this since I got it.

Hot Sunday.

Great picture, Bob! Love that jack, beautiful knife.

I had an excellent walk thanks Randy :) I think it was Charlie who left this one! :D ;)

Nice collection my friend, hope you've had a lovely day :)

Beautiful scenery, Jack. Looks like you had a rather spectacular hike, and the pint at the end sure puts a nice cap on it.

I have these two with me today. A quiet Sunday so far.

Thank you my friend, VERY, VERY close, Froggatt Edge :)

Crikey! I shock myself! So I guess that's Horseshoe Quarry in the distance? (I'm looking at my O.S map and notes to remind myself here). I've not been at that specific point for years but I did Higgor Tor and Stanage Edge out of Hathersage last winter.

Off Carl Wark. Kinder in the distance.

Thanks a lot Dylan, those two go well together :) Hope you had a good day

Well done my friend  It is a surprisingly long time since I was last on Froggatt myself, I wish I still had my old climbing guide with my route records. Excellent pics, Carl Wark has always been a favourite spot of mine, I used to sleep out there regularly as a young 'un, and will be walking there later this week hopefully :) Stanage is, of course, a place of many of my adventures! :D The pic of my Gev-gifted Vic Climber posted earlier is also taken on Stanage :)

I'm carrying these two again today, Unity Lambsfoot and my Lick Creek Barlow :) Hope everyone who went to the GEC RV has a safe journey home, and that everyone has a good week

I quoted some posts last night to which I hoped to respond this morning, but some of them seem to have disappeared. But some remain, and I'll comment on those. ;)

Thanks, 5K. Actually, I found two of 'em. :) They're small, so I'm carrying them both today.

I also have my new Lionsteel Roundhead in carbon fiber. It doesn't have the handmade warmth of a traditional pocket knife, so I think of it more like a traditionally inspired modern slipjoint. That said, it's a very well made knife!

Auspicious trio, Rachel; congrats!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yes it a China Buck 371 e
Thanks for the ID, deltaboy.

Found room in my pockets for some old, though still green, companions today. Should get my lunch pals talking. On the left is a 3 5/8" tear drop by "Cattaraugus Cutlery Co., Little Valley, NY" and on the right is a 3 3/4" swell end by "N.C. CO. CANTON, O" - Novelty Cutlery Company, Canton, OH. Personally, I find it hard to research knives for either of these companies, but it is interesting (and I like them).

Those two are quite beguiling, Stuart!:cool::thumbsup:

I must say the canoe did not grab me until I had it in hand, now I'm a believer. I especially like the sunk joints.
...
A handsome Douk Douk GT! Is the etch on the blade rare for a DD? I've not seen that, but most DDs get heavy use and the etch is rapidly lost. Would you mind posting a photo blade opened?
...
Glad to hear that you're experiencing the charisma and charm of the canoe pattern, Tom!;)
Thanks for the Douk-Douk comment. I think the blade etch is standard, and your conjecture about it disappearing with use is probably correct; I haven't used my Douk-Douk much at all. (Who am I kidding? I barely use ANY of my knives. :() Here's a pic you requested:

oldtymer, you sure have a lot of desirable pen knives!!:cool::thumbsup:

There's a theme this weekend, can you guess what it is ;)
Yikes, an enigma! Is the theme related to a big C on the periodic table??

Thanks GT, the Squirrel is carbon, like that lovely Douk-Douk of yours :)
...
I've been carrying my Unity Lambsfoot today, together with my faithful #66, and a Manly Patriot, not the new member of the Village People, but a bargain-priced FB I got from Bulgaria a few months back ;) Hope everyone is having a great weekend

Thanks for the Squirrel info and D-D compliment, Jack. :)
Your pockets look to be filled with fetching knives (on whatever day you posted them):thumbsup::thumbsup:. (Your Manly Patriot remark amused me, at least! :p)

Thanks GT, yep that is ram horn. I was originally going to have some white custom scales made, but as this one is white-ish with a little character I may abandon that plan. Fantastic pair, the lanyard is super cool
...
In Chicago today for a wedding (NOT mine :) ), where I am pretty sure concealed fixed blades are a no-no, so I have these two.

Thanks for the confirmation, Tom. And thanks for the lanyard comment; next time, I think I can do a better job of braiding, but I was very happy with the "back-splicing" I did to finish off the braid (and leave a little loop for attaching a clip to attach the lanyard to a belt loop).
Great pair of "wedding knives"!:thumbsup: I hope the matrimonial couple appreciate the gallant gesture and sacrifice you made to celebrate their union!!:p

Handsome, iconic pair of Cases, Grateful!:thumbsup:

Thanks GT.
Those 72s have always peaked my interest. I hope you have a good vacation.

The 77 is in my pocket once again. I spent all day fishing and never did get a pic.
Thanks, Erik; vacation is going well (found 3 nice SAKs in flea markets, etc. up here), but fast! Never enough time to do all that we want to do. I'm not a fisherman, but I'll bet someone like you would have a great time fishing for northern pike, walleyes, and perch in Lake Huron.

Meant to post this earlier, this was my Saturday evening date night with my wife carry.

Immaculate pair and impressive pic, Jake!!:cool:

Heading out for a walk on the Derbyshire hills, and Sunday lunch in Sheffield :) Have a great Sunday folks

That black/white/red tricolor trio looks jazzy, Jack, but pales in comparison to the scenic vistas you posted from your hike!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: (My daughter and I hiked a trail in a nature preserve Sunday afternoon, but the wooded/marshy setting made it a challenge to see more than a hundred yards in any direction.)

Hot Sunday.

Hot knife and killer pic, Bob!:cool::thumbsup:

Todays carry inspired by black mamba Case stockman Modded with stag covers by my hero Glennbad.
Lovely stockman, Randy!!:thumbsup: I recognize everything in your photo except the "Victorinox cube"; what IS that gizmo??

Steve, that Böker 494 certainly is a memorable Barlow!:thumbsup:

Notable pair for sure, Dylan!:cool::thumbsup:

Curtin & Clark Cutlery (1910-1920) double end jack (3.75" closed) today.

Outstanding knife, Stuart (especially considering it's a century old )!!:thumbsup::cool:

This one winds up in my pocket 3 to 4 days a week.

Phenomenal Lloyd stag, rockman!!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I have a couple of modded Opinels with me this week.
One is a #6 whose handle I modified last summer, and consequently had to modify the blade :

The other is a #8 (thanks, Dave):

I also have a Kutmaster stockman with both springs broken, but with blades I can use to practice sharpening (thanks to Jack Black for the knife rest):

I sometimes find I lose quoted posts too GT

Cool pic of your Douk-Douk, have you seen the video of them being made?

I wish my kids were as forgiving of my sense of humour as you are my friend :) I'm afraid my cultural references get more obscure by the year! :D

Thanks for your compliment on my knives from yesterday GT, and I hope you and your daughter enjoyed your hike in spite of the claustrophobic environment :) The photos I posted yesterday were taken from one of the gritstone edges cut out by melting glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age. They run north to south down the edge of the Peak District National Park, some of which falls with the Sheffield city boundary, and are a popular haunt of rock-climbers, as well as hikers. People lived on that edge back in Mesolithic times, and there is a stone circle from that period there. Judging by the state of the path, the stone circle doesn't get many visitors these days. In fact, because of the high bracken, which covers most of the stones, it took me a while to find it myself yesterday :)

Nice to see that you're still able to get some use out of that old Stockman :) Glad the knife rests came in handy for something too! :D

Thanks GT! It was a little odd not having a fixed blade on my person, haven't done that for quite a while.
Cool carries, and a great idea for practicing your new sharpening system (a KME right?). What is the fob on the #8, it almost looks like bone or maybe antler?

I went with a theme today, M390 and carbon fiber.
