That's really cool GT. I see not a trace of it on mine. I tend to use my knives, but there's definitely something to say for keeping them in the pocket. Thanks for the Douk-Douk comment. I think the blade etch is standard, and your conjecture about it disappearing with use is probably correct; I haven't used my Douk-Douk much at all. (Who am I kidding? I barely use ANY of my knives.) Here's a pic you requested:

Very nice picture Drew and I know that it is a very nice knife that many people wished they had bought too .I really need to sit down for an hour and catch up on this thread.. so much eye candy!
My 77 Blackwood Barlow finally got a brother. Been looking for one of these for a long while. Happy Day =)

GW101, I'm mesmerized by those scales! Mammoth ivory, correct? Simply beautiful.
On the bright side, 15° CCW and that crew would have had some very angry homeowners in need of a new roof.
S3, that's a very nice photo of your well-used Barlow.Playing around with editing on a rainy day at work.![]()
Stuart, I'm hoping someone more knowledgeable will comment on the vintage. Those are some roughhewn scales. It's a nice fit with that pattern.Based on the pin placement in the handle of this knife, I'm not sure that it is a real Russell, but it's old and it's a Barlow, so it is in my pocket.

Thanks for the kind and informative comments, Jack!!I sometimes find I lose quoted posts too GT
Cool pic of your Douk-Douk, have you seen the video of them being made?
I wish my kids were as forgiving of my sense of humour as you are my friendI'm afraid my cultural references get more obscure by the year!

Thanks for your compliment on my knives from yesterday GT, and I hope you and your daughter enjoyed your hike in spite of the claustrophobic environmentThe photos I posted yesterday were taken from one of the gritstone edges cut out by melting glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age. They run north to south down the edge of the Peak District National Park, some of which falls with the Sheffield city boundary, and are a popular haunt of rock-climbers, as well as hikers. People lived on that edge back in Mesolithic times, and there is a stone circle from that period there. Judging by the state of the path, the stone circle doesn't get many visitors these days. In fact, because of the high bracken, which covers most of the stones, it took me a while to find it myself yesterday
Nice to see that you're still able to get some use out of that old StockmanGlad the knife rests came in handy for something too!

Thanks, Tom. That Opinel #8 does indeed have an antler bead on the fob. My new sharpener is the DMT Aligner with the diafold hones; KME is a bit pricey for a champion of Rough Riders like I am!Thanks GT! It was a little odd not having a fixed blade on my person, haven't done that for quite a while.
Cool carries, and a great idea for practicing your new sharpening system (a KME right?). What is the fob on the #8, it almost looks like bone or maybe antler?
I went with a theme today, M390 and carbon fiber.

Cool; I only noticed the carbon steel commonality.ell they're all carbon steel, and they're all clip point, but mostly they're all made by imperial in prov.RI.
Stupendous stockman, Mike!
Imposing jigging, Phixt!!
That's very cool, deltaboy!
Congrats, Drew; that blood red 77 Barlow is worth waiting for!!...

Thanks, Tom. I wish I had more opportunities to use my knives, but other than ones I use for food prep or for infrequent whittling, my lifestyle just doesn't seem to require much pocket knife use. That's really cool GT. I see not a trace of it on mine. I tend to use my knives, but there's definitely something to say for keeping them in the pocket.![]()
That's a top-notch 26, Travman!
Superb Böker pen knife, Rachel, and the new Barlow is certainly different!
Wow, Tom, did you get one of each cover on the Lionsteels!?!
Historic (and heavy, I'll bet!
