What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

We're rushing around, trying to get out the door for a drive to York, Maine. We'll be staying for a few days. Don't have time for a new pic but these two will be along for the ride.

To all those in Irma danger, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

York, ME? Been through there but never stopped. My ex in laws are up in Andover in western mountains. Maine is an amazing place. A two hour drive from coast to western mountains yield two completely different worlds. I got a divorce and won the in laws lol. Going up to bring their grand baby to see them next year (they are coming at Christmas time).

Warren stockman taking my steak into manageable chunks for lunch today at the old donut factory.

If the shoe fits ... :D:thumbsup:

:D  Nice Barlow GT :)

As soon as I am done here at the office, I am hitting the woods for the weekend. Hopefully a nice bull elk and/or deer will let me at least lob an arrow in their direction. It would be really nice to fill the freezers this season. These two workhorses will be accompanying me for the weekend alongside some assorted fixed blades.

Hope you have a great weekend Dylan, nice choice of pocketknives my friend

Two beauties Gary, hope you had a safe drive, and I share your sentiments about Irma

Theres a thread asking for your first GEC knife, although I can't say exactly what one for sure, I do believe I have it down to two. That said, it makes me think of the GEC I regret letting go of.

This first release of Charlie's Washington Jack is the one I regret getting rid of. The one I parted ways with was the polished stag version. Well look what arrived yesterday!!!

This arrived from a very instrumental porch member and I really appreciate his kindness in making this one available to me:thumbsup:

So today was my new 2014 polished stag Washington Jack;)

P, that FF is gorgeous. My interest is rekindled. They use carbon steel exclusively as I recall. Does your blade take much to keep it looking good?

1) They used to use O1, but now use A2 almost exclusively.

2) Evidently not?

I'm actually not the best one to ask, because I find myself wishing my A2 FF knives took on patina more readily!

@VANCE et al would be better able to answer your questions re: maintaining the 'clean' look throughout. In the meantime, what I can tell you, purely from my own use and observation, is that with basic usage and minimal care (wiping off obvious surface gunk) the A2 on my knives has just turned sorta cloudy in parts.

The FF Stubby Muk (top) has seen just slightly less use than the Freeman Forge Pocket Muk in O1.

You can see the 'clouding' on this Esquire:

For all I know, that would wipe right off with the right manner of address. I welcome patina, so I've never looked into it!

Paul that is a scarce and beautiful knife! I am glad you were able to get one to fill the void in your collection. I missed out on the Clip WJ's but I was able to gather in several of the Spears as well as the matching HJ's. They all are classical and beautifully made folders! Definitely one of, if not the best of our friend Charlies SFO's.

In the pocket today :)
