What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This was feeling lonely because I hadn't carried it in a while.

Keeping with the family tradition, Iv got an old Irish Barlow I pack around.

I got it for 2 bucks at a flea market and've been doing work on it off and on for a few months now. It's almost back to new, in terms of function.

Just sand, oil, sand, oil, etc...
Eventually I got it to where the large blade is like new. The small blade is a little reluctant still, but I won't tear off a nail opening it.

When I can I pop it in the "pocket watch pocket" . Holds a good edge for quite a while.

Only real damage came when I dropped it and the side panel popped off. Nothing serious, just epoxy and a tab to bend.

Love it.

Some of my knives for this week.
Miscellaneous Knife of the Week is a Frost Flying Falcon, usually found on my desk at work:

Watch Pocket Knife of the Week is a Case XX half-congress (thanks, leghog), also usually on my work desk:

Thanks for the king comments, GT, and I like all of those knives, but the Colt is special.

Ahhh, old redbone Case and an old winterbottom bone Queen - your post made me go looking for these two oldies. Both have much sentimental value to me. Thanks!

Yes, that is what I was talking about, Wayne. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing them.

A prairie walk with our brown Australian Shepherd Mocha. She's a runner so we slowly train up on the prairie without the leash:thumbsup:

Carried a favorite yellow Day's Work on a GORGEOUS fall like day:cool:

Beautiful dog, Paul! (Good looking knife, too!) :D

Nice pics Paul. Mocha looks like she has a lot of energy. That yellow Days Work is beautiful. This is how I found Woody yesterday. He doesn't look comfortable, but he's out cold in this pic. Lol

That's funny, Bob! Our lab, Maggie, likes to lie around the house upside down. (Obviously she's awake here, but she'll sleep like that, too.) :D

Pretty pair, Barrett!:thumbsup: What's your beef with the 92's covers??

Thanks, GT! I've seen examples of GEC's Goldenrod jigged bone with nice depth and color variation (dark/light) that look great -- the recent run of Goldenrod Tidioute #25 Barlows, for example -- but the color of the bone on that #92 just feels a bit flat to me.

I sharpened this one up for the first time yesterday and dropped it in my pocket this morning. I didn't expect the Burlap Micarta to be one of my favorites from his run of #25's, but I'm really happy with it. (Recycled photo from when I first received the knife, because I forgot to take one today.)

Characterful coupling Gev :)

Here's a recent ball glove-related photo of mine:

Thanks, Jack. :) I suppose that my weekend was "productive", but I probably wouldn't call it "great"! ;)

Nice pic of a great-looking knife GT  Yeah, I know those kind of weekends, think I have one coming up myself

Bonny brace of folders, Jack!!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks pal

Very cool colors, Tom & H&S!!:cool::thumbsup: Do you know this Hitchcock movie?
"Stop the colors!"

That looks good Barrett :)

I'm carrying this one today

Those older flat grind Bucks are fantastic knives Jer:cool::thumbsup:

ICON, Jer!!:cool: I have a perfectly fine Buck 371, but a classic black Valox Buck 301 is still on my "bucket list".

Thank you Gents. I've been looking for one for a long time, hampered by my stinginess. This is one of about four I've seen in antique stores, and is in the best condition and was the lowest price. ($35 for it and the Tungsten together.) I might still need a couple of Buck-made versions.

The rotation for the next three days

Case and Queen/Schatt & Morgans are a favorite pairing of mine, this one made even nicer by the Winterbottom bone. Too bad the muskrat was made in a batch of 30-only (but good for you). I think that I have a Case 047 somewhere, though not in as nice of a condition than that muskrat.

Schatt and Morgan is rocking the traditional knives lately. Some really great stuff coming out of their shop. Where else can you get a pocket knife with super steel, like D2, if that's your thing?

And of course Case always seems to pop out some nice traditionals, among all their varied and sundry inventory.
