Fair pair, Jack!! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup: (Dr. Unity, I presume? :rolleyes:) Thanks for judging my knives "interesting"! :):thumbsup:

It's 3-1/2 in. closed and very slim. I'm not familiar with all the options either, just assumed they called it a squirrel because it's small. If there's a larger version, they should call it a marmot or prairie dog. ;) :D

:):thumbsup:
As far as I know, the Squirrel only comes in one size :thumbsup:
I spent a little time investigating, and there are at least two sizes of Squirrel: the river site says 3 1/8" and 4 3/8". The Squirrel model I have is definitely over 4 inches closed. (On the other hand, I have the small version of the "standard" Douk Douk, 3 3/8 instead of 4 3/8).

Splendid Barlow, Steve! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: Is Old Cutler a Colonial brand?

Hunting season is around the calendar's corner, so it's time to start checking on the gear. Buck Model 119 (circa early 1980's) and Case Pattern 65 SAB Hunter (1940-1964). Both will get carried today, though the Case a bit more. I may use my 65 from 2013 during the season, but I wanted the older one to see some sunlight as a vote of confidence.

Those folding hunters like yours look good to me, Stuart, but I don't know what I'd use it for. But I probably should sometime get an example of the pattern! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Exquisite ebony, xceptnl!! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:

Grand knife, Dschal!! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: And I'll bet relief from the heat is on its way; after 6 days in the 90s, we topped out in the low 70s today, and I'll put on a jacket to take the dogs out in a few minutes!

Hammer Brand equal end,punched stockman/cattle knife.

5K Qs 5K Qs I like that Rough Rider trapper, GT. A strapping, good looking knife. It will probably do most of what the Case folding hunter I posted (65 SAB) can do, though not as beefy (or heavy). Thanks for the compliment on the Case pair. The one on the top is a Pattern 30 from 1920-1940, the one below is a younger Pattern 47 from 1978.

(Added 9/30/2017. After further research, I believe the top knife is a variation on the Pattern 53 equal end cattleman's knife and not a pattern 30, which is an equal end pen knife. Both the 30 and 53 patterns have been discontinued for some time and information on them is spotty. My knife does not have a pattern stamp on it. The dating is correct, though)

GT, I'm not too familiar with the Squirrels. What is the handle finish? (The background piece is equally intriguing although I know not what it is.)
