Can't beat a well executed Splitback Whittler, a good Seahorse Whittler is a great and functional multiblade knife too. Not to mention, makes a great whittler. ;)

Josh, all this talk about whittlers I went and grabbed my GEC Cuban Cigar Whittler and gift from Dopic1. This is a great meaty whittler, I like the way it fits my hand.

How's the F&F on that Schatt? Like the carpenter's whittler style.

Thanks, Will
The fit and finish on the S&M is pretty nice. It is a true splitback whittler. The pull on the blades is pretty stiff. It is a little thicker than the German Parker. The blades are pretty sharp, but need a little work
The parker has a lighter pull, and the plastic scales don't have as nice F&F, and it isn't a splitback. The blades are thinner, and the main blade sits all the way up between the tangs of the secondary blades. The main blade of the S&M ends before the tangs of the secondary blades while closed, so it has a shorter blade compaired to its handle length.

Thank you, The Schatt is on my lookout list, I like the frame and the Sheepfoot master. May give it a try but they do seem quite expensive.

Very cool photo of that 26, Travman - really accentuates the sleeveboard pen knife pattern!:thumbsup:

This Camillus scout hasn’t seen the light of day for a while.

Terrific twosome, Tom, and it's good to see one of your tandem sheaths again!:cool:

Very vibrant, verdant photo, Jack!:cool::cool: Based on the amount and color of the foliage reflected in the water, may I assume the pic wasn't taken at the flea market today?? ;)

Gary, you just gave me the idea for a custom rat rod style Higo ( flat black with pin striping on the handle and a well patinaed blade.)

Nice knife, Greg, and I was going to express my curiosity about a new-to-me crossword puzzle format, but I guess I must have seen it before about 366 days ago!:cool::thumbsup::rolleyes:

I've got a Buck 119 coming so I may be a bit over knifed for a while but I'm definitely going to continue with both these wonderful blades like I planned.
Looking forward to seeing your new Buck, H&S.:thumbsup: (I'm not sure "over knifed" is even a thing! :p)

Today, 6th December is a National Holiday here in Finland as it's Independence Day. This year 2017 is special as it marks 100 years of being an independent Republic.

So today, it seems appropriate to carry a small puukko and here is an honour awarded to me by the President of the Republic, Sauli Niinistö

Lovely knife, Will; congratulations to you and your country on the centennial!!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: Should we be referring to you as Sir Will, of the Order of the Lion of Finland?? Very impressive!

Nice pairing Dylan :) What is Blade Rap?

Thank you, Jack. I assure you, Blade Rap is not referring to any musical ventures I might be entertaining... :D

Rather it is the term that is used in regards to the occurrence when the edge meets the swell/hump of the back spring inside the blade well when closing the knife. Usually results in a chipped or dinged blade when the user is not aware of this and snaps the knife closed. I wasn't aware of this and have opened and closed the knife a number of times simply because the action overall is so pleasing. As a result, I got a bit of a chip in the edge and I can see where it is hitting the back spring inside.

It will eventually sharpen out and there will come a time when I can enjoy its fine walk and talk again without fear of blade damage, but until then, I will just close it more carefully.

I think I got that term right, I merely capitalized it to add some dramatic flair to my statement.
