What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This one came in from @mshambone today. The last knife I will receive until 2018. What a nice knife to end the year with. Thanks Matt.

Good looking knife and great picture!

The other day I rediscovered my Case chestnut bone CV sowbelly, I really like the way this knife sits in hand and in the pocket. I don't currently have a photo host and haven't yet figured out how to create an album here yet, so sorry for the lack of a pic. When PBucket held all my photo's hostage, I went in and deleted everything...all gone.

Here is a very traditional Sheepfoot Barlow designed by Trevor Ablett and made by Michael May in Sheffield using Ablett’s patterns and tools. Michael May sourced local Yorkshire Maple for the handle. I can easily imagine someone using a knife like this hundreds of years ago, yet the ergonomics are great and it fits perfectly in the pocket.

Thanks Jeff, I surely will not wear it out. I like the chunky brass bolsters. Michael May used a stainless blade on this knife, which some would not prefer. However, Michael's workshop is in the Portland Works in Sheffield where stainless was invented over 100 years ago. So even that choice of metal works for me with this knife. In addition, I have so many carbon blades that I appreciate not having to worry about this one rusting.

Thanks Gentlemen She facing a 3rd Battle with Cancer this time in the bladder! We been walking in and out of this Valley since Dec 2015.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife. Like many, my wife and I have been through this and I’d like to share a thought that came from an old college friend ...

Cancer sucks! As you face this journey, laugh when you can, cry when you need to, and know that you are never alone.

God bless you!
John

- lovely looking folder and great pic, Leslie

Really hope MM has upped his game, the last one of his folders I handled was, sadly, primitive in fit n finish............I'd dearly love some Sheffield makers to make desirable stuff

Nice knife Leslie, but your buddy isn't very impressed.
