What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I told myself this beauty would stay in the tube but couldn’t do it .

Amazing stripes on that one. It's beautiful. Don't blame you wanting to carry it around where you can see it. :)

Saturday chores put me about 24 hours behind on this thread!:rolleyes:
Those are both winning hands, Alan!:thumbsup:

Thank you very much for your concern about my safety Mr. GT, but he must be very far from Portugal!!!
:D:D Better to be safe than sorry, Senhor Pinto!

Beautiful SAK pruner Mr. GT, perfect blue, I also have a similar one that I like a lot!!!

Yours is VERY appealing :thumbsup::thumbsup:. I wonder why my cross is white and yours is blue?

Thanks Gary, I like the lay out on the Marbles:thumbsup:
...
Thanks, sir; I like the little in-line Philips on that Marbles. :)
I think when I got up this morning, the weather lady said Fargo had -47 windchill. That's dangerously insane!!:eek::thumbsdown: Be careful out there, Paul!
I seem to have FAR less "discretionary time" in the winter than in the summer. I need to mow the lawn once a week at most, but sidewalks/driveways have needed shoveling at least once every day this week! :(

And the Joker is a fine one- simple but reliable. The only thing, I don´t like with te most spanish and also french ones ist the upstanding tang, but this can be solved with a pouch
I agree about the towering tangs, Dirk. I much prefer a knife with "sunk joints". I wonder how much blade play would result if I filed off the sharp corner of a tang such as that on the Joker?

5K Qs 5K Qs All fine selections today, GT. They all seem to focus on function and simply so.
- Stuart
Thanks, Stuart. :) And thanks for succinctly characterizing my M.O.: I'm kind of a simpleton who values function over form! ;):cool:

This one is a Christmas gift from my neighbor. Each year for the past several years, he goes to our local old-school hardware store and picks a Case knife out of the big floor standing display case as a present for me.

That's a very cool Christmas tradition your neighbor has, Stuart; he got you a splendid knife this year!:cool::thumbsup: I'd like to see that Case display and your old-school hardware store. One of the things that surprised me when I became re-interested in knives 4 years ago was that none of my local hardware stores had pocket knives! When I was a lad, that was the go-to source for knife dreams! ;)

:D:D Will, how can you live way up in Finland and know more about American "pop culture" than I do living right in the middle of it??

... I have two of my favorites with me today.

Incredibly handsome knife, Drew!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

That's an eye-catching knife, Travman Travman !:cool::thumbsup: In MLB, 3 strikes and you're out; in WLST, 3 stripes and you're in!! ;)

I'm carrying this Boker Barlow again.

Those Böker Barlows are such classics, Mark!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: In 2018, I resolve to add some Böker model to my knife pile! :p

Got bad news about the wife yesterday, so today all I'm carrying in my lounge pants is an Opinel #6.
Thanks Gentlemen She facing a 3rd Battle with Cancer this time in the bladder! We been walking in and out of this Valley since Dec 2015.
I'll pray for her, you, your daughter, and the medical folks, deltaboy; tough news to get anytime, but especially during the holidays.

I've got the clipped Eureka jack today.

How's that car working out, r8shell? At some point recently, your BF post count was exactly 10 times your car's odometer reading!! Lucky, indeed! :D:cool::thumbsup:

Case CV Sodbuster Jr. With chestnut jigged bone. This knife has to be one of the best value buys ever.
No argument from me, Leslie.:thumbsup::thumbsup: Phenomenal knife!

Sitting in a motel in Shelbyville , In. tonight and have 3 knives in my pockets . Have to use some re-cycled photos . Will be carrying these 3 until next Wednesday .
These 2 are gifts from a couple of legends @paulhilborn and @Campbellclanman

And this one from a flea market

Harry
Triple Barlows for the win, Harry!!:cool::thumbsup: While visiting in-laws in Indianapolis area, I've seen Shelbyville Road a couple of times. I grew up with the address Shelbyville, MI, but it was basically a post office, a gas station, and a tavern.

I don´t think, this will be a good idea. The bigger the contact area between spring and tang, the better ist the stability. And if you file of the towered tip of the tang, it might be weaken and the power working against the blade while cutting might force the blade to bend upwards. I think, the only way to carry this type of knives without destroying your pockets is to store it in a nice leather pouch. Easy to make, I´ve got nearly 20 of them for every size of knives.

1970’s Case Red Bone Canoe.

I searched for one of these for several reasons. First, the etching on these knives required a chemical process that actually slightly engraved the blade. It will not fade away. Second, Case used a single spring then. The current models are much thicker because of the additional spring. Finally, the Case Red Bone is always great.

A classic, no doubt! I have a couple myself, based on the same reasons that you mentioned.

After a couple days of switched up carry, I went right back to these two. Cooking a pork roast and black eye peas for the guys (and one girl) at work today then going home and having a little fire and some small fireworks for my kids. It won’t be a late night for us. Never is!

It’s 48 degrees and dropping to a low of 24 tonight. Very cold for south Louisiana. Supposed to be mid 20’s at night for 5. That’s a heck of a cold snap for us! Might switch the fixie to a ratmandu later for help in making and keeping our fire going.
