What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

WOW Harry, two beauties my friend, oh how I regret trading my single oiled bone:oops:
Thanks very much Paul . The very nice feature about these steel linered Barlows is that the chance of Verdigris ruining the white colored bone is greatly reduced . Maybe you will find another one on the exchange .
P.S. : Did you get my E-Mail that I sent last week ????

Harry

I've started straying from the Victorinox Recruit at work and have been alternating between these two. I keep the SAK close by for nasty chores though.

IMG_1900.jpg

But when I come home I keep grabbing the 881. Quite honestly, I could probably be content with a SAK, a 340T and an 881 as the only 3 in the rotation, but where's the fun in that??

I agree, that would be a great "rotation" or consistent EDC.

r8shell, I have several knives that are missing shields (not many as nice as the one that you posted -great punch blade). Can we find a forum of folks posting shields that are missing from knives?
- Stuart
Do you mean somewhere there's a ShieldForums website where shield collectors discuss just shields? I wouldn't be surprised, there's something for everyone on the interwebs. :D Shield replacement might be a good topic for a thread, though. I've fashioned replacement shields a few times, using thin metal sheet or piano key veneers.

I was looking at that Camillus yesterday, thinking about cutting a new shield for it out of copper.

Today's Bullet knife carry is a Remington Woodsman (R4353) replicated by Camillus in 1985, as with almost all of the other Bullets I am carrying from this group, the blades are 440 steel and the scales are Delrin. These knives are solidly built.

I now see that I should have wiped the blades before taking the picture, as well as before I put the knife away. Sorry for the smears.

One of only a handful of knives that I'd never ever part with. IMHO, one of GEC's finest runs and one of Mike's best SFO's. The natural paper Micarta is something special to gaze upon. Perfect for a light day of work and some fun afterward. Next to my C4, the Soda Scout gets probably the most pocket time from me.

Ironically, this knife has never opened a single soda, yet countless other beverages. :D:p:D:p

Carrying these 2 today : Sorry about the re-cycled pics

Always a treat to see the TEW lambsfoot, Harry!:thumbsup: And I'm enthralled with all the checkered bone 78s I see here, but your two-bladed version is especially compelling IMHO!!:cool::thumbsup:

Getting excited about another run of 77's so I thought I should carry some today .
I like them both a lot but do not carry them much . They are both made of Unobtainium in 2015 .

I'm honored to see a couple of your noteworthy Northfield 77 Barlows again, Harry!!:thumbsup::cool: Is the "shrine" you built to display them still full?? ;)

Another slim black/silver beauty, lambertiana!:thumbsup::cool: Do I detect a recurring theme for the week?? ;)

Inspiring photo of a knife of style AND substance, Jack!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Today in my pocket this beauty GEC 83!!!...

That little stag lockback is indeed supremely lovely, Senhor Pinto!!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks my friend, I just posted pics of some Richards knives in r8shell's Souvenir Knife thread
I saw those, Jack! I think that's an intriguing thread and your contributions to it are fascinating!:cool::thumbsup: I have to admit that the Richards I liked the best, a "plaid" sleeveboard, is one that I don't know what it's a souvenir of (Scotland, maybe??)!

5K Qs 5K Qs thanks for the info! MOTS is hilarious!

I’ve got my courdoroy coat keeping company with two knives today:

It's good to know the appropriate technical terms, JTB_5. :p
Colorful bone pair for you!!:thumbsup::cool:

View attachment 838881 Pena does some incredible jigging. I have a hard time keeping this one out of my pocket.

A pair of outstanding photos, @Redbeardo and Gevonovich Gevonovich !!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: For some reason, the pic of the Pena immediately brought to my mind Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle and "ice nine".:confused::rolleyes:

So sorry to hear about your 14 hour Mondays, Gary. I assume you mean 14 hours of work, not awake. :D
The good news is you have those two beauties to keep you company! The Humpback Stockman is a stunner.
Thank you for the kind words about my knives!
Thanks for the condolences and the compliments, Dean. :)

Such memorable jigging on your Schrade Barlow!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, I am calling it a Teardrop Jack GT, as that is the name I am most familiar with :). Congrats on the sharpening success! My new black box knives all need sharpening and while I used to dread that task, I look forward to the challenge now (what is more challenging is finding the time to do it though ).

These 2 on board today:

Couple of brothers today. One in the bag one on the belt.

Thanks for the companionable comments, Tom! :)
@Whetstone39 and @Pomsbz, each of you has commendable pairs of knives!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Those orange Farmers sure are attention-grabbers! ;):thumbsup:

Wowsers, Steve, that's a splendid Schrade-Wostenholm I*XL stockman!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Sweet knife, @HST :cool::thumbsup:, but your pics of fruits, nuts, and other healthy foods are making me sick!! ;):p:p

They gave me a case of Case envy, GT. Excellent cattle knife and beautiful chestnuts. Case considers that pattern a cattle knife. I think the riddle is "all stockmen are cattle knives, but not all cattle knives are stockmen." Cattle knives are of the equal end/cigar pattern, whereas most stockmen are serpentine or more figured than the former.

I like the Staghorn, too. I'm still opening boxes, so maybe there's more (?). I know that there's some nice jigged Delrin.

That canoe grabs one's attention immediately and doesn't let go. It is a fine looking knife.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments, Stuart. :) The cattle/stock knife differences are currently receiving some attention in the Cattle Knife thread.

My Remington carry for the day is a Muskrat (R4466) with 440C blades and jigged Delrin scales.

That's a unique muskrat variation, Stuart!:cool::cool::thumbsup: I used to undervalue the muskrat pattern with its two large identical clip blades, but once I started using one, I found that the slender clips typical on a muskrat are really effective blades. But I REALLY like the spey/drop point combo on your model!!:thumbsup::cool:

Every time I see your "belt dangler" set-up for knives with bails, I admire its form and function, Travman Travman !!:thumbsup::cool:

She's a slicer!
Watch out! It's a trap(per)!!
Congrats on a handsome knife, FBC!:cool::thumbsup:
Looks like you have an impressively-rigorous sharpness-testing regimen in which you stab rusty tailpipes repeatedly before assessing apple-slicing capabilities!:eek::D

My Euro Knife of the Week is a Spanish folder my daughter bought for me in Toledo, Spain:

A truly excellent knife. I have a couple of the Camillus Cartridge Series versions in jigged bone. I regard this particular pattern's clip blade to be probably the finest clip I've ever used for small game and trout cleaning. It's absolutely perfect.

One note: Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that all of the Camillus-manufactured Remington reissues from the mid-80's to late 90's were done in 440a steel.
