What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

One note: Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that all of the Camillus-manufactured Remington reissues from the mid-80's to late 90's were done in 440a steel.
Buzz, I believe that you may be correct and I am looking to see where I got the 440C information.

I had some catching up to do...

Good luck with the bid. It can be nerve wracking for sure! Nice pair of knives to sooth your anxiety, nonetheless.

Best wishes for the house hunt, Dylan!
That's a peerless pair of knives - black/red, wood/bone, spear/sheep.:cool::thumbsup: I look at the barehead thread and think, "Yeah, barehead jacks are best", but then I see a photo like yours and think, "How can you top the looks of an end cap?"

Thank you, gentlemen, for the compliments and well wishes. Unfortunately, our offer was not accepted though we were told that we were the runner-up (small consolation...). So back to the hunt we go. The market is stellar for selling a home, just not so good for buying one. A topic for another time and place though.

There is a Schrade you do not see every day! Look at that jigging! Wonderful.

Getting excited about another run of 77's so I thought I should carry some today .
I like them both a lot but do not carry them much . They are both made of Unobtainium in 2015 .

Harry

Those are a couple of stunners, Harry! I know not everyone prefers them, but there is something rather magical about a spear blade on a Barlow.

That is quite the knife, Gevonovich! I love the federal shield paired with the equal ends and smooth dark wood, just fantastic.

I love seeing that Beer Scout, Travman. I hope GEC decides to do another run in the future.

One of only a handful of knives that I'd never ever part with. IMHO, one of GEC's finest runs and one of Mike's best SFO's. The natural paper Micarta is something special to gaze upon. Perfect for a light day of work and some fun afterward. Next to my C4, the Soda Scout gets probably the most pocket time from me.

Ironically, this knife has never opened a single soda, yet countless other beverages. :D:p:D:p

A fantastic knife, Buzz. I am sure the paper micarta has to be felt and experienced versus simply seen to truly be appreciated. It definitely looks like a well loved knife.

My Euro Knife of the Week is a Spanish folder my daughter bought for me in Toledo, Spain:

My Stag/Horn Knife of the Week happens to also be a Spanish knife, a JJ Martinez stag navaja de campaña:

An excellent assortment of knives today, GT!

I am carrying something a bit different today.

Do you mean somewhere there's a ShieldForums website where shield collectors discuss just shields? I wouldn't be surprised, there's something for everyone on the interwebs. :D Shield replacement might be a good topic for a thread, though. I've fashioned replacement shields a few times, using thin metal sheet or piano key veneers.

I was looking at that Camillus yesterday, thinking about cutting a new shield for it out of copper.

Today's carry:View attachment 839429 View attachment 839430

Doesn't everyone just send YOU the shield-less knives?!:p:D That looks like a great combination Rachel :)

Lovely ebony gents, and excellent pics

Inspiring photo of a knife of style AND substance, Jack!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

That little stag lockback is indeed supremely lovely, Senhor Pinto!!:thumbsup::cool:

I saw those, Jack! I think that's an intriguing thread and your contributions to it are fascinating!:cool::thumbsup: I have to admit that the Richards I liked the best, a "plaid" sleeveboard, is one that I don't know what it's a souvenir of (Scotland, maybe??)!

It's good to know the appropriate technical terms, JTB_5. :p
Colorful bone pair for you!!:thumbsup::cool:

A pair of outstanding photos, @Redbeardo and @Gevonovich !!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: For some reason, the pic of the Pena immediately brought to my mind Vonnegut's Cat's Cradle and "ice nine".:confused::rolleyes:

Thanks for the condolences and the compliments, Dean. :)

Such memorable jigging on your Schrade Barlow!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks for the companionable comments, Tom! :)
@Whetstone39 and @Pomsbz, each of you has commendable pairs of knives!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Those orange Farmers sure are attention-grabbers! ;):thumbsup:

Wowsers, Steve, that's a splendid Schrade-Wostenholm I*XL stockman!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Sweet knife, @HST :cool::thumbsup:, but your pics of fruits, nuts, and other healthy foods are making me sick!! ;):p:p

Thanks for the thoughtful comments, Stuart. :) The cattle/stock knife differences are currently receiving some attention in the Cattle Knife thread.

That's a unique muskrat variation, Stuart!:cool::cool::thumbsup: I used to undervalue the muskrat pattern with its two large identical clip blades, but once I started using one, I found that the slender clips typical on a muskrat are really effective blades. But I REALLY like the spey/drop point combo on your model!!:thumbsup::cool:

Every time I see your "belt dangler" set-up for knives with bails, I admire its form and function, @Travman !!:thumbsup::cool:

Watch out! It's a trap(per)!!
Congrats on a handsome knife, FBC!:cool::thumbsup:
Looks like you have an impressively-rigorous sharpness-testing regimen in which you stab rusty tailpipes repeatedly before assessing apple-slicing capabilities!:eek::D

Thanks for your kind words my friend, you are very kind :) Aye, souvenirs of Scotland - and I always end up giving them away to Scotsmen! :D I love your three European folders, great pic of your Squirrel

I have had my 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot with me today :)

My latest acquisition, an odd bird, and possibly a new favorite. This Ancient feels as solid as a tank and is surprisingly easily pinchable. The factory "relic" approach brings a really nice overall feel and look to it too, and as with most things the imperfections add a great deal its appeal. Now the quest for a 2012 and 2013 TC intensifies so that I can have a representation from each year of these wonderful little knives.

Really cool knife there. And I like your approach to collecting the TCs... representing one per year... =)

Today's Bullet knife carry is a Remington Woodsman (R4353) replicated by Camillus in 1985, as with almost all of the other Bullets I am carrying from this group, the blades are 440C and the scales are Delrin. These knives are solidly built.

I now see that I should have wiped the blades before taking the picture, as well as before I put the knife away. Sorry for the smears.
- Stuart

Really nice example, Stuart!:thumbsup: I have the 1994 Camp model. They are solid and well built knives.

Such memorable jigging on your Schrade Barlow!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, Gary! Your Cognet l'ecureuil is a sturdy looking knife and you did a superb job photographing it!

Thank you for your comments on my Schrade. When I saw it at a show a few years ago, I had to have it. It is a favorite of mine.
Your two beautiful knives are a fantastic carry choice and your photo perfectly shows their beauty.:thumbsup:

Some nice butter smooth Ebony for today! :)

Such lovely grain and color! Top drawer ebony, Ron!

Speaking of ebony, I carried my Huckleberry today.

A new arrival for me today, I switched from my Stag Churchill once this one arrived:thumbsup:

Excellent, Paul! How are you liking it? I just paid for one in the "Mustard Yellow" bone earlier this morning. I'm leery of the coloring, but the shield excites me. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

Thank you, Dean!

I do love that Ebony 15, the patina and smooth Ebony make for a rather striking combination.

Three today.
