That's good to hear, Ron!! Knife Knuts love those severance packages, don't we?? ;):p Did you get any kind of knife-related retirement gift from you employer or co-workers? I don't expect anything from my employer when I retire at the end of August, but I'm seriously considering getting a Swiss Army 1 something like this for myself ;):

Congrats on your upcoming retirement Gary. That is a neat idea for a personalized SAK! I did actually get a knife related gift from my 2nd Shift Team. I was very pleased with it. I will post it when I can get some good photos. Here is what I have had in my pockets today. All three of these are gifts received this week from members here on the Porch! You will see the details in other threads. :)

Fettling? Consenting adults only!

Now I’m off to find my dictionary...

We gonna get some after pictures?

:D I learned the word from our friend @Jack Black. I hope to get it in good enough shape to warrant an after picture.

fet·tle
ˈfedl/
verb
gerund or present participle: fettling

  1. trim or clean the rough edges of (a metal casting or a piece of pottery) before firing.
    • Northern English
      make or repair (something).
"the familiar sounds of bikes being prepped and fettled"

I fixed the broken tip on the sheepfoot, and removed all the active rust. I was going to do more fettling, but after looking at it a while, I decided to call it finished. The rough pitted texture is kinda growing on me.

Got a new Enigma in today and sharpened it and a few others up. Really inpressed with how thin they're ground; sporting a 15dps bevel with 0.2mm behind the edge and 4dps main grind.

I agree with your assessment of Enigma's blade grinds, they are ground really thin the way I like them. And they use some good steels, too. Mine is US 2000 MC, which is essentially the same as Cruwear. I happen to have mine in my pocket today.
