What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

 Still, I suppose it could have been worse! When they first laid the paving slabs in the early 90's, I can remember having to don crampons on one icy day!

Crampons are hard core :D:thumbsup: I saw someone up there last winter with snowshoes on. It wasn't THAT deep....

donn donn Who makes that handsome German workhorse shown in your garden?

Otter-Messer. It's the small carbon bladed size, as they produce two different sizes.

Thanks! Amazingly enough, it was made by CRKT!
Wow. Nothing like the two CRKT's I own then; which certainly wouldn't cut muster on the Trad' forum.

Lots to do and get done today before I park myself in front of the TV and zone out watching Winter Olympics. :D

And that there looks one useful work knife

Nothing fancy for me today and a picture from a few weeks ago as I forgot to put the batteries back in my camera

My carry picks today are similar in thought as yesterday's. Another stockman for any real work, a Case 5347 (in stag for Stagurday) from the 1940-1964 era; and a "fancy" knife for a party we are attending tonight, a Saturday Night Special by Parker Cutlery Co. (Eagle brand) in MOP and abalone from 1978-1991. The spey blade on the Case has the ominous etch "FLESH ONLY". Yikes!

Simply amazing Stuart! I am enjoying all these unboxing posts! However, this 47 pattern Case (and the othern) are grails for me. I will eventually pull the trigger on one. Been holding out for a ‘76 model. The pre ‘70 stuff gets up there in price.
Keep the treasure pics coming!

Got my small Case whittler laser engraved last night where I work, one of the very few perks ;) but, it is nice to have a friend in the machine shop from time to time!
Celtic cross put into the bolster, small about 1/4" square but still pretty detailed.

And did I mention this knife is sharp? still amazed at the edge this one now carries.

Gary, that is too cool! Very nicely done! I'm envious!

Still cycling through others in my collection after the loss of my Boker. Trying to find the next "just right".

A cold snap down below minus 30 leaves a cold day in the woods. We heat with wood at a place a few miles from any power line. Today it was my Utica Barlow. She does have that same feel as my old Boker but not quite "just right".

I prefer to limb with an axe. This one as Gransford Bruks given to me by my groomsmen the night before my wedding. One of my special possessions from the memories. Much quieter, just as fast and I enjoy the hand work. Hope you are all warm out there!

Same here. :D I do remember some time back, maybe five years ago, CRKT had a line of traditional knives in jigged bone. I think a Stockman, Congress, & maybe some other patterns. I guess they didn't sell well and were discontinued. Now I kind of wish I'd picked one up.

And that there looks one useful work knife

Thanks, it proved very useful today. A gift from @Amir Fleschwund, I've carried it a few times, but today is the first chance to really put it to work. It broke down some nasty old cardboard boxes and cut the tips off many tubes of caulk today. Now the utility room is de-cluttered and sealed up, and after just a couple passes on a Sharpmaker it's ready for more. (I'm not)

I like that photo. Nice knife, of course, and I can't remember the last time I took a walk somewhere out of view of electric powerlines.:thumbsup:
