I'm a big fan of that 56 in micarta but I'll still say I'm even more jealous of the bread! :D

I am already 10 pages behind lol... good grief. Saw some of you displaying your beautiful 77s (looking at you Harry!) and it inspired me to grab my one and only. Every time I do I ask myself how it ever left my pocket to begin with.

Man, you're right, Drew - the pace of this thread (and of life) seems to just keep accelerating! I had far more posts quoted than actually showed up here; I can't comment on everything I want to because it makes my post illegally large. :(
That 77 Barlow is looking like a healthy treat! ;)

You should pick up Augustine's Confessions. It is what he's most known for, and a very interesting read--the first book of its kind and one very few have duplicated well.

Your GEC identification is better than you let on. That is a 47 Viper you see, and I was lucky enough to snag it on the Exchange. If I wasn't trying to limit my knife purchasing, I'd get another one. But for now I like to enjoy what others get to show off.
Thanks for the reading recommendation, Joshua. That book is on my list of classics to read. Thanks also for the 47 ID confirmation. ;) I'm with you regarding how much vicarious enjoyment is available here!!:thumbsup::)

Raining here today. Bone is the choice of the day.
Fantastic bone coloration and texture on that pair, Joshua!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Handsome Humpback whittler, FBC!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

I want to thank my good friend Mr. Paul Hilborn for this absolutely gorgeous GEC..78 SpearPoint....

Congrats, Duncan, on that superb gift!!:cool::thumbsup:
Plaudits to Paul for his thoughtful and legendary generosity!:thumbsup::cool::cool::)

I like your Free Choices, don't think I've seen that RR before
...
Thanks for sharing your memories, Jack! :p:thumbsup: That's some satisfying stag on your "senator"!:cool::thumbsup:

For whatever reason, this photo of your Guardians Lambsfoot evoked a memory of Bob Dylan's "Watching the River Flow".:thumbsup::cool:;)

Lockback Sunday

Sumptuous Sunday, Gev!!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool::cool:

@315 , that Böker Barlow is about as good as it gets!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Awesome 78!!:thumbsup::cool: What's the top knife? The jigging on both knives is terrific!:cool::thumbsup:

Big cheers for that big rosewood, Ron!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

CASE Wharncliffe Teardrop in cv tonight.

Splendid teardrop, Will; tears of joy! ;):cool::thumbsup:

Thank you, Gary, for the kind comment. Your buffalo bedecked pen is bodacious!

My Sunday-go-to-meetin' knife this week is a GEC Congress Whip.

Thanks, Dean. :) What a distinguished, classy knife!:cool::cool:

... A Craftsman Sta Sharp stockman made by Camillus for Sears & Roebuck sometime between 1927-1940, and a W.H. Morley & Sons sleeve board pen from 1913-1927. They are content to keep me company....

Another amazing double play, Stuart!!:cool::thumbsup: That sleeveboard with the clover leaf tang stamp really caught my eye! o_O:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nice carries GT! Mine is the same size as donn’s and Jack’s, just a hair over 3 1/2 inches.

And I definitely have “alox pox” :)

Thanks for the info, Tom; it's cool that those Jokers are so perfectly proportional to one another despite the size difference.:thumbsup: Always nice to see your blue Farmer!:thumbsup::cool:

5K Qs 5K Qs Very nice horn on the RR, GT.

Thanks, Stuart! :)

Thank you, Will and Jack, the coffin jack is my favorite of the black box Winchester patterns. The knurled bolster just adds something special for me, along with the slender spear main.
+ 5K !!! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks for the compliments, GT. Case uses a lengthy and convoluted (to me) code of 24 pattern suffixes to specifically identify the blades and bolsters used on a particular knife if its pattern has several optional blades/bolsters, e.g., Sh for sheepfoot, Sp = spey, 1/2 = clip master (instead of a spear master). For multi-blade knives, where the pattern number a suffixes could get cumbersome, they cut the suffix to the last letter of the suffix, so a 6347HP is a 3 blade (the "3") stockman (the "47") with bone handle (the "6") and both a sheepfoot and a spey blade. I saw your SBJ, but am no longer covetous since I picked one up, too.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, Stuart.:thumbsup: After reading it, I realized I'd seen this info before, but was unable to recall it when I needed it!

I have two great pups! I wish I had some photos but my wife is the photo lover.

I suspect nothing will apart from another 494. An incredible gesture by @sitflyer leaves me the proud owner of a new one!
Good stuff, both of you!! :D:cool::cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

...
I reckon one of these today.

Man, you have a lot of classics in your knife matrix, donn!!:thumbsup::cool: Thanks for the horticultural info; I have no experience with snow drops.

Many thanks GT, it was a very pleasant evening :) I always enjoy seeing your Eternals :)

I'm starting off the week with a Big Lambsfoot and my Speaker Jack (thanks Alan) :)

I could be totin’ this Lloyd. What do y’all think of it? Should I pull the trigger?
Lloyd stag is close to perfect IMHO!:cool::cool::thumbsup: Leslie, if you have the cash, put that knife in your stash!! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Congrats, Will!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Looking forward to more photos!

No space for my own photos! :(:thumbsdown::mad:

donn, I like that IXL Barlow. Middle row, second from the top. Are those Elk covers?

Very well, I particularly like the IXL barlow!!!

Thanks guys. It's one produced by the company who owns the IXL trademark, (Eddington?). Railsplitter, the covers look impressive but on closer examination you'd find there some sort of Delrin material.

Nice! What can you tell me about the stag swayback in the center?

Ratbert, it's an A.Wright & Son Ettrick with stag covers. Posted a pic below for my EDC of the day.

They are Thuya burl donn. Thank you !! Hard choice today I see :D Ettrick
Thanks for that Gevonovitch'! The grain and colouring is fantastic. I asked because I've got a few possibles lined up for my next knife purchase and one of the choices has Ironwood covers, which look very similar to those.

Great knife but that bread is just asking for lashings of butter and a homemade soup :D:thumbsup:

I went with your choice Gevonovich. The Ettrick. And for today as well, but that'll change because it's Pancake Day here in the UK and I don't think Ettricks make good pancake slicers

Thanks 5K! My knife collection is divided into three. The knives I've bought new for myself over the years (most are in the pic) The knives I've picked up in antique shops and then knives that belonged to any of my relatives. Apart from 2 (maybe 3 as I've a Ti Buck 110 which is borderline?) all my folders are traditional. I don't own any U.S made traditional knives purely because there quite (very) expensive over here, and ordering direct from the U.S makes them even more so  Hopefully I'll change that someday.
Snowdrops are like daffodils or tulips. They sprout from a small 'bulb'. And always seem to grow in bunches never single.

Man o man that's a good looking pancake cuttin knife :) Great pic too. We don't see enough of that wondrous pattern

"The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men
Gang aft agley,
An' lea'e us nought but grief an' pain,
For promis'd joy!"
Once again, my plan for the day's carry was almost thwarted, but not due to glaring sun on pictures. I had planned another Remington replica reveal, this one being the R-4 Utility Knife with a spear master, coping secondary, a saw blade, can opener, and a cap lifter, all topped with a bail.

NvOXnWo.jpg

But I didn't have the heart to take it out of its original wrapping and wipe off the light packing grease, so I put it back after a pic.

Following the utilitarian theme, I chose these two for the day: Opinel No. 8 (from mid-1970's) and Queen 31 large (yet slim) congress (from 1961-1971). Maybe the Bard of Ayrshire would approve.
