What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Going out to dinner tonight, with red and redder. :D

This Case 62032 small Texas jack is the one I'm carrying today. I found it at the local knife store a while back. It is a 2014 and was absolutely pristine with box and paperwork. For some reason I never got around to carrying it. A few days ago I was forcing a patina on my new swayback jack and thought that I'd better do this one too, then decided it was finally time to put it in my pocket. I think this knife has the perfect balance of handle and clip blade length, plus a very well designed pen blade too.

Nice example of one of Case's best patterns, in my opinion. -Lance

I agree. After I bought this one I went back and bought its "litter mate." That knife was really grungy and dirty with pitted blades and was $10 cheaper. It came with the box but not the brown wrapper or information insert, and both knives had the same manufacturing date on the box. I've used that second knife to experiment with patina and re-dying so it's kind of a beater knife, but I like the pattern so much it's usually in my pocket when I'm at home. In addition to liking the pattern, I really like the CV steel.

In my head, this was going to be a great picture for a Mini Monday: some small Cases on top of a case of Cases. Then, I stepped outside. Oh, well. Apologies for the glare/reflections. The smallies are, clockwise from upper left: small premium pen (1970), red peanut (2007), blue peanut (2011), Appaloosa peanut (1978). The display case is a Christmas gift from our son.

Edit at 3:50 EDT I was so focused on the glare in the pictures that I forgot to mention that I am carrying the red and the blue peanuts today. Man, they are fun.

Cool photos, displays, knives!! I would have never guessed it, but I'm turning into quite a fan of blue bone knives, so your blue peanut looks amazing to me, Stuart!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Those New Day spey blades are classics IMHO, Dean!:cool::cool:

I'll see President Lincoln his 6 blade congress and raise him 5 blades.

Exquisite equal-end, Steve! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

View attachment 847566 The mail came today and this 78 kicked the other 78 out of the pocket. Wanted to try out a two blader. Actually really like it  also wanted the "carbon" tang stamp sense I'm a nerd:cool: Please excuse the oil and finger prints :D View attachment 847567
I usually praise people's single-bladed knives, and they're usually very desirable, but in my private thoughts, I'm usually thinking, "If only it had a secondary blade, it would be perfect." Your 78s confirm my opinion, Anothername Anothername !!:thumbsup::thumbsup::rolleyes:

This pair of CV Cases, both received in giveaways. The stag trapper from @Chief and the copperlock from r8shell r8shell . Thanks again to both of you.

Very pleasing pair of knives, @Planterz ! Congrats on winning those!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I though I’d let the peanut out of my guitar pick pocket to pose for a change.
He’s always in there, I just forget to include the poor lil guy in pictures.View attachment 847659
That's an iconic American trio, Jeff!:thumbsup::cool:

...This guy showed up today. I’m in bed with the flu (I thought I skipped out after the rest of the family got it) so no in depth review now. But I will say it’s a very good value. Fit and finish of knives many times it’s price.

Congrats on the intriguing Barlow :thumbsup::thumbsup:, and best wishes for being a flu fighter :(!

A "new to me" Railsplitter in Honey Corn Cob covers. Sports solid D2 blades that are laser sharp now after some time and patience:thumbsup:

Holey Bone, Paul!:cool::cool::thumbsup: Great color and super-distinctive jigging on your new Railsplitter!:thumbsup:

I like the taste of toast & jam, and I like the looks of toasted MAM!! ;):cool::thumbsup:

Looking after my mates three kids this morning, and planning to eat a few pancakes :) Indulged myself in a double Lambsfoot day

Congrats on the double lambsfoot, Jack!! I hope you survive the 3 against 1 situation! ;):p

Thanks 5K! My knife collection is divided into three. The knives I've bought new for myself over the years (most are in the pic) The knives I've picked up in antique shops and then knives that belonged to any of my relatives. Apart from 2 (maybe 3 as I've a Ti Buck 110 which is borderline?) all my folders are traditional. I don't own any U.S made traditional knives purely because there quite (very) expensive over here, and ordering direct from the U.S makes them even more so  Hopefully I'll change that someday.
Snowdrops are like daffodils or tulips. They sprout from a small 'bulb'. And always seem to grow in bunches never single.
Thanks for the interesting info about your tripartite knife collection and about snow drops, @donn !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Two tree-bones for T-bone Tuesday. :D

Captivating couple, r8shell! I really like the curved shield on that bottom knife!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT. No, not gluten free! Just flour, water and salt, naturally leavened.
:thumbsup: Just kidding about the gluten-free!

Man, I like the "feathering" pattern in your lambsfoot @strokednbored !:thumbsup::cool:

...Once again, my plan for the day's carry was almost thwarted, but not due to glaring sun on pictures. I had planned another Remington replica reveal, this one being the R-4 Utility Knife with a spear master, coping secondary, a saw blade, can opener, and a cap lifter, all topped with a bail.

But I didn't have the heart to take it out of its original wrapping and wipe off the light packing grease, so I put it back after a pic.

Following the utilitarian theme, I chose these two for the day: Opinel No. 8 (from mid-1970's) and Queen 31 large (yet slim) congress (from 1961-1971). Maybe the Bard of Ayrshire would approve.

Very poetic, Stuart! That Rem scout looks great, even through plastic!:cool::thumbsup: And your two carries are lovely in their utilitarianism!:cool:;)

You're living in the fast lane my friend! ;) Thanks for the kind words, appreciated, as always

Is it not Pancake Day in the US too? Great-looking Ettrick sir

We have Ash Wednesday tomorrow, and Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras today, but I never heard of Pancake Day!:rolleyes: The local news station on TV had on location reports from Marge's Donut Den, where they planned to turn out 30K Polish paczkis today!

As is often the case, there are several Rough Rider models in my scheduled rotation this week.

Thank you, GT, for your generous comments. Each day is an adventure getting my daily carries to "play well together". I may go back to one-knife-a-day. My Blue Monday posting cued me to the beauty of blues. I just don't have many (see my post on Jan 22nd #108962 for the collection).
@Leslie Tomville saved me from eventually unwrapping my R-4 with his gracious posting.
The Queen 31 is a wonderful EDC: slim and, like a sowbelly, curved for the pocket - two useful blades. I'm not big on patina (I'm from an era when that meant you didn't care for your knives), but I do understand the recent affection for different/old looking knives (and, importantly, knives that sharpen VERY WELL), and that Opie 8 has "it". I have 4-5 more Opie 8s of the same vintage yet to "patina". Maybe I'll try your "script writing patina" method.

Your tobacco bone RR muskrat is a beauty, but I keep going back to look at the captivating canoe. The covers look like high-end checkering on a fine gunstock.

Jack Black Jack Black There's a Crepe Day, too? Sacre' bleu!

Doh! I completely neglected the fact that there are dozens and dozens of 'pancakes' around the world! Here, pancakes are like crepes, but we also have 'American pancakes', which have rather displaced the 'Scotch pancakes' (drop scones) that I enjoyed as a kid. We celebrate Pancake Day on Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras) before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday, though it is a largely secular celebration, with its own traditions, fading sadly, such as the pancake race! :D

It may be Valentine's Day today, but I always say Pancake Day is for TRUE romantics! ;) :D

Looks tasty, Jack! (Hope you didn't have too hard a time cleaning the syrup off your Guardians Lambsfoot! :D)

I figured since we'd moved to a new state, maybe it was time for a new knife. I was going to buy something new (maybe a Farm & Field & Fish #65, which seemed fitting for Minnesota), but I already own several knives that I haven't carried yet, so I decided instead to pull one of those off the bench and start using it. I went with this Natural Canvas Micarta #71 Bull Nose from 2015. (I'm honestly not sure why I haven't carried this knife yet; I love these #71's, and I think the Canvas Micarta fits this knife particularly well.) Looking forward to making this one a user.

Thanks Barrett :) Despite loving pancakes, I only really eat them once a year, and I had decided to treat myself to a day of pancakes and beer! :) My plans were disrupted by a request from a couple of friends to look after their three kids. This proved to be a rather trying experience, and their dad was half an hour late coming back, right past lunchtime. I had offered to take us all out for pancakes after, and while that had been agreed, the youngest decided, at the last minute, that he didn't want pancakes! And it seems he gets what he wants  So, I ended up in a different place to where I had planned to go, ravenously hungry, the pancakes were second rate, but I barely tasted them anyway. Rather than maple syrup, (which used to be expensive here, but isn't anymore), they came with golden syrup (from sugar-cane), which is cheaper, sweeter, thicker, and stickier. So I gave my Lambsfoot a good scrub when I got home!

Nice-looking Bull Nose my friend

It's been way to long since I carried the Ancient. Have cardboard cutting duties today so it may come into play:thumbsup:

Another day carrying my American Jack. Cutting down roses for tomorrow might be the best task she's performed yet...certainly the most colorful!

Thanks GT, I survived with scars! I was a youth-worker years ago, and would regularly take up to 70 inner-city kids all over the place, on my own, without a great deal of trouble, and I have 3 kids myself, as well as a granddaughter, but maybe kids have changed  Or I'm just getting older ;)

Soundtrack to my morning! ;)

Double ebony for me today  Black to match my black heart! :D
