What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

The Camillus in the middle with the tip bolsters and long pull nicks.

ETA, the one on top, the Wurlitzer? Schrade Walden with nickle silver scales and the one on the bottom is an Imperial Trick/Magic Knife

Today's choices harken back to yesterday's selections, but with slightly different characters with different purposes. A Camillus model 40 small half congress (1946-1950), an H.Boker & Co's Improved Cutlery slim jack (1920-1930), and another Qpinel No. 8 (mid-1970's). The Camillus, as opposed to the like-new large Queen congress of yesterday, shows what lots of use by prior owners can do - the main used to be a sheepfoot, the secondary a pen, The Boker shows that age does not necessarily diminish beauty, if cared for. The Opinel, a sibling to yesterday's No. 8, asked to get out of the box for Wooden Wednesday and some fresh air. These should get me through the day, even the calamitous Camillus, which is quite sharp.

Thanks for the education, Jack. I thought that someone had shrunk your shrove. I'm glad that you survived kid duty (not all kids have changed, but some certainly have as their parents have trouble with that responsibility - as a parent and former sport coach and scout leader, I know).
- Stuart

LOL! :D Thanks Stuart, I know exactly what you mean my friend

Remington and Robeson today

Stopped by the lake today to get a few pics of The Car On The Lake For 2018

Two old beauties there Harry, and it's great to see The Car On The Lake! :)

Wonderful character Stuart

Happy Wednesday, everyone. I haven't been able to contribute much here aside from some occasional reading. House shopping and work make for quite a busy mix...

I have these two with me today.

Beautiful knives, Harry. Also, I always enjoy your "Car on the Lake" posts.

I mistakenly composed and posted everything below in the Wooden Wednesday thread!!:(:confused::confused::rolleyes: I hope I'm successful in getting it into the thread where it belongs!

Nice, Ron!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Is the ebony 73 new-to-you? I certainly remember your OO 73, but not this ebony. What a wondrous wooden Wednesday notable pair those two knives would make!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:;)

Texas Jack (and dog) is lookin' great, Bill!:cool::thumbsup:

Magnificent, majestic, marvelous knife!!:thumbsup::cool::cool: You keep posting it, and I'll keep admiring it! :D

Rousing Remington scout, Leslie!:cool::thumbsup: (I sure like the pond that shows up in many of your photos.;))

... It's supposed to be above freezing here tomorrow, so I'm planning on washing my truck. It'll be nice to have it just one color again. :D

Carrying these 77's today . ( sorry about the re-cycled pics )

Harry
Notable pair of 77 Barlows, Harry!:thumbsup::cool: I had forgotten about the brown sawcut you have; you also have a red sawcut Northfield Barlow too, right?

Got a tip from Jordan that heat changes the color of the resin in natural micarta...

Fabulous job of lamb-inating that Navy knife, TK!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

First time posting on here so hope it works ha! GEC 66. LOVE this knife.
Welcome to The Porch!! :) Fine pic of a killer knife!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The 77 Barlow thread always inspires me to pull out the fantastic 2016 clip point! Of course, because I have two pockets, I had to bring along the sway back as well.

Brought out these two for a Wooden Wednesday carry.

Primo pairs, Jake(x2) & Jeff & Ron!:cool::thumbsup: (Jeff, I see that the knife from you has been delivered to my campus mail services building, so I'm hoping I'll get it in the afternoon mail!:cool::p:thumbsup: Thanks!)

This Case 62032 small Texas jack is the one I'm carrying today. I found it at the local knife store a while back. It is a 2014 and was absolutely pristine with box and paperwork. For some reason I never got around to carrying it. A few days ago I was forcing a patina on my new swayback jack and thought that I'd better do this one too, then decided it was finally time to put it in my pocket. I think this knife has the perfect balance of handle and clip blade length, plus a very well designed pen blade too.

Very cool, Ace!!:thumbsup::cool: IMHO, the Texas Jack pen blade "makes" the knife!:thumbsup:

Callimus today !

Cool couple of Camilluses, deltaboy!:thumbsup::cool: Is the one on the left a 21?

Thank you, GT, for your generous comments. Each day is an adventure getting my daily carries to "play well together". I may go back to one-knife-a-day. My Blue Monday posting cued me to the beauty of blues. I just don't have many (see my post on Jan 22nd #108962 for the collection).
@Leslie Tomville saved me from eventually unwrapping my R-4 with his gracious posting.
The Queen 31 is a wonderful EDC: slim and, like a sowbelly, curved for the pocket - two useful blades. I'm not big on patina (I'm from an era when that meant you didn't care for your knives), but I do understand the recent affection for different/old looking knives (and, importantly, knives that sharpen VERY WELL), and that Opie 8 has "it". I have 4-5 more Opie 8s of the same vintage yet to "patina". Maybe I'll try your "script writing patina" method.

Your tobacco bone RR muskrat is a beauty, but I keep going back to look at the captivating canoe. The covers look like high-end checkering on a fine gunstock.
- Stuart
I enjoy reading your thoughts on knives, Stuart!:thumbsup::cool: Thanks for the positive comments on the ones I posted; RR's gunstock checked bone is incredibly attractive IMHO. I think I'm attracted to almost any regular, geometric cover pattern: e.g., Victorinox Alox and checkered wood, bone (including some recent GEC #78s), ivory.

Thanks GT! Always appreciate the kind words:) love the jigging on that canoe!
Thanks, @Anothername ! :)

Doh! I completely neglected the fact that there are dozens and dozens of 'pancakes' around the world! Here, pancakes are like crepes, but we also have 'American pancakes', which have rather displaced the 'Scotch pancakes' (drop scones) that I enjoyed as a kid. We celebrate Pancake Day on Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras) before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday, though it is a largely secular celebration, with its own traditions, fading sadly, such as the pancake race! :D

It may be Valentine's Day today, but I always say Pancake Day is for TRUE romantics! ;) :D
...
Thanks GT, I survived with scars! I was a youth-worker years ago, and would regularly take up to 70 inner-city kids all over the place, on my own, without a great deal of trouble, and I have 3 kids myself, as well as a granddaughter, but maybe kids have changed  Or I'm just getting older ;)
...
Double ebony for me today  Black to match my black heart! :D

Those pancake races must have been thrill-a-minute competitions (that put old-time wrestling to shame)! ;) Your opinion on romance, Valentine's Day, and Pancake Day seems like it has the potential to have resulted in some negative repercussions over time!:D Kid care definitely requires lots of energy; I still volunteer in my church's nursery once or twice a month, but I make sure that I serve in the room with the youngest kids, most of whom can't walk yet; I'm much more confident in my ability to keep up with children with limited mobility!
I'm always a fan of Jack Black's Dual Black Jacks Days!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's a pretty pair of pen knives, r8shell!! Someday you should post a trio that also includes your red White Owl (or maybe you should find an ebony White Owl ;))!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's a distinguished duo, Shawn!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Newly acquired Case CV goodness.

They still go on some places - I don't think I've ever actually seen one - so maybe they are just set up for the local TV cameras (the final cheerful item before the weather)! :D Yeah, I love kids, but they can be tiring. I'm glad I had my own while I was young! :D Thank you! :D Very nice my friend, cool GS knife

Fabulous job of lamb-inating that Navy knife, TK!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks GT! The blade totally rocks, I love it. I'm not too thrilled about the way the handle tweak turned out, though, so I think this one is going to get new covers.

I like your Pocket Pal! Soft spot in my heart for pen knives.
