What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

A late entry but my 2016 EO Jack was my carry for the day.

Thank you joeradza joeradza I really did not have any other choice. My favorite pattern of all is the Remington Baby Bullet Trapper with one blade. And there is something about Lloyd's Amber Stag that I cannot resist. It truly is like looking into a campfire; which is one of my favorite things to do. As someone noted elsewhere, they glow like flames frozen in place. Some might prefer natural color, but the amber does it for me. And as John Lloyd noted, all Sambar Stag is dyed to some degree by the chemicals used to treat it for import.

I do not intend to post such large detailed photos, but that is just how my phone camera does it. If I do not shrink the photos down, they cannot be posted. It is like looking at the knife under a microscope, so it is not quite as colorful as these images indicate. On a large computer screen, the image is slightly distorted. In fact, I can see things in my photographs that are invisible to the naked eye.

The knife has the strongest backspring I have ever encountered. It is very hard to open and closes like a bear trap. Luckily, I prefer that.

Thanks DoublOhSeven.
When I first got it I sanded down some high spots and applied a very light coating of brown leather dye to darken up the white spots left by the sanding and that turned into the mellow yellow it is now.(the mark side is very pithy so the dye really soaked in)
Here it is right after the sanding and dyeing, without the 3+ years of pocket time.

It has aged nicely imo.
Wish I could say the same for myself. ; )

You know what else has aged as nicely as your pocket knife?
Your eye for composition and photography skills.

I am carrying these 2 today while I sit on our back enclosed porch in the sun going over the first knives that were gifted to me and some of the early ones that I bought .
Carrying these :

21 of these were gifted to me :

Then my eyes went to the little guys and I had to compare the smallest to the largest folder that I have which is a Western which is 5 & 1/8 inch .

Then I had to look again at the 2 little Case Mammoth handled ones that I received in 2007 . I actually carried them yesterday morning to exercise at the YMCA but change out in the afternoon .

A lot of memories in this case . The first knife that I bought and then carried for 40 years .///My first Case knife /// My first Stag handled knife /// My first knives given to me by my Kids . Almost all of these are made of Unobtainium .
I have a number of other knives made by Case , but since I have started buying GEC , many of the Case knives get over looked , but that is where most of the memories are .

Harry

Thanks for sharing some of those memories!

Hey! Me too.

Stewmac has grabbed a lot of my money.
But I was spraying lacquer on a Strat body last July 25th, the day my son passed away. I kind of lost my heart for it and that danged body still sits on the spray bench.

Still, I have a bunch of tele pickups, p90s, and hardware, plus a nice big stack of ash that a friend and I milled on his sawmill that's finally dry. I will get back to it soon. As soon as the temps come up and the humidity goes down, I'll see about finishing that spraying.

Cheers!

Thank you very much my friend !!! Memories !!! In 2010 Nancy & I took our entire family to Scotland to celebrate our 50th anniversary and we were sitting on a bench next to the Loch and remembering all of the good times and our kids and grand kids were talking about remembering things about the trip . At that moment , I realized that we were Making Memories for us and them . At my age I have a lot of Memories .

Priceless !! A true blessing and I wish you many more :) I feel of what you speak....I finished 2 carousels of dad's ( the family ) slides. I hope it puts a smile on his face. He really wanted it done and wants to flush out the captions next week. He just turned 90 not long ago. I sure hope he does not have too many more boxes full...lol
