What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I was an assistant Scoutmaster when my boys were in BSA years ago, and even though it was before all of the electronic devices that obsess kids today, it was still a hurculean task keeping those boys on task trying to get their merit badges.
Ever tried teaching 12 year olds how to handle their hatchets and scout knives without losing vital body parts?

Yep, I was an assistant Scoutmaster for 11 years and I understand the idea of the "blood circle" all too well.

Last night, I was online looking at an auction for beautiful old cattle knife. Mint bone scales. It wasn’t until the 4th or 5th photo that I saw why it had a starting bid of $4.95, and no bids.
One blade was broken off.
Seeing your edc pry bar makes me wonder how many old knives would have been preserved if those things were more commonly carried.
Yeah, there is a difference between using and abusing your knife. Having a little pocket tool at hand at the right time can save the tip of your expensive blade.

Ever single day is a treat, just to see what awesome knife you’re carrying.

Thanks, Jack. I like your photo of that Jack by the water.

I've seen others post this Case Stockman lately, so I was inspired to carry mine today. :)

Well done!!! I hated putting down my punch stockman today, but I promised that I’d carry a different Case each day for the next week.

So here is my carry for the day. The usual GEC #42, and my daily Case today is an orange G-10 Jr. Scout. It looks hideous, but I’m working outside today, and the orange is very easy to spot.

The Jr. Scout pattern is an unsung hero of the modern Case lineup. The punch on this small knife (fits in my change pocket) is absurdly sturdy, and just as pointy. The can opener and cap lifter both work quite well, especially considering their diminutive sizes, and the long pen blade is as sharp as can be. I really wish they’d made a yellow Delrin version of this knife, cuz I hate the look of the orange G-10. But like I said, today’s carry is more about function than aesthetics.

If I have one complaint about the Jr. Stockman, it concerns the bail. The bail isn’t fixed, so it tends to flop around a bit.

Yes, it is. For fun, and learning experience.
I ground it out of a huge mower blade. No idea of the steel quality, but it seems to be holding it's edge quite well. It only needs a few strokes on the Sharpmaker, and rarely.
I wanted a shorter food chopper. The handle is from elk antlers sold at Walmart for dog chews.:D
I have some mower blades that fit a mower that I no longer own . If you want them , I could bring them down sometime ..
