What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today is Throwback Thursday Totin' for me. I pulled these codgers out of their cozy cubbies and popped 'em in my pockets. A Case 6202 1/2 from 1920-1940 and a Case 6235 from 1940-1964.

This is a Case SS 6347 jigged Walnut Bone Stockman. When I got it, the blades, bolsters, and covers were highly polished as are most Case SS knives. I don't particularly like a mirror, shiny, finish so, I've been carrying this knife in one pocket or another with extra change or keys and as a finale, I buffed the covers and bolsters with a Scotch-Brite pad. I'm finally satisfied with the dulled look of the knife. The shiny has been knocked right off it and and it's been honed to a sharp, rough, grabby, edge so it's ready to put to use.

Good choices, Ron.:thumbsup: I'm not going to quote all the posts that indicate that others are also carrying Northwoods knives as a memorial for Derrick, but I'm impressed by the gesture.

Thanks for the welcome.
Yes, I teach high school Algebra and Geometry.
Cool! I've been teaching math for 45 years, mostly at the college level. ;)

That is called Wandering Jew (or, as Wikipedia just told me, Tradescantia pallida) . Later in the season when it gets more sunlight, it will flower and the leaves will turn a deep purple.

Thanks for the plant ID, r8shell. I think we've sometimes had potted Wandering Jew plants in our house, but I don't think we currently do. That Northfield 2-blade Barlow is a winner!:cool:

Have a great day, porch denizens!

That top knife looks great, Jeff!:thumbsup::cool: Willing to share a little info about it?

For Wooden Wednesday, I'm totin' this large (4.5") Smith & Wesson lockback hunter, This thing is a tank, but with clean lines. According to Goins, S&W made their own knives from 1974 until 1986 when production was taken over by Vermont Cutlery. Current production may be by Taylor Brands. This knife's only marking is Made in USA stamped on pile side tang.

Thanks GT, that's the Victorian railway viaduct in the North Yorkshire market town of Knaresborough

It's taken from the film 'The Colditz Story', a 1955 film about a famous German WW2 POW camp. ... The real story is actually very interesting

Thanks! The Barlow is such a great knife, and I'm getting lazy just grabbing it or the Churchill in the morning. My other knives are getting jealous!
