What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today, I am carrying my Beer Scout Knife. The reason is simple. It was my grandmother's favorite knife in my collection! She loved the color of the jigged bone and always commented on it. She was the first person I would send a picture to of a new knife arrival. "Oh boy another one?!" Is what she would say. And then she would comment on how beautiful it was. She fought cancer like a grizzly bear, and charged it head on. She passed away yesterday. At the house her and my grandfather built. With loved one surrounding her. What a remarkable woman.

Sincere condolences Taylor, my grandmother is the origin of my fascination with pocket knives:thumbsup:

I’m sorry to hear that, Taylor.
Your story reminds me of my grandmas.
Grandmothers have a unique gift of selfless devotion to their grandkids, and an incredible ability to be genuinely enthused about their interests. I see that in my wife with our three grand children.
I credit my maternal Grandma with my interests in old pocket knives - she gave me Grandpas three well used and well loved knives. As well as his fishing boat, fishing rods, and his guns. I don’t think my cousins would have valued them like I do. I was the only one who begged to go stay with them in the Ozarks every summer, and I carried that on through college, even after we got married.

You will think fond thoughts of her whenever you carry that Beer Scout.

My condolences Taylor, sorry to hear about your grandmother. My grandmother taught me to appreciate good company, good food, and a good drink.Carry it for her and enjoy it in her memory.

Your grandmother sounds like she was a good person, I'm sure she'd get along great with my nagymama.

Love the Dogleg Aaron, can't tell from the pic if it's ebony or micarta. Anyone know a good wax for dense woods, something to buff up to a gloss finish. Some of my older hardwoods don't have that shine anymore.

After a lot of back and forth, even a few dry runs with different knives in the pocket and a lot of back and forth, I settled on the Case/Bose single blade Sowbelly wrapped in Amber Winterbottom Bone scales. I won this 5 and 1/2 years ago in a GAW @TLARbb hosted here on the traditional forum Thanks again Ed. Thanks for the generous GAW as you can see I still have the knife and it gets carried a lot as you can see by the marks from my pocket.

Sorry for your loss, Taylor. I lost my grandmother to cancer also, about 15 years ago. Cancer sucks! My wife is currently battling breast cancer. I can tell you first hand, it's physically, emotionally, and financially draining. Be grateful for all of the memories that your loved ones leave you with, and thankful for time spent with those still in your life. -Lance
