Just had a job review and didn't get fired! I rewarded myself by stopping by a local Ace Hardware that has a small but nice knife selection (Some Buck, Case, Bear & Son, Victorinox) a decent prices.
No pics but I bought me a Black Case SS Sodbuster Jr, sharp out of the box and great F&F. My first Soddie and I already know I want more, such a real working knife...

Cleaned up my Grandfather's Old Timer last night and have been carrying it today (along with a CRK 21). I love the patina on the blades.

I agree Tony, nice Old Timer!

I have the same two again today, the chestnut bone Case Peanut and the french ivory A.W. Wadsworth & Son sleeveboard pen.

Here is some fun I had snapping pictures of them earlier this afternoon while taking a break.

Very enviable Sleeveboard that one.

Queen Cutlery Teardrop liner-lock in ACSB. One of my pantheon knives....

the only one i have that isnt an antique. because of that, im not afraid to use it. AWESOME knife for the kinda-low price. 40 bucks.........
ik, kinda high, but i bought it from a guy who buys them to sell. he had to make money too, so i didnt really complain

Went for a little hike and did some whittling.

remind me to start my next ball in cage from a bigger piece of wood. This was my first and I thought "Hey, less wood = less carving." only to find out it means way more tight spaces, and less forgivable for mistakes.... :) Broke the ball loose today, but still needs a lot of shaping.

I had these two today. But it's Friday and the night is young, so I'm switching to my new (to me) S&M Sowbelly.

Hi Bladeboss, the funny looking blade is a leather punch and very effective it is too. one of my old belts now has more holes than leather! I've put a link to a great thread about harness jacks below

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Jacks-Special-Orders?highlight=harness+jacks

Thanks Kevin,

Yes I love the pattern, great shape in the hand, I like the extra width the harness punch gives you and it tucks out of the way nicely. The blade is a smidge under 3" so UK legal for the weekends when I'm not working:) Also much more useful than I thought it would be.

F & F is top notch, only a couple of issues; usual story with GEC's and the spear blade, despite reprofiling the edge to convex i'm still having to close it gently. No biggie, a few more sharpen's and I think it'll be clear. The odd thing was the scale you can see in my pic had poorly applied lacquer on it?! Spent an evening trying to figure why before biting the bullet, sanding it back to the bone and buffing it on my strop. Now it looks great. The only reason I could think of was to protect the exposed/aged face of the bone but the lacquer didn't cover the entire scale so any moisture etc would still seep in where the scale had been shaped. Weird! Any thoughts from other peep's with primitive bone gratefully received:)

Sam

Sounds like a nice one Sam! Nice review of it :)

I'm clueless about the way they finish the primitve bone though.
