Last weekend, we went to a friends house for a barbecue. Knowing I am a knife knut, he gifted me a Rambo III reproduction bowie. I remember lusting after these as a kid, and it doesn't disappoint as a wall hanger. I found out that his teenage son is an avid fisherman, so I gifted my friend my old Imperial fish knife, so he would have something to slit fish bellies on a lazy fishing afternoon with his son. Of course, I had to get a replacement. Came in the mail today:

Darned if it doesn't have the factory edge! It's a saber grind instead of flat, like the one I gave away, but it's so thin, I don't think I'll notice. All I've done so far is clean some lint and oil the joints. I think we're going to get along.
 
Today, I have a Pal in my pocket - a Pal Cutlery Co. cattle knife that was likely made during the 1945-1953 period after Pal had taken over Remington's cutlery production and facilities (and moved production to Holyoke, MA), and was most likely built on Remington patterns and tools.

Those are two knives I admire very much indeed :thumbsup: I'm lucky enough to have some 38s and one I use a lot, beautiful yet versatile and unusual knives. I also particularly like that Bonestag Teardrop, I'll have to get one once/if the money horizon reappears ;) hopefully soon! Glad you are moving about, hope your recovery from the operation proceedes well:thumbsup:

That's a compelling knife, Dave! :cool::thumbsup::cool: What are the covers? Some kind of red stag? Kind of looks like Queen's amber carved stag bone.
GT- I had to look back in GEC"s archives,its been a while ;) "Great Eastern Cutlery Tidioute Cutlery 2008 Brimstone Bone 542208M Moose Knife" I was pretty green when I started purchasing all the new models, I have no idea if its cow bone stag or o_O
No matter, it's a good looker, these early cigars were heavy but skookum :p
