What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks for the comparison; I didn't realize that 79 had 3 springs! That's an impressive spear blade on your 99!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Anytime, my friend. While the spear on the 99 is very useful, I sometimes daydream ebony shadow pattern 99 with a clip blade. :D

Carried this hard worker today.

Like those! Reminded me that I have a yellow Country Cousin that should see more work. The blade shape is much better than the CASE equivalent and the D2 is far ahead of any CASE ss or cv;)

Thanks Jack. We went, we ate, we conquered but it was too hot out to kick back and enjoy nature so we're home enjoying the swamp cooler.

Sounds good Ed, hope it'll be getting a little cooler for you soon :)

:D I don't know about that, but it sure doesn't feel like fall around here, yet! :p

Elegant Penknife Rachel

Did the sandpaper and toothpick trick and got pull down from 10 to about an 8. Much better.

Good stuff, hope you take to it

Traded for this and spent the day with it in my pocket. Larger than I usually carry, but really well built.

This is unmarked, but the largest-showroomed e-tailer said it was a Western. (I don't know how many decades ago.)

I was searching for stainless jacks, and not finding much. The Texas Jack is too small. Then myself said, "Self, do really need a stainless jack? You have two Frost's doctors, several Sabots, that nice Boker with your favorite pair of blades, and four trappers that are stainless".
Most of the trappers are over 3" bladed, but this one is exactly 3", so I'll see how it carries. I might round off the edges a bit.
Edited to add: I think this Western was a second. I keep feeling for the spay's nail-nick on the same side as the clip, but it's on the other side.

This Twosday is hotter than Hades with humidity matching the temp, so it'll be a slow and easy day for me. I need to drop by my local hardware store, so I'll be totin' these older fellers just "in case" I need to something to chat with the regulars about: a Case 02 (1920-1940) and a Case 35 (1940-1964).

I won't quibble with your assessment, Will, as I like the Country Cousin, too. Your blade steel comparison, however, applies to the "modern" Queen production. The two Case 37's below (the green from 1975, the black from 1978) have stainless blades, while the Queen 70 (1978) at bottom has a 440C stainless steel. The Cases are slightly larger (3 1/8" blades, 3 5/8" closed) than the Queen (3" blade, 3 1/2" closed), The Queen blade has slightly more drop and belly, which may lead to your handling preference. The knife posted by flatblackcapo flatblackcapo seems to have that blade contour. I'd like to see your yellow Queen 70 someday.

CORRECTION: The SBJr at the top has a CV blade.
