What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

wxquB6K.jpg

A Sheffield barlow today.

Carried this Northfield 44 to the YMCA and then to coffee . A few of my friends want me to bring my new knives to show . They do not buy any but they like to see mine .

Then this was in the mail when we got back and I then carried it the rest of the day .

Really like the Gunstock pattern . This now makes 5 Gunstocks that I have . Will have to post a group photo someday .

Stainless for me today. Rain for the next week!

Enchanting knife, Mark!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Elk antlers? What model is that? GEC #72?

Carried one of my Bulldog Tobacco Barlows to the YMCA and coffee to show to my friends . Like this knife a lot . Sway Back Barlow with a sheep foot and Pen ....

...
Harry
That's a sweet and distinctive Barlow, Harry!:thumbsup::cool: Green bone, swayback, 2 blades, matchstick long pull, unique bolster, Bulldog tang stamp - everything about it is highly desirable in my book!:cool::cool:

I like that. Lambcliffe it is then
I know now why you guys like your lambsfoot blades so much, this lambscliffe is a very useful blade shape.
Good to hear your report about the blade shape, John.:thumbsup: I think I'll eventually get a knife like that one, although I'll probably opt for yellow delrin and CV steel.

Had these two twoday.
You've reached an impressive tipping point, Nick! ;):thumbsup: (I'm not doing very well so far at remembering, without reminders, the makes/models of the fabulous knives you post. :()

...
Thank you, GT, but they got pretty chatty (and I bought two items that I didn't know that I needed). And thank you and Jack Black Jack Black for your constant supportive commentary on this thread. It is, truly, comforting.
...

Thanks for the props, Gary! I always like reading your posts and appreciate how much time and effort you put into each one. :):)

Shows what I know about hardware store regulars!:rolleyes: Thanks for the commentary compliments, Stuart & Ratbert. :)

...
Thanks GT, that's a nice bright and breezy trio, I have a couple of Secretary's, but they don't have that lustrous lipstick-red :)

Thanks for your positive opinion on the knives I posted, Jack. :) You're toting a couple of champs!:cool::thumbsup:

I'm totin' two today, Ebony from Sheffield and Osage from Titusville. :)

Both splendid wood examples, Ron!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I'm partial to the Osage Orange with pertained blades!

Can't let checkered bone pass without noting my envy! ;):thumbsup:

My goal for the month was to carry at least two traditionals with one being stag.

You're making this a September to remember, Alan, with the pairs you're planning!:thumbsup::cool:

Hi all. Sorry I've been away for so long, but the summer has been just too good for Internet time. I just got back yesterday from a month of camping in the Adirondacks with Abby, my 12-year old daughter. ...

And while I packed a ton of knives to play with, the extra knives weren't required. I tossed Rondeau, my ironwood 77 Barlow, into my pocket on the first day, and it stayed there for the entire trip. ...
Welcome back, Buzz! :) Sounds like you, Abby, and Rondeau had a sensational month together! :):thumbsup::cool:

I'm carrying the Cattle Knife and coon fingering my new Robertson Pacheco.

Oh and more rain.......yippee!!! :mad::oops:
View attachment 979564
Looks like a dandy drop point on the Robertson, Jason; congrats!:thumbsup::thumbsup: How big is that knife?

Those Harvesters are tough hombres! That's the model with both saw and pruner, right?:cool::thumbsup:

I carry it in my pocket today.

I enjoy seeing that practically perfect TC Barlow again, Señor Pinto!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Both Churchills, man and knife, deserve the title Young Titan, Ken! ;):cool::thumbsup:

...
Well, I decided to try something a bit different today and am going with this #15 for my carry. I have not taken the opportunity to try this one with the chain so we will see how it performs.

I4EiSnl.jpg
Thanks for the photos, Dylan.:thumbsup::cool: That looks like too much chain for me to manage!:rolleyes:

...
Today I'm carrying this Maserin Plow sodbuster for the first time. I kept the factory edge on this one (which is unusual for me) because it's so good.

ygCMKUG.jpg

...
Great pic of an intriguing knife, Barrett!:cool::thumbsup:

...Those are very cool pics Barrett  I have Maserin soddies in olive wood and horn, haven't carried either in a long time, though I do like them :) What is that, bocote?

I think this might actually be one of the first pics I posted here :)

View attachment 979718
Jack, that photo of your Maserin sodbuster, posted much earlier, inspired me to decide to try to get "sodbusters from around the world". ;):thumbsup: I haven't made much progress yet, but it's still something I think about.

Have this S&M Barlow courtesy of @mrknife in my pocket today.

Here is a Rough Rider Canoe HCS its a very good knife for those edc chores.

I have more that 2 dozen RR canoes, I think, but not that one! Looks great, Dave!:thumbsup::cool: What does the HCS stand for?? (I feel kinda uninformed sometimes.)

I proclaim that this perfect pairing of a Peanut pleases me profusely! And a little Wooden Wednesday doesn't hurt.

I like all your recent pairs involving a peanut and something bigger, Darren!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

2001 Chestnut Texas Jack in CV. To me, this one holds its own against vintage Case knives. It’s a big knife at 4 inches closed, but carries well.
W:eek:W! 4 inches is bigger than I think of for a Case Texas Jack, but I guess the knife I have in mind is usually called a "small Texas Jack". Your big one is a beauty, Leslie!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Monarchical little Barlow, Dwight!! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Still bucking the system.

P.s. you'll be seeing one of these antlers in an upcoming project;)
Lotta pleasure for 3 Bucks, MH! ;):thumbsup: Looking forward to your project.

Keen Kutter jack in ebony from 1870-1940. At 3 5/8", it fits fine in a pair of jeans,

That's a memorable knife, Stuart! We've seen that unusual "barehead equal-end knife" before, I think!:thumbsup::cool:

Ebony 44 today:thumbsup:

Great looking covers on the stag! Definitely post a group shot for us!

5K Qs 5K Qs Thank you for the kind words. The Pacheco is 4 1/8" closed. In all honesty opened and in hand it feels no bigger than a 3 7/8" knife. It is a real joy to use. Tim builds a great knife!

Thanks GT! I’m fond of the Osage Orange as well my friend! :D

Thanks for posting this Barrett, I didn't know there was going to be a second run and I really like the first plow.

Same here, and I think that bleached canvas micarta looks pretty good, but the prospect of Torx screws instead of pins and a bird’s eye pivot doesn’t excite me much. :(

Yes, in deed, it merited another carry (and was the closest wood covered knife at hand yesterday). I'm normally drawn to the toothpicks and that Imperial is nice, but the Office Knife is very nice.

I decided to "go for something completely different today." (to paraphrase Monty Python)
Marbles 139 Fish Knife went on the lanyard, and pushed the 110 out of its sheath.
I still had the 371 stockman and a Bundeswehr SAK in the trike's tool bag. :)

Hello GT :) HCS stands for high carbon steel, with a titanium dark coating on the blade as well. I liked the first one so much I purchased a second one right away before they were sold out.

Thanks GT! The left one is 3 3/8” old arch stamp Schrade sleeveboard pen. The other one is a 3 1/8” Utica Kutmaster equal end pen covered in faux mammoth which had pretty bad blade play when I first got it. I squeezed it with a C-clamp and now it has almost no play at all and she walks and talks with authority!

My internet connection seems to be in a coma this morning, wouldn't load everyone's pics :(

It’s been a while since I have carried this one. 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot and pocket slip in the pocket today. :D

Looking good as ever Ron :)

That's more than enough knife for anyone, Jack.

Thank you Stewart :)

Good-looking Lambsfoot :)

Jack good luck with that appointment my friend! I sincerely hope you get some relief for that back! Your photo this morning really shows the beauty of the stag on your Ashley’s Lambsfoot! :D

Thanks a lot my friend, I've just realised I've got another appointment this morning!

I haven't carried my excellent Churchill in quite some time. Today, I am remedying that and it is accompanied by the ever present variety of Lambsfoot.

@Travman that Viper is gorgeous. I've been trying to find one but seems I'm a bit late or IMO the seller just wants to much for the one their selling.:eek: I'll catch one at a good price one day.

Here's what I've had with me today. Maserin from Jack Black Jack Black , the 15 from @mrknife he modded to a clip point. This is an older photo but I always carry these two together I call them the Jack Pack. :D:D
