What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

You were pretty close, it's a '56 .
I used to be into building car kits, mostly VW's , several years back. It has probably been 10 or 15 years since I even touched a kit. I dug out some of my old un-built kits just to see what I still have hangin' around.
Here is a pic of '56's box and one of the engine from a Ferrari 312T kit that I started but obviously never finished. Maybe I will do a little work on that engine this weekend. I would love to see some pics of your models, if you have any.

Haven't posted many pictures of late. I am afraid I am becoming a bit boring with my carries as I tend to just carry the same knives over and over.

We don't care, just sit on the Porch and share. We all have repetitive carries because we REALLY LOVE certain knives. Or we are lazy sometimes. It's all good.

I find it better to have a knife that is liked enough to be carried most of the time, the problem I have is an overwhelming amount of other knives that I also want to carry, usually new acquisitions that are not slated for collecting and preserving only. Even then there is still a good size group of knives that I could carry all the time and be happy with any one of them.

I have a soft spot for old air cooled Vw's .
My first car, also at 16, was a '66 VW Bug.
Was your '58 a bug?
Shoot me a PM if ya feel like talkin' VW's.

Finally I have some time to get this accomplished . Very slow internet here . Left Great Falls , Montana and went into the East side of Glacier National Park as far as Logan's Pass . Then back out and around the South end of the park because the through highway in the park was closed due to the Forrest Fire . Finally got to West Glacier and could not get to our resort because the railroad crossing was closed and had a 30 mile detour around that .
Carrying these 2 today : Old Pics of knives .

Went into the Blackfeet Indian Nation area .

Shortly before getting to the park on Hwy .89

Just inside the park on The Road To The Sun

The next 3 were all taken at Logan's Pass

We have been to Glacier one other time and to Yellowstone 4 times and never had we seen a Grizzly in the wild . That all change today at Logan's Pass .

First toting of my latest project, since I finished her up last night. I won a bid on this Camco Scout for less than the very reasonable shipping charge. I had intended to caniballize the awl blade to put in a TL-29 to make a harness jack, but when I got it I liked it too much. Carried some, but never sharpened, and strong smooth snaps. The awl blade was cocked over toward the main causing jamming and blade rub, so it needed to be tweaked a bit, and the ugly plastic handles had shrunk.
Here it is broken down.View attachment 984971This is how the mart of wal sells buffalo horn dog chews...they are zip tied to a piece of cardboard with the label and bar code.View attachment 984967Cutting scales...View attachment 984968And after getting her all back together and sanded to 2000 grit, I have a new love.:DView attachment 984969View attachment 984970

Sorry to hear about the detours, but wow! You sure are seeing the beauty of God’s creation. Hope you can get to your resort!

Well done my friend .

Thanks, Harry!

When I was nine years old we traveled from Arkansas to Montreal to the 1967 World's Fair in a old VW camper bus. It was about 4000 miles round trip. Total gas expenditure was under $100. Loved that rig. :)
Man, that was a lot of miles in the ole camper. Those old family trips bring to mind the Griswolds going to Wally World. :p

Enjoying your incredible road-trip pics Harry

That one always makes me stop and stare my friend :)

I'm sticking with these two today :) Have a great weekend folks

Damn cellphone camera can't get the colour I got to my new Otter with propably mahogany handle by oiling and waxing, so this is yeasterdays picture. Anyway it's not news that oil and beeswax do good to wood. Promised to carry the Hippekniep, but the 168 just carries so well.

Well, at least I tried. The light and camera just don't work.

Oh yeah, it was a bug, light green in color. After the bug, I had a Corvair that was one scary car to drive, especially on the corners.
,

I had a '64, and I'm an admirer of the old Beatles, too! I got to drive a Corvair once that belonged to my uncle. He was always trading cars and even had a Renault Dauphin for a while. I think the most interesting feature of that car was the horn switch. It had two modes: "city horn" and "country horn".

Beautiful photos of beautiful country Harry. You're right about the grizzly. That's a good distance to see them at. Close enough to see, far enough to be safe.
Inconsequential knife photo after that.
