What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I keep eyeballing that same knife but with orange handles. I may pull the trigger on it one day. Seems like a solid knife for the money.
It sure is John, mine has no play in any direction, if thats all I had to carry I would be satisfied.

Beautiful knife, and sassafras leaves!

Camillus #70 today

Steve, every time you show that knife, I get sweaty palms.

You'd better burn that wood up this winter or the fungus will eat it all up.
Like the Queen soddie. Is that full or Jr sized?

Going light today, so I'm totin' this Böker 93 slim trapper (1960-1970) in my pocket. The sun is finally out for a while (or so it is predicted), but I'm keeping rubber boots at hand.

First time I looked, earlier in the day, I was loving on the nice blade. I don't know how I missed the scales!
Holy gorgeous bone, Batman. No way that was jigged on a machine.

Never been a big fan of stag....until I came across this one. Really nice in hand too.

Well, that's a nice one for sure. One thing I like about stag is that each piece seems to be unique.
I sure hope that page title is not a bad omen!

Good looking pair, Jeff. I let the tradition slip in my carry selection, but I'll post this in solidarity with you:

Thanks, Stuart! Love the Keencutter!

Great shot!
The colors could have inspired the cutler.

Thanks! It gets cold up here, the wood will definitely make it’s way into the fireplace in a few months :D Queen’s #70 Country Cousin is similar size as a Sodbuster Jr. Only differences I know of are steel and a slightly more pointed blade profile.

After posting the picture of my modded one blade 33ot yesterday it really struck me how much that knife has changed in the last couple of years, so I stuck it in my pocket today... here's a before and after. The micarta is especially surprising to me

I mentioned a few days ago that one of the first knives I ever bought was a brand new 33OT back in the 70's. Just a great knife as is, but I really love your mod!
You mentioned wrestling a bit getting the spring tension right. Was it the center pin that caused the trouble? I bought two broken 194OT trappers. One had a good blade, but a broken spring, the other had no blade, but a good spring. I made one decent knife out of the two ~ not perfect, but a good learning experience. I just drilled through for the hinge pin. I had no idea how to deal with the Swinden key.
And yes, the micarta looks wonderful!

A Camillus and a Camillus.
Really nice!

@Jack Black ~

Since it's after 3:00 am your time as I write this, hopefully you will get my best wishes for a nice hike while you drink your morning coffee. Or should I say tea?

Thanks @JB in SC for selling me an oily creek bone 14 in true porch fashion. Love the bone and shield.

Macro lens reveals the fine work for such a small shield on textured bone. Like that it's slightly recessed, won't snag.

Second one of those shown here in the last couple of days. Love it!

I am carrying this Bulldog today while I am going back over some pictures that I took with my phone during our trip .

We made some new friends while we were in Jackson , Wyoming

Harry
Love the tobacco knife, Harry! And that is a fantastic souvenir!!!
Better cover those roses, we've got a frost advisory tonight!

I've had this "A New Day" TC Barlow for 4 years and it pleases me every time I look at it and carry it (well done Charlie and GEC).

A clipspey!

Geesh this thread moves fast

Cleaning my property line today. 3 more good days and I’ll be done. Chainsaw broke. Catching the small stuff with nippers. @315 s frontier helping on her last day with me. Terrible focus I see now.

Whatchoo talkin 'bout? The pine needles are in sharp focus!:D
Is that the PutAPatinaOnMyKnife knife?

A fortunate find in the Exchange. A well kept #6 or #7 from the 1950s. Razor sharp.

Speaking of great lighting and good photography...

Stainless on a damp hike.

You are well equipped, and coming from a flatlander, you have some beautiful terrain to hike in!

Very nice! Great stag.
And since it's ok for real men to like pink, I love the flower, too.

Thanks Stuart, nice Black Friday addition

Thanks, Tom.

I just had to go in the big sporting goods store when we were in Mitchell , South Dakota and took this photo inside .

Harry, I'll be in that same store, as I have been for the last 12 years, in October for pheasant season. I've spent a lot of $$ in that place and state. Great folks out there.

Thank you, Stuart! This one is USA made in the mid '90s, and I suspect by Camillus. You ALWAYS show beautiful knives, and the slim trapper is no exception . . . being exceptional! :D

Thanks, Jeff. That's a fine knife regardless of parentage.

Stuart, the bone on your Boker slimline trapper is superb!:thumbsup:

Thanks, Dean. It is light and really rides fine in the pocket, And sharp!

Thanks Stuart! :) Your Boker is looking mighty fine as well today! :D

Thanks, Ron. I saw your fine carries. Don't be sheepish.

Today in my pocket...

That is a great looking Case. Thank you for sharing it (and feel free to show it again).

Found this yellow Boker I had misplaced a while back. It's not an expensive knife but its actually pretty darn nice. :D

Yes, it actually is pretty darn nice. That's a fine knife!!

This ‘ole thing today... worked the edge over and now the blade etch speaks the truth....

Ouch! Really good looking like a good knife should be - and sharp looking, too.

Many people are not lucky enough to get to see as much of this BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY as I have and I just would like to give them a small glance at it .

Thak you, Harry, for the effort and thought put into sharing your adventure. Yes, God bless America, as she has been blessed, and let us all enjoy and preserve her beauty.

First time I looked, earlier in the day, I was loving on the nice blade. I don't know how I missed the scales!
Holy gorgeous bone, Batman. No way that was jigged on a machine.

Thanks, Jeff. I don't know their machinations; I do know that I didn't jig it, if that was your inquiry ;):).

Thanks, Stuart! Love the Keencutter!

Thanks, again, Jeff. Just trying to keep up the the standards of this thread.

Thank you! That Ka-Bar you toting today is awesome. Are the covers ebony or synthetic? Either way it’s gorgeous.

Well, thank you as well!
The scales are plastic. I do wish they were something like ebony or cocobolo, but I suspect that as a working man's knife, something more indestructible was more appropriate.

I’m carrying two favorites today. Favorites because as pocket knives go, they are damned near perfect imo. But even more so because they were both gifts from fine porch denizens, r8shell r8shell (L),
and @Chief (R). Thanks again, friends!
:)
Yikes! I keep hearing the F word this morning. Frost advisory.
Then, back to 80’s Monday.
I can't wait for frost! It's not because I like the cold; it's because I hate bugs. Years without a hard freeze in the winter means a buggy spring.
This is Nick. He used to be a Nicholson file, and he was adopted from the flea market for a 50 cent adoption fee. He wears elk stag for Stagurday.View attachment 994456View attachment 994457
Nice! Did you grind and haft it yourself? Good job.

It's Oddball Saturday around here.
