What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

@Prester John @5K Qs That '84 Tigers team was phenomenal. As a Red Sox fan, I remember all too well.

So my shameless Red Sox book plug is "The Teammates - A Portrait of Friendship" by David Halberstam (or just read any and everything by David Halberstam).

Swiped from the big online bookstore: "At the core of the book is the friendship of these four very different men--Boston Red Sox teammates Bobby Doerr, Dominic DiMaggio, Johnny Pesky, and Ted Williams--who remained close for more than sixty years."
Thanks, JB! Halberstam is a good writer. Will look for that book too.
Pulling for the Astros tonight, though!

Sexy sleeveboard, Jack. Luminous!

You have a potent pair there, Ron.

I vote for Voos.

Very nice picture, r8shell, though I was hoping they were drenched in mineral oil.

Great old knife, Gev.

Thatnk you and Fodderwing Fodderwing for the OT love.

And the bar lifts just a bit more. You and Nick are doing a great job keeping the old knife banner flying.

Fabulous fungal photo, Travis.

That's a great picture of a fine knife, Ken.

I was captivated by that mini copperhead, Dean. It is really sinuous.

Thanks, Gev. Just trying to keep up with all of the others.

Wow, Nick. You and Steve are bringing the cool heat with some honest old knives. Thanks.

Great pictures, again, Jack. The irony is not lost on Gevonovich Gevonovich or me that Bentley's Oysters are/were located in Swallow Street. Classic, as is that lovely tasty sleeveboard.

Robust and good looking,

That's a fie pair for Twosday, Jeff. I can only get halfway there today, as I have to get "dressed up" and go shopping with my wife. It's sorta like "deer shopping" - lots of walking and looking - but without the fresh air and solitude.

Those lovely AC Foot O'Lambs are as thick as fleas on a cur dog around here these days, but that orange camel bone is an eye-catcher, Ron. What a beauty! Congratulations on both.

He' a handsome old boy, at that, r8shell.

I liked your earlier pairing with your wee stag, Alan, but this pair is the ticket. Maybe it's the similarly smooth surfaces.

Spectacular pictures, John. Thanks for sharing them.

Thanks, GT. I don't notice the notch, yet finger placement seems to give a secure hold and adequate leverage when slicing. Hwen closed, it is placed at the widest section of the blade and a bit forward of mid-point, so leverage in opening is excellent. The nail nick is almost redundant. I like your EDC selection today, especially the inscribed Alox.

Thanks for the kind words Stuart

I feel into a trap of going shopping with my wife today, so I'm carrying light for a Twosday. A Queen #19 trapper (1958-1960) - at least it's two blades today.

Edited to add: I just noticed that I was able to capture, not only the tree reflections, but also the overhead phone/cable lines in the spey blade.

Great-looking knife there Stuart :) And a great book title! :D :)

Jack Black Jack Black Really enjoy seeing your old pen knives! The covers on your Lambsfoot is beautiful.

@5K Qs Thank GT! It’s hard for me to go a day without a pen knife. On days when I don’t post a pic of a pen knife, I still have one in my pocket but don’t wanna bore you guys showing the same knives. I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, I love the Case Soddie. Is that an alox solo with your name etched on the blade? Gift from your school? I’ve been really tempted to get one lately. Looks like such a reliable user knife.

@Duckdog Thanks Stuart! Sorry you got trapped to go shopping with your wife, I feel your pain. With that awesome trapper you’re toting today, you’re supposed to be the trapper, not the trappee!!(is that even a word?):D

I really enjoy this Camillus rope knife. At 3 1/4” with some meat in the handle, it feels great in hand is razor sharp. It’s in my pocket today along with a pen knife, of course.

Thanks a lot Nick, great to see that Camillus Rope Knife again, one of my favourite patterns :)

Make the reservations

I'm on it my friend, though we may have to do the washing-up! ;) :D

Thank you, Jack. Very nice to see you sporting some vibrant autumn colors with your choices today.

A stunning picture, Ron. I do think you got some of the best coloring in that particular run of Orange Camel Bone.

You have quite the occupation. Though I do not know enough about it to say it is enviable, I certainly wouldn't mind the river views on a daily basis. Excellent knife choice as well!

Decided to keep a nice black duo close at hand today.

Thanks Dylan, some lovely-looking ebony there

Just beautiful Gev :)

Incredible photo Jack.

Thank you very much :)

A very nice combo Ron and nice deep orange on that 43:thumbsup::cool: still meaning to call you, man life gets busy:oops::eek:
Thanks Paul! :) I’m sure we’ll catch up soon my friend! :)

That pairing sings, Ron!!!
Thanks Gev! I appreciate it! :)

Ron & Randy, those are a couple of sensational stag pairs you gentlemen posted!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Thank you Gary! :)

You have a potent pair there, Ron.

Those lovely AC Foot O'Lambs are as thick as fleas on a cur dog around here these days, but that orange camel bone is an eye-catcher, Ron. What a beauty! Congratulations on both.
Thanks for the compliments my friend! :)

Thanks Dylan! Some of my best looking GEC’s seem to be store models! I was very pleased when I took this 43 out of the tube! :) A beautiful pair of Ebony’s your totin today!

Oh my Gev!!! :D

They look okay as a pair but I guess if you carried your 43 Stag instead of the Ashley's Choice , they may pull your pants down . NOT a pretty mental picture my friend .
That is a couple of very nice looking knives my friend .

Harry
Thanks for the compliments my friend! I am beyond pleased with this 43. :) HaHa! Not a pretty real image either!!! :p :D

Fantastic knife, fantastic photo! You exceed yourself, Jack.:thumbsup::thumbsup::)

Thanks for supporting my chestnut bone holdings, Dean, but the Case walnut Rogers jig bone knives are just as desirable, I think, and that stockman is a ravishing example to prove my point!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: (That series sure didn't stay in production very long! :()

As is true every day of every week, I'm carrying these knives:

Thank you, Gary. I agree about the Walnut Rogers jig bone knives; one of Case's stellar series.

Speaking of stellar, your daily quartet are enviable (including the newest addition).:)

I was captivated by that mini copperhead, Dean. It is really sinuous.

- Stuart

Thank you, Stuart. I was drawn to it by Gary's (GT) postings of his. Once I received mine, it started to grow on me. It is one of two knives in contention for my EDC.

So true! I get so tempted by all the new acquisitions that come in waves from each new GEC run, and the 14 looks great.
I fight it off by looking at my cigar box of Camillus TL-29s I bought to mod. They make a knife very similar to the 14 is size and urility. Plus, I need the practice.
If only it was possible given my hand tools and skill to make a long pull clip out of a nail nick spear!
Your Boker certainly holds it’s own against the latest run.
Ah yes, I've got a pile of old knives to mod, too. Thank you for the Boker compliment. It was a gift from Marko.
Very nice picture, r8shell, though I was hoping they were drenched in mineral oil.
They got a few drops of oil after a proper drying. :)

My first Bulldog. I've been on the lookout for a while now for one the earlier Bulldogs at a reasonable price. Finally scored this one at a fair price. It is date stamped 1993 which, I believe, makes it a 3rd generation Bulldog. This knife is very well made with great w & t, no gaps and no blade play.

Man that's a sweet Stockman! Makes me a little green!

Last couple days. Prolly a couple more as well.

I’ve alwsys wanted the Bulldog Groundhog aka Browne and Pharr canoe.

I’ll probably never find a real Browne & Pharr but I’d settle for a Groundhog, even those aren’t cheap.

The Browne & Pharr was probably the first takedown folder.

Here’s the Bulldog Groundhog I usually see listed.

Always thought it was a cool pattern, some day. That one’s been on my long list for many years. Always waiting for the unexpected knife find and the B&P would make a great find.

Even as worn as the first knife is, it’s still a cool knife and pattern.
