What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

@5K Qs & JohnDF JohnDF

I use an Edge Pro Apex (small knife attachment too!).

I'm able to keep my kitchen knives at 12 and/or 15 degrees per side with ease.

As far as GEC's, those are a breeze at 18 to 22 degrees per side.

Then a Flexx leather strop(s) and Bark River compound(s) keep everything spiffy! :D

Not only has it saved $$$ in the long run, but also eliminated my knives being ruined.

Is that becoming a Sunday tradition for you, Dean, or is it just selective attention on my part? Handsome choice! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thank you, Gary, in answer to your question above: I like to carry a pretty knife to church on Sunday, and more frequently than not my white bone Copperlock ends up in my pocket.

Speaking of pretty, your RR 4-blade stockman is a beauty! :thumbsup:

For the past two days while at the hospital I carried these two knives! My baby girl was born yesterday! All healthy mama doing good too! Great early Christmas present to my family.

These two blades will hold a special place in my collection.

That's a fantastic canoe/shadow pen pair, Nick! Breath-taking, heart-stopping - I'm lucky I survived seeing the photo!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:;) I think the color of the patina might depend at least as much on the material being cut as it does on the specific composition of the carbon steel.
Lol thanks Gary, love your comments! I used it to cut the usual foods that I do with my other carbon steel knives like apples, pears, avocados, celery, ham, cheese and such. The only thing out of the norm was some spam that I cut up the other day. The spam could have been the culprit I guess...

I've been on a bit of a "spree" lately, so I've been putting new knives in my pocket daily, and sometimes twice daily. This user Cuban arrived today: just a quick oiling and in the pocket it went. I'll put the final touches on the edges tonight while watching the football game.

Thanks for the encouraging words, Ted. :) Congrats on that pair of knives you posted recently that you rejuvenated, and thanks for the how-to post describing your cleaning methods! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks. :) How would you describe differences between your Imperial Barlow and this DE version?

Thanks for the correction, Vince & Dean; what this country needs is a good Latin spellcheck app! ;)
Thanks for the sowbelly support, Dean. :)

I was going to say your stag 66 was mesmerizing, Paul, but then I saw your sunset pic to put things into a broader perspective!! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup:;)

Both standout selections, FBC! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks for saying so, Stuart and Senhor José. :)

Thanks for the stag remark, Jack. :) Your opening selection for the week is an auspicious pair!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Pristine Peanut! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Intriguing knife, Dave (and some amazing indoor pics you've posted lately)! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

That Camillus stockman is a knife to enthuse over, Jer!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: Is the yellow knife in your quintet the one you found under the snow on your front sidewalk one spring??

Butterscotch, Ken!! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

That stockman hit me like a punch, Steve! :thumbsup::cool:;)

Classic pair, Gev! :cool::thumbsup::cool: (And are those 3 seasonal wise men from the East? ;))

Pretty pair of celluloid examples, Stuart! :thumbsup::cool::cool: That N. C. CO. knife is certainly a cut above what the current Novelty Knife Co. provides! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Gorgeous old cross red Alox!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Classy knife, John! :cool::cool::thumbsup: Are you happy with the performance of your Lansky set-up? I wish I could find a rod-based system that offered steeper angles (15, 12, even 10 degrees per side).

Really like the big distinctive pen on that model, Paul! :cool::cool::thumbsup: Texas Jack, right? I wish that knife came with round bolsters (and the same blades). :rolleyes:

Don't play poker with Ron, folks! He has both black aces up his sleeve! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks for the comments, Tom. :) Sorry your football hopes are fading, but that pair of knives should bring some joy into your life! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

The only ifference besides the blade etch is the shapleigh DE logo on the " bolster " , but these are pretty plain jane and ordinary knives so having the different stamping in the bolster just sets it apart which is cool.
