What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I'm totin' the Buck forum knife again today. This really is a splendid knife!

GREAT knives and pictures guys!!!:cool::cool::cool:

That ironwood lambsfoot is such a star, it travels with its own hype man! :D

Thanks Rachel :D

Cool cutlery, Jack!

(Incidentally, I think the "What-a-Knife" was a promotion at one time for "Whataburger" (which may have been hyphenated at one time), a Texas hamburger restaurant chain which began in my home town of Corpus Christi, Texas in 1950. They have some restaurants in nearby southern and southwestern states.)

Edit: I have been corrected regarding the origin of the "WHAT-A-KNIFE". See post #130588 by @r8shell. It was an April Fool's joke!

(It would be a great idea, though.) ;)

One of the best April Fool's Day jokes we've had here :) Barrett had noted my appreciative comments about Rachel's knife, and sought one out for me :) Pretty cool huh?

Dark start to the day made brighter with these two

Nice Elk and Sambar combo Joshua

Something new for me today, but definitely not a new knife. I've always wanted a Remington RS3333, but they tend to be pretty expensive. I finally landed this one for a reasonable price earlier this week.

Congratulations Buzz

Beautiful wood on that Lambsfoot, Jack, and very generous gifts, Barrett.

Thank you very much John

What-a-Joke! Would love to have a knife come with every Whataburger, though! I'd probably have thousands. ;)
Or at least as many as Jack!

:D

TGIF folks! Happy Winter Solstice to those of us in the Northern Hemisphere!

Yes Gary, Happy Winter Solstice folks :) I am sure looking forward to the days starting to get longer again

Jack I’m envious of Barrett! Maybe if we ever win the lottery Pam and I can come for a visit and see your beautiful and historic country! If this Lambsfoot is English Yew, as I suspect it may be, it is a beautiful wood! (EDIT I HAVE FOUND IT IS INDEED IRONWOOD WOOD!) It’s very well suited for the Lambsfoot pattern! Wonderful gifts from Barrett!

It would be a real treat to meet the pair of you Ron :) Yes, Ironwood, though I would like to see Yew on a Lambsfoot - here's some on a Wright's Sheepsfoot

Today is a Finally Finished Friday for me. When I first started posting on The Porch back in October 2017, I started putting up pics of the Queen knives clad in Winterbottom bone that my late stepfather left with me. Although he passed in 2012, it wasn't until 2017 that I assembled all the boxes/cases and started cataloging the knives. I'm still at it, albeit slowly. Well, today I finally made it though the Winterbottom Queens. I think that I have posted at least one of the models/patterns that I have (as well as some smooth bones and synthetics). Fittingly the first one that I posted was a Queen #31 congress (a favorite and of which I have 6). Today's post includes a #31 (from 1958-1960) and a Queen #9 stockman (from 1961-1971) (of which I have 1).

I appreciate the patience and politeness of the Porch population as I labored along, and I benefited from many helpful comments and suggestions as I learned more about what I had in hand (e.g., my recent Delrin snafu). Now, on to the Cases?

What a great way to honor your stepfather !

What a great way to honor your stepfather !

Thanks, Steve. I am constantly humbled by what he did, as he never "went online" and never saw ebay. He would have loved to be on The Porch, though, and would have worn y'all out with his questions and comments. He'd be haggling for the sweet #67 before you knew what hit you. (He was a scratch golfer and a fine poker player who also liked to bet on his golf game. He played several times with Sam Snead who told me that his mantra to my stepfather was: "I'll hit 'em, Doc; and you bet 'em.")

Great post and beautiful knives. Surely, just one of those knives means more to you than all of my knives put together
