What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Don’t carry this one often because of its size but I slipped it in my pocket today. Bought it about 20-25 years ago at an outdoor shop because of the Mauser marking.

Glad for you having bought one back then. Have you seen the prices lately?
Cool and useful knife.
Today is a Finally Finished Friday for me. When I first started posting on The Porch back in October 2017, I started putting up pics of the Queen knives clad in Winterbottom bone that my late stepfather left with me. Although he passed in 2012, it wasn't until 2017 that I assembled all the boxes/cases and started cataloging the knives. I'm still at it, albeit slowly. Well, today I finally made it though the Winterbottom Queens. I think that I have posted at least one of the models/patterns that I have (as well as some smooth bones and synthetics). Fittingly the first one that I posted was a Queen #31 congress (a favorite and of which I have 6). Today's post includes a #31 (from 1958-1960) and a Queen #9 stockman (from 1961-1971) (of which I have 1).

I appreciate the patience and politeness of the Porch population as I labored along, and I benefited from many helpful comments and suggestions as I learned more about what I had in hand (e.g., my recent Delrin snafu). Now, on to the Cases?

Love the sheepsfoot on the top one!
Thanks for allowing us to unpackage this stunning collection with you.

Very nice :) I bought mine in 1982, carried it 10 years straight. It still sees regular hiking duty

I use to have one similar, less the clip point, and it was stamped with "NATO".
Lost it on the way back from the Gulf War.

You can't beat the basics.
 Agreed! :D

It is a good motto to go by, Ron. You and @Gevonovich are totin' some nice ones today.

- Stuart
Thanks buddy! :)

It would be a real treat to meet the pair of you Ron :) Yes, Ironwood, though I would like to see Yew on a Lambsfoot - here's some on a Wright's Sheepsfoot

A Classic Ron :)
Maybe someday Jack! The Ironwood is definitely a more attractive choice. I really love my bigun in Ironwood! On the subject of the yellow Delrin CV SBJ, it is a knife that is fully capable for a single blade folder at a price that is extremely competitive!

Half/Stop Half/Stop and @Gevonovich Nice ones guys!

Back to this one again after going only a day without it.
Thanks for the compliment Nick! :)

Beautiful Queens Stuart! That 31 with the Clip and Sheepfoot looks very familiar! ;) I have got to get caught up on my photos and stories! :D

Hey! It's Friday evening, and I'm commenting on Wednesday's posts, so I guess I'm TWO days late and TWO dollars short!:thumbsup:

...
Thanks GT, I think you'd love that book! :p :D
...
Great knives to carry for your birthday Gary, hope you have a wonderful day :)
You recommend the book that highly? Maybe you should post a pic of an excerpt! :p:thumbsup:
Thanks again for the birthday wishes, Jack. :) I try to take "the long view", and not worry so much about the quality of individual days, but shoot for an entire YEAR being wonderful overall, all things considered. ;):cool:

Wooden Wednesday notwithstanding, I have a doctor's appointment today so I'm totin' this Ulster. (My doctor is a duck hunter. so the presence of knives calms him, rather than concerns him.)

"No pill's gonna cure my ill", but that knife is just what the doctor ordered, Stuart!:thumbsup::thumbsup: (and it gives me an excuse to link to this video:
)

...
Thank you, GT. I got them around the end of August, so somewhat recent.
Thanks for the info, r8shell. My memory being what it is these days, anything I haven't seen for a week seems brand new to me! It's actually kind of a blessing!

Thanks Gary! I’ve only been caring it for a week but I guess it can be considered a long-term EDC around here, LOL! To answer your question, I’m sure you already know I love single spring knives with blades on each end like this Camillus half congress. Most single spring two bladers or at least on most of them that I own, have a spear or pen main blade and a little secondary pen which are very similar blades IMO. This knife has a sheepsfoot/coping main and a little secondary pen which I prefer. Rat tailed bolsters with nice bone, Rodgers I’m guessing?, and at 3.5 closed, makes it a perfect EDC. I love your Zamorano and the black Case canoe you’ve been toting!
...
Thanks for the convincing rationale, Nick.:thumbsup::thumbsup: And thanks for the kind words. :)

...
Thanks GT! I don’t think anyone would like that lol, however I am taking some pizza crust-making lessons from our friend Jeff Amir Fleschwund Amir Fleschwund which look promising to improve my results :). The white on the Marlin Spike pops, nice photo

These two for Wednesday.

Today's Wooden Wednesday knives are a Case XX USA era Walnut Sheepfoot and a Case Curly Maple teardrop.

Good luck with the pizza crust. Thanks for the marlin spike props. :)
Tom & Dean, your double woods are double good for Wednesday!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That knife's a champ, Ken, and another of your innovative pics!:cool::thumbsup: You seem to have SO many Christmas "knick knacks"; just how big is your storage area for Christmas decorations?? ;)

Today, a jump from the mailbox into my pocket, the new purchase, this beautiful English Knife (pattern type 15) by Joseph Rodgers of Sheffield in rosewood...;)

Ravishing rosewood Rodgers, Senhor Pinto!!:cool::thumbsup:

...
No trick photography, it actually is floating on 4 inches of water:D
How do you THINK of these things, David?!?:cool::cool::thumbsup:

...Thanks, GT and all is well for now. Yes, the pearl stockman is an Edge (Solingen). Your Zamorano is a real looker (and looks like a fine slicer). Happy Birthday. You don't appear to have aged a bit since last year (neither have I).
...
- Stuart
Thanks for saying nice things, Stuart. :) I don't APPEAR to have aged because all the wear and tear has occurred "under the hood" this past year! ;)

...
Good golly, Gary! That is a gorgeous threesome!
...
It's always a treat to see that Marlin Spike.:thumbsup:
...
Thanks for your consistent encouragement, Dean! :)

Dee, that pair is like butter beer to Harry Potter!! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

...
I am off over to Sheffield tomorrow, where I will be spending the day with Barrett @btb01 :) :) Really looking forward to it :) I'll have these two in my pocket, the #25 being a gift from Barrett last Christmas :)

My "free choice" carries for this week are a Rough Rider amber jigged bone peanut (can't believe that I took so long to get a RR peanut )
peanut.pile.closed.jpg
and a set of 3 Cannon sailor knives (according to the maker, drop point, modified tanto, and sheepsfoot, respectively :eek:)

I've seen that set for sale, and have been tempted. I'll be interested to hear what you think of them. They're stainless, right?

Right, it's 2 a.m. here and time for what the British in the 'old days' (before SM :D) used to call "getting some kip" The 20 hours darkness here messes up my sleeping clock every year but it starts to get 45 secs lighter tomorrow :D

So for Saturday it's an early '08 GEC linerlock in Bonestag. Bit bigger than general carry but it goes well in the winter coat, a heavy one needed as the thermometer shows -14c at the moment and falling....
