I ordered myself a Christy companion for my birthday and it arrived yesterday
It's definitely better to get such things a day early, who wants to get them on your birthday when it's half over by the time you do :D

They're a real cool little knife , probably not for everyone but boy does it cut like a lazer.

PS: sorry for the bad picture, but todays just one of those stormy days where you can't get a good picture to save your life.

Fine contrast of Ancient & Modern:cool:

Just two criticisms of the GEC ;) I. It isn't in my possession II. In a way, pity it isn't Barehead as the bone&jigging are up to the cosmos:D

Regards, Will

Thank you Will and I agree, barehead would be real nice on the young’un or a butt tip bolster like the oldie.

That's a special knife. Love it!!!

Like @T.Erdelyi above, I'd also like to report a Random Act of Knife Gifting.

Just before Christmas, out of the blue, I get a PM from @r redden asking for my mailing address and telling me he wants to send me something. This was a big--but pleasant!--surprise.

Yesterday evening I checked my mailbox, and found a small box from Randy. Opening it, I discovered three knives.

The first one I unwrapped was a small Winchester knife:

This is a neat little tool that fits in a watch pocket, and can supplement larger knives.

The second was a Buck:

This is a cool little lockback, reminiscent of a small lockback knife I EDC'd for years. Cool looking camo handle, too.

The last one I opened was a GEC 15[!!!]:

This one REALLY blows me away! What a fantastic gift! I had not yet acquired a GEC slipjoint, but was looking forward to, having seen so many beautiful specimens on the Traditional Forum. What a perfect knife, from blade size, shape, and material (1095), to handle shape and material (ebony!). If I were trying to narrow down my choices for a first GEC folder, this might well have been the one I would have chosen.

2019 is not a week old, and I already have three new knives!

Anyway, just wanted to acknowledge Randy's kindness and generosity here.

Thanks again, Randy, and may 2019 be a great year for you! God bless you.

Nice gifts Vince, and well done Randy.

That was a great picture, made me smile.

Sweet stag stockman, @Jak3! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

In addition to my oft-toted lambsfoot, today I am toting this Victorinox Tinker:

(No, it's not too early!)
Love the baseball Tinker, Vince! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: How's that book? I have The Armchair Book of Baseball II edited by Thorn, a compilation of short works. One of my favorite baseball books is Thorn and Palmer's The Hidden Game of Baseball, one of the seminal works on sabermetrics (today they say "analytics") back in the early 1980s, along with Bill James' stuff. ;)

One of my all-time favorite knives.
But I don't carry it very often because I know I'll never be able to replace it.

That's one to cherish, John! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: (My comment is based on your photo, as well as a later post in which you explained many reasons you'd hate to lose this one.)

I feel like bustin' some sod today...

I wonder how the current "Brown Mules" from Robt. Klaas compare to old Kissing Crane models like yours? Cool sodbuster, Kevin! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thank you, GT! I believe that you understand how much the thought adds to the joy. ;):thumbsup:
Yeah, getting my daughter's support and encouragement with my knife interest is icing on the cake! :cool::thumbsup::cool::)

Did you ever notice how much your pruner (and especially pruners with an ettrick-style handle) resembles an integral sign in calculus?? ;):thumbsup::cool:

That's a handsome knife, @Filoso! :thumbsup::cool::cool: Can you please give some details about it?

... I've since given 6 of them away, ...
Thanks, John; I appreciate that Carhartt version! :):cool::thumbsup:

That's a desirable knife right there!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

... I went outside to get a good picture of the knife only to find that we'd just had a cold drizzle and my intended photo prop, an upstanding ash log, was wet. Off came my shirt to protect the knife. Now, I was freezing and my hands were like butterfly wings holding the cell phone/camera. So much for photographic genius.

Despite the challenges, still a fine photo, Stuart! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Glad the blade reflects tree limbs instead of your shirtless torso! :eek:

I carried these two on the trail today.

Couple of innovative and intriguing models from old-time companies, Dean! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

What time is it? Why, it’s Stag’O’Clock!:);)

Carrying the Outlaw.

Inspiring pics, Ken! :cool::cool::thumbsup: I want to see if I can rig up an old clock as a way to display a dozen knives each week.

I should just write an automated program to compliment your daily choice of knife. You never ever miss the mark. Beautiful Remington.
+5K ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

These two for me today, hope everyone is having a fine weekend.

That black Beer Scout with the fob is one of my favorites among your knives, Tom! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Oh I did.:D
And I finally listened to my partner to quit holding back like I was afraid to make a mistake, and just play like I do when I don’t care about screw ups. Went much better then.:rolleyes:
...
Life is funny that way. ;):thumbsup::cool:

Carrying these two on a wet and windy day. Happy Saturday to you all. Hope your enjoying your weekend.

That's a handsome pair, Taylor! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

You are most welcome, my friend. I think it may be the longest post I have ever made. :rolleyes::D
I had spotted a sunny spot up ahead and in preparation for a photo I had taken the two knives out of my pocket, both were in slips. When I got to the sunny spot I realized that the slip I had the 35 in was upside down and empty. :eek: I had returned it to the slip after the fence post photo but I just wasn't paying attention when I fished them out of my pocket for that next photo.

The flu caught up to me and laid me low for the last few days. So this has been the only knife pic I could manage.

Thanks for the details on the Drover Incident, FBC. :thumbsup::) Wasn't as helpful as I thought it might be because something like carrying a slip upside down could NEVER happen to ME! :rolleyes::( I hope your flu runs its course in record time! ;)

5K Qs 5K Qs Gary, the spear main on the humpback makes the knife a standout. Plus, look at that swedge. The w&t and f&f on this one is second to none. My only nitpick is Case's tendency to only jig the central section of the cover.
Alan, all the points you make are good and indisputable! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

And in Latin America too, I think.
Thanks for the compliment. :)
I was used to seeing Santa on house roofs and climbing on chimneys around Christmas in US, but was amazed in Spain by all of the buildings with kings climbing up the outside walls and creeping over balcony railings! ;) Are you familiar with the Kings' Day cakes with the prize inside that earns its finder a crown?

You guys just got started . You do know that you get no more Vacations . You just take trips now . But it just gets better with time .

Harry
