What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

My carry today was inspired by a post this morning. I'll have to edit in the members name but I'll thank him now.

Ahh, it is Jeff's fault! Ya know what they say, imitation is the greatest form of flattery. :D

Thanks, man.
As long as it’s not for something illegal, imoral, or fattening, I am most gratified to be named as an inspiration!
Looks like a KABAR. WWII era?

I’ll stick with the cocobolo TL29 as I throback to all Schrade today. Well, SW and Schrade. This 33OT throws back to the mid ‘70s, when it was one of my collection of two.

Today I am carrying this wonderful gift from our resident Finnish "knife boy" Kevin. An unusually marked knife, maybe a predecessor of the Charlie Dorton Bulldog brand knives which came on the scene in the late 1970s. Beautiful, translucent stag jigged synthetic (Delrin, celluloid??) covers and a 3.56" closed length are also a departure from the norm. Thanks again, Kevin!

Steady carry & use (7th day ;)) in a row.

Aw kittens are so cute.
Manny wants to know if they can come out to play.View attachment 1051542Del, that’s a verse to live by!

Great resolve in sticking with one knife that long!

For Twofer Tuesday:...
Your ebony Boys' Knife and stag lambsfoot are certainly a notable pair, Vince!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

For Wednesday, think I'll go with a Case & a Buck:

And why not my Case trapper, as well?
31710428118_1ed4e6368a_b.jpg
And you could form THREE notable pairs out of that group, Vince!:cool::thumbsup: You're swinging a hot bat right now, in terms of pocket knife carries! ;)

We had a king cake too. First time I've ever had oreos and cream flavor and, holy crap, it's dangerously good!

...
Thanks for the cake recommendation! :)

The Böker Barlows with the tree stamp on bolster sure are handsome knives!:cool::thumbsup:

This plow has earned a lot of pocket time. Something about it makes it difficult for me to select another to carry lately, not exactly sure what it is, it just works really well for me....
These two for me today.
...
Glad you like your Plow so much, Tom, but in these particular pairs, your Remington scout and the Black Box coffin jack really grab my attention!:thumbsup::cool:

I carried these three today. The Buck in elk is becoming a rather regular carry and the Case mini copperhead is my EDC.
...
Top-shelf trio (including the John Deere teardrop), Dean!:cool::cool:

Indeed it did. ;) Actually, both the lockback and the slipjoint had stickers. (it should be no surprise that I couldn't decide between them, and so ordered both)...
Beguiling brace of blond bullhorn Jokers, Rachel!:thumbsup::cool: Good job of hunting them down, one way or another. ;)

Sounds like me and basketball. I used to watch every single Kings game, either on TV or in person. Then the Maloofs ruined it for me and I haven't watched a single game in years. But maybe my enthusiasm for football will catch on and we can get you to sit through the whole Superbowl. If nothing else you can enjoy the silly commercials....
Good point, John.:) Maybe I should start actively supporting fellow former Purdue Boilermaker Drew Brees and the Saints through the playoffs.

... A fine looking pair of knives, r8shell. Every time I see GT's, I tell myself to go a lookin'. That horn looks superb.

Ah, GT.... You have certainly told me so :D. 'Twas new knife day and I had an assortment but this is the one that stayed in my pocket today....
Dylan, the Jokers are much easier to get now with a US seller.:thumbsup:
Glad you're enjoying the sowbelly. I had no idea what a sowbelly stockman was almost 5 years ago, but one was included in a set of 12 Rough Riders in assorted patterns that I ordered. I intended to carry each knife for a week to see how I liked it, but once I got to the sowbelly, it stayed for 3 or 4 consecutive weeks before I forcibly evicted it from my pocket!:thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

Wooden Wednesday.
r0L4SUP.jpg
Riveting rosewood lambsfoots, @JoeGoblyn & @Dschal!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

...
Thanks GT, your black Pioneer is the most elegant of SAKs :)
...
Thanks for the Pioneer praise, Jack; if there's any elegance ever attached to me, it's via a knife!
Your ironwood lambsfoot and Maserin Plow form an X*L*ent xyloid pair!:thumbsup:;)

I'm totin' these two today. Who wouldn't on Wooden Wednesday; I know that @Jack Black would....
- Stuart
And Stuart's rosewood lambsfoot and Maserin Plow are a titanic timber twosome, too! ;):cool: (I thought it's a little early to see so many Plows out, but "best practice" is probably different now that 50 years ago.)

Today with a Schrade barlow...
Distinctive Barlow, Senhor José!:thumbsup::cool: I like the look of your edges :thumbsup::cool:; how do you like to sharpen your knives? Do I see primary and secondary bevels on these blades?

That looks like a whittler made for giants, Dave - looong and leeean!:thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

A pair of GEC #15s today... I think they compliment each other very well in both looks and blade choice. One is more plain in ebony wood with a nice thin spear blade and nail mark, the other is more fancy in jigged bone with a nice pointy sheepsfoot blade and long pull.
...
Definitely a notable pair, John!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I always sit up and pay attention when one of those sheepsfoot EO Scouts shows up!;):cool:

It’s a bit chunky, but great fun to have.
I made a belt sheath for mine, that also holds a little flashlight.
...
...
I always look forward to seeing your Alox and SAK carries for the week, Gary. :) The Black Pioneer is a gentleman's SAK, of course. The Vic Champion (aka Swiss Champ) is a stupendously useful knife; I use mine around the house frequently. Do you find it a tad heavy to carry at times?
...
Thanks for your comments, Jeff and Dean. :) My Champion is indeed chunky and relatively heavy, but I hang it from a suspension clip on the back edge of my left from pocket (right over the outside seam of the left pantleg), and it's barely noticeable, compared to carrying it loose in the bottom of a pocket. Not sure I understand the physics of that perception, unless somehow hanging the knife distributes its weight more widely. The same would be true of Jeff's belt sheath, I guess.

When you are waffling on which knife you want to wield on Wednesday, stop wondering.
Wood would be winning.
Wildly.View attachment 1050972
We Were Wondering When Wood Would Win :D
...
Well, you had fine company and worthy cutlery for a fine day, Jeff. Your Wednesday word play was wonderful, as are the wooden workers so well displayed on that wondrous herringbone wool.
...
- Stuart
Alliteration Alert - Code Red - W :eek::eek::eek:!!! Very impressive, Jeff & John & Stuart! :thumbsup::thumbsup::D

Your bird's eye pivots stockman is a gem, Gev!:cool::thumbsup:

...I suppose I should prune that rosemary, but it's such a good background for photos. ;)
OxZMHdn.jpg
When I was a lad, there was a song in Sunday School titled "Heavenly Sunshine"; I think you have some captured right inside the horn handle of your pruner, Rachel!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I'm inside away from the cold today with my faux stag teardrop....
Dean, your stag bone 2-blade teardop is a sublime knife!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

...
I had this'n today
...
Carrying this one today :...
...
Harry
I REALLY like the stag on your Solingen knives, including that EDGEMARK and Hartkopf, FBC and Harry!:cool::thumbsup: (Harry, those are outstanding trip (I almost typed "vacation", but I'm learning ;)) photos, too!)

Came much later, my guess is the late-1990's. I think they came around the time of the transition of standing dog to two dog head - as they also used the handle material on some of the latter. The handles were relatively unstable, but yours looks to be in great shape.

My only complaint about this Camillus was that the color of the mark side cover was a bit lighter than the pile side cover. I tried using potassium permanganate on the front cover, but it had surprisingly little effect on the bone. I blame this on the bone probably coming into contact with oil. Then I got smart and used a combination of black and red Sharpie pens. They worked perfectly to darken up the bone.

I'm going Sow today
Beautiful knives Gev, especially the sow.

Everytime I see your Pinched Peanut I have to put mine in my pocket, Dwight! Great knives posted!
Thank you Gary. Best part, I picked it up at a flea market. Seller hadn't a clue what it was and it was priced accordingly. :D
