What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

My son bought this for me last weekend from a gun show he went to so I had to carry it this week. I had a half dozen Imperial fish knives when I was a boy but I had never had seen a KENT before now so I don't know a whole lot about it except it from around the 70's. I love the fish hook remover notch on the rear bolster, so simple yet very functional. It's going in my tackle box so he can see me use it next season after a good sharpening of course.

Awhile back there was much discussion of Mexican Cokes I think in the lounge, maybe the beverages thread. Anyways stopped at a little store and lo and behold Mexican Pepsi in glass bottles. Only after a mile down the road did I discover its not the newer style twist top. And here I am without any of my caplifter equipped knives:rolleyes:
Then I remembered I have a Vic tinker in my tool bag

Humble little Tink saves the day:p

P.s. the Pepsi WAS better;)

The shot rally started yesterday evening, ten bars have made specials for the occasion and those entering have to vote for the three best. It is a three days event.
We started yesterday after dinner and visited the upper five. Back home late - or early, depends - and I would not have imagined how long some streets may be sometime...
Next round saturday.:)

Look at how thin the frame is, barely thicker'n a 2 bit piece

Look at the secondary blade, as thin as it is someone still had the skill to put a swedge on it. It's so thin it flexes like a fillet knife almost 90* and springs back straight with no ill effect.

The back of the secondary is so thin it almost looks like a sharpened false edge

Kent knives were actually made by Camillus (Kastor) for Woolworth's stores from the early 1930's to mid-1950's ;) Here's one I have...

I paid for a new knife yesterday and got it in the mail today. I've never had such speedy shipping! Probably helps that the seller lives in the next town over (unbeknownst to me).

I got an intriguing new Sowbelly (many thanks to @flatblackcapo for the heads up), a Moore Maker with 3 blades. Curiously, it has two clips (different styles) and a spey. Now, I am not a big spey blade fan but it largely comes down to its aesthetics versus its functionality. What I find rather remarkable is that regardless of which blade you are using, they all sit low enough to not be uncomfortable in hand.

A very comfortable knife with beautifully ground blades and nice thin edges and yes, clad in red bone... This knife has me smitten for sure.

As a multiblade sowbelly, I think I could fall in love with this one; the secondaries both lie close to the handle and I don't think that I'd feel like I was holding on to a handful of blades. I like it a lot and the color is great.

That smooth ivory bone is my favorite GEC handle material followed closely by the blood red bone...

That's a true beauty. Perfect blade setup too, clip behind pen.

What's perfect for one, may not be perfect for everybody. That's a fine knife even if the pen is in front of the main. I know I'm the odd man out with that opinion, I admit that and I'm okay with it. Love the smooth ivory bone.

Ever since photobucket started charging, I can’t find a site/app that will load pictures the same. I just get links from Flickr or imgur. But can’t seem to ever get just the photo up

As a paid member, you should be able to post pictures straight to the forum. I find that I have to reduce the quality a little. If you get the message that the photo is too large, mess around with the size and/or quality until it works.

Just to add, if the photo is around 500 kb, I have no problems. Save it somewhere, then select upload file to post it.

Got the following instructions from @flatblackcapo several months ago, and it works for me:

"I don't use my phone for much more than a phone and taking pics so posting from a pc is easier for me. This is my method, using the Firefox browser.
Find the pic wanted on Flickr in the photostream, click on that
it takes you to the page with just that pic. In the lower right hand corner there is a arrow with a line under it, click that and choose " View all sizes"
Choose the size you want to post and right click on the pic, select "view image info"
A window will pop up and the text needed should already be highlighted.
right click that highlighted line and copy.
Go back to the forum and click on the little mountain in the square next to the smiley face.
Paste the text into the pop up window and click insert.
You should see your pic in your post now. If you don't see it, something went wrong.
I hope I explained it so it is understandable. Writing is not my forte.
hit me up if you have any questions."

An alternative way is to post from my phone, but I have to reduce the size of the file. I e-mail myself a photo and choose the medium size (I think the pic has to be under 4 mb). Then I save the e-mailed photo in my pictures and upload from there. The pics are not as clear as the one I post from Flickr, though.

Hope this helps.

Edit: not sure if mb or kb--not good with stupid metric system. But I know a pint when I see one!
