What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Changing up one Case Medium Stockman for another, leaving the 3318 at home, giving the 6332 some pocket time. OH

I wish I aged as well as this guy.View attachment 1098654

That is absolutely breathtaking. Aged like a fine wine.

I pulled out something special from the archives today. In addition to the usual Camillus and Case mini-trapper, I have a second Case mini-trapper, this time in stag with a single wharncliffe blade. It's from the Case Rancher series with CV blade. My father-in-law purchased it back in 2013 for whittling at camp, but never got around to actually using it. So it's kind of hung out in my collection for the last few years since his passing. The stag is really quite nice, and I imagine the size will make for a very nice whittling knife. I'm not normally a fan of blade etches, but this one is pretty tastefully done. It looks like the 'Case XX' logo is laser etched into the stag, which looks really sharp, IMHO.

Very nice Rancher. Those are pretty hard to find these days and your memories make it even more valuable.

Congrats, Tom S., how does it compare to the one you bought at the show? It looks awesome in the white with the black pins.

I switched to the Schrade Walden 881 today.

Thanks Jeff! It is very similar, I made a few suggestions about the sheath that Evan incorporated (he is great to work with). The steel is Nitro V, which is stainless so looking forward to seeing how that performs. The handle scales are a little thinner, but still offer a great grip. So far I am really happy with it.

Fantastic Schrade

I've been out of action since Sunday and gotten way behind on this thread. I had a minor outpatient procedure (think "frontal colonoscopy" with a camera and laser) yesterday to remove a 12 mm (think .47 cal. bullet) kidney stone (first and, hopefully, last). Today, I'm in pain management, so am a bit dopier than usual. I'll try to catch up on some complimentary comments on the recent fine postings soon. Today, this is about all I am totin' around the house: a Belknap Hardware barlow from 1968-1985.
