What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Whatcha up to, with the leather? Looks promising. :-)

I'm making some pocket strops. The leather is from a bunch of samples I found for cheap. They're just the right size, and all come with a single hole already punched! I plan to give the strops away, with some polishing compound, at this year's WNY Bladeforums gathering. Thanks for asking!

here she is making her first cut..

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who uses such a fancy, hi-tech cutter for his cigars.:D I use a #8 Opinel (sharpened to an unreasonably loooooong angle for mine).

Today I was painting (varnishing) my carport. I used my Case Yellow Stockman (because it´s stockman-month) and a Robert Klaas with ebony handles (that thing feels like a tank).

Mumbo, I've got one of those Beaver Tail Mini Lockback Hunters on the way. I got an email telling me it shipped this morning. Seeing this picture makes me look forward to receiving it even more. Great looking knife.

I have many knives, expensive knives, but the 72 won out. It is a great slicer. It doesn't have a thumb stub or spydie hole or fancy Ti. Just a great all around knife that is slick and slim.

I use a 120 year old half congress, it insanely thin and makes good taking the end off a cigar.

these 2 for me, no modern folders today.

Received my first #73 in a trade the other day and it's riding along with me today.

Just in time too, me and Mumbo are building a dam :)

You're correct johnny that was a typo. I've got a 72 in red elk, this is my first 73. I like the bone on your 72

Pinched Peanut went to work with me today, now that I'm home I'm carrying a Case damascus Peanut, a stag handled CSC Cannitler, and another folder clipped to my left pocket (Lone Wolf).

Not sure how you could bear to leave that sweet lil' conductor behind...? Look, it's so small-- it'll easily slip into your pocket, too!

(I love the pictures of your knives, and this one is no exception.)

Thanks P. It is small but that would have been the 4th knife in my pocket (I also carry a Vic Manager on my keys). I typically use the master and pen blades on the #33 and #48 for the same things. I didn't stray too far away from home so the #48 gave me just a little more reach. I am carrying the #33 today though.

These today:

Trand, that makes good sense, although I trust you know I was mostly just gently teasing. I'm drawn to smaller knives, and that Conductor is especially sweet. Unfathomable to me, that out of the three knives in that particular picture, that was the one you left behind! :) I'm glad it's with you today.

Reading your explanation, I'm regretting again not saving a post from General (I think?), in which people were explaining their carrying habits and how they manage their knife collections. One member posted that he found the best guideline for him personally was to not own more knives than he could carry in his pockets on a given day.

The punch line being something along the lines of, "I'm up to 162 and it's getting harder to move, but I think I can still fit one or two more."

Yay for stockman month.

My Father's Day gift was a bit delayed, but it got here today. Found an outfit to sell me a 6347 Case 3 7/8" stockman in yellow Delrin with CV blades. I'm partial to that size stockman.

Got home too late tonight to take outdoor pics. But it looks about like this:

I have the SBJ again, and it will continue on to tomorrow (or today...jeez, I lost track of the time!) as well.

I wish I could participate in stockman month, but I am yet to own one; I am debating on pressing the buy button on an Amber Bone stockman with a punch. I love stockmans, from seeing and handling them, and they may just be my favorite pattern. The reason I have been holding out is because I am hoping to score one at antique shops/garage sales/etc. There is just something about obtaining a piece with history in it that gives me that humbling feeling :)

I agree completely. My favorite stockman is this small Craftsman which I got from a member here. I love a knife that shows it has been put to use over the years.

And, it is in my pocket again today as stockman month winds down.
