What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Pertinux, could that be one of those #25 Barlows from GEC?!

Close! I, uhm, did vote for "Barlow" for July's Traditional of the Month. Tuneless hum.

Now that's a tease...

Ain't it just.

Hmm..... Appaloosa Bone?

Why, yes it is-- Appaloosa 2-blade Jack. :)

I still have my sights on an ebony Barlow, which also just suddenly exploded into my consciousness. With this one, I was drawn to the wharncliffe and the swoop of the secondary pen, but the sudden clincher was viewing its model number.

My birthdate is Feb. 9 (02/09). The angels sang, the devils said, "Do it!" and here we are.

The pen blade is problematic (ve-ry stiff). I've washed the knife out well, added a touch of oil, and-- when not taking pictures-- keep a strip of painter's tape on the pen blade so I can easily open it, again and again, in hopes it starts to loosen even a bit.

Oh, and the blade etch has to go, and will disappear soon. I would have wanted it off even if it weren't slightly crooked. Ouch, especially against the straight edge of the wharncliffe.

Love this little knockaround, though.

Grand combination that Wharncliffe & Pen. Bone is really attractive too.

My thumbnail is stronger than yours....send that 25 over for testing :D:D

All the best, Will

Pert, it sure looks to me like the secondary blade is a clip, not a pen, but I LUUUVE the appaloosa bone!

Oh. Well, that would 'splain the swoop then, wouldn't it.

Whatever it is, I think it looks great, and seeing it was another factor that pushed me over the edge on this knife. I haven't had a chance to cut anything with it yet. I've mostly been trying not to cut anything with it, such as "fingers," while working on its stiffness.

The appaloosa bone is fine indeed. As is almost always the case, it looks way better in person than in pictures. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but I really do. From what I can see, there can be quite a bit of variation among scales as far as how much color there is. I was fortunate to find a seller who, when I asked if the knife pictured would be the one I received, sent me pictures of what was in stock and asked me to choose. :)

Lately I've been carrying my new (to me) Schrade 44OT Workmate. The short hawkbill knife makes an awesome box cutter.

It was a lazy day today. My wife was at work. So I went to my backyard where a little stream is whispering. I practiced some BluesHarp and played an instrument we in Germany call "Maultrommel" I don´t know it´s name in english, but it sounds funny :)

Buck 303 and GEC #73 followed me there

... and my old strewhat ;)

Too funny Andi, i was playing mine today for my daughter, we call it a Jaw harp I've also heard it called a mouth harp. Is that a marine band harp or special 20?

Hi Pete!

Thank you for the new word(s). The harp is a Big River Harp in C. I need to get one in G. ;) Tried some cross harp today and also some tongue blocking (suddenly straigh harp was boring) ... I hope, I scared the muskrats by the stream til death, so that they won´t longer do their digging ;)

Thanks Andi, I have not tried that model of Hohner, the plates look like marine band and the comb (body) looks like a special 20.

My #73 is with me again today as well Andi. I'm fortunate in that I work close enough to where I live to be able to run home for a quick lunch break each day. This is how it's usually spent :)

Stockman month is almost gone, and I don't think I have put this Böker USA Tree Brand Stockman in my pocket at all this month. So, it is with me today, and maybe for the last three days of June.

I do prefer the smaller size of the Craftsman and the Case, but you know, equal time and all that.
