What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

When will this madness stop.
It's ether heat exhaustion induced by hot weather or from hearing the constant beat of drums from the Peanut Cult encampment in the distance.
I broke down and ordered a yellow Case peanut in CV.
Dang, their mind control tactics. :D
When will this madness stop. :D

Ah, well now that Stockman month is over, I can fire up the second part of my Father's Day gift, a Case CV Sowbelly. I've never used a Sowbelly before, so this is a new one on me. I'll have to carry it a spell and see what I think about it.

After one month of stockman carry, which was a case medium yeller in CV, i couldn't help but carry a buck 301 today, even though i was thinking to go back to my CV peanut. After one day, i felt it was a bit overkill for my uses, that today were breaking down a few cardboard boxes at work.
It is much bigger than the peanut, of course, and a bolster more than the yeller Case. I like it a lot, but i'm kinda leaning to keep the 301 for more outdoor stuff, and stick the 303 in the mix for regular carry.
But I'll give it another go tomorrow anyway.

Sorry for the flash photos...

Frank, that sowbelly looks very good, know if is the sheepsfoot is the same as those found on a 75 pattern stockman ? If so, i might be looking for one of those curved stockmen...they seem smaller, and i'm starting to think i prefer well under 4 inch knives.

The Sowbelly doesn't carry small. Definitely need jeans for it. The 3 7/8" Case 6347 stockman I've been carrying feels smaller in the pocket. The Sowbelly blades aren't any longer, but they are wider.

Thanks for the info, it's just that i always liked wide short blades, like the sheepsfoot on the 75, and the one you pictured above. Would really like a small one with that blade part of it.

Here's an oldie but a real goody, Schrade-Walden 233 Jack. Really nice patina and very sharp. Love the size: 3.25 closed

That's a fine old schooler you show there U_F Nice size too, well done!

Today Queen Cutlery QCCC Teardrop. A bit big but a good in the hand knife.

Thanks, Will

I had to rescue this one from my kitty that was using it as a "kitty toy" and have carried it a couple days now:

Frank,

Is it just the lighting or does that spey blade have a ferocious swedge?

Now that you mention it, it is a swedge. It's on the side of the blade that faces away from me when I use it, so I hadn't noticed.

Thanks for that update Frank. I have often been intrigued by the sowbelly, but that tells me all I need to know, since I prefer smaller "disappear in the pocket" style knives.

That is just gorgeous! This or the red bone Case Texas jack are exactly what I would like to have next. Thanks for sharing it with us.
