What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Going with the stag #85 EO all week. The scales are somewhat uneven in color and texture (I knew this before purchasing it) but I did get it for a two-digit price new in the tube, so I'm well pleased. The pull and feel are the best I've gotten from GEC--it's like greased glass, with crisp snap and half-stop, right at a 5 on the pull scale. I was really happy with the feel and construction--the blade is even perfectly centered in the trough, which is something I don't really care about on slipjoints to begin with. Unfortunately (as usual) the edge was less than stellar, but it gave me a chance to practice setting a new freehand bevel with an oiled Norton stone. Now it's up to snuff and a great, very light and slim EDC.

Can't get enough of these beaver tail knives. Great picture. The brazilian cherry scales are absolutely stunning.

I always like to see a patina on a knife, but there's something about a patina on a wood scaled knife that just knocks me over.

Nice choice. I really like the way those knives look. Is yours the single blade? Fortunately, the price keeps my temptation level manageable.

Yeah, the single fat spear blade. I rarely spring for the stag GEC knives, but I sold a custom fixed blade to afford this one. There's always something more to want on the horizon but as long as I keep my net investment in knives relatively level, I treat myself now and again :D

Love the look of that Case jack knife! Is that pattern 4" closed? My 6232 is 3.5625" closed.

Yours looks a lot like the pile side scale of mine.

That's a nice looking knife. I've never owned an Amber bone, as I've never like the way it looks in the stock photos, but your pic has changed my mind. It looks like it has mellowed a bit, and it looks great against that patina.

That's right, amber bone is one of the greatest looking with patinated steel.
Someone here own a canoe with that combination, I feel in love with that one.

That's a nice looking knife . . . it looks great against that patina.

Agree 100%! It is pictures like this that have made me want one of these. Just an outstanding photograph!

The closest I have come to it is this 1978 6232 jack I picked up here last week.
