What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Yep, my hand is definitely better suited to the peanut than yours.

I have my SBJ again, It is the smallest slippy I own, and I Have been on a minimalistic kick lately. I still haven't gotten the blades to loosen up on that Ebony Teardrop Jack I posted yesterday so in the watch pocket she goes.

Yeah I took out my Peanut and laid it on my hand when I saw this picture....

Funny, I did the same thing!

Sitflyer, I'm way impressed. I'd also venture the Peanut may remain on the too sma' side for you. Little bit.

Have someone with average-sized hands hold a Peanut (or take a picture of the same), note its size relative to said hand(s), and pick the knife that best fits those proportions on your hand as your "small knife."

Then post pictures. :-)

Oh dear, the above sounds awfully close to homework.

Short version: I think by now you've found what works, and what doesn't, and from now on I'll believe you! ;)

What it is sad is the fact that, on my hand, the end of a peanut would probably make it to the end of my palm...I hate my genes :p
I it seems that the Peanut may not be as small as I thought (for me anyway). Hmmm...a buddy of mine asked me about a pocket knife he found and it was a peanut about 2" closed; I assumed that the Case was no larger. I kinda wish the Case 'Nut was smaller if that is the Case. (<---Get it? Huh? 'If that's the Case' ?!.....I'll go sit down now...)

Very nice patina, by the way, it looks like your little companion has been serving you well!

I believe a Peanut would still serve you well; its serpentine shape combined with the two-spring thickness makes for a very hold-able smaller knife. If nothing else, maybe it could serve as your "medium jack"...?

In the meantime, you may be interested in the comparison between a Peanut and a Tiny Trapper (both Case knives) here.

A teaser picture:

A Tiny Trapper is small indeed, but fine in its own right and worth consideration if you're looking for a smaller knife. (I love mine.)

The Case Sway Back Jack is MY Peanut ;) :D :)

Well since I happen to have a Peanut in my pocket this evening.
Not a Case, but the same size

Thanks for the kind words. It is indeed serving me well. The Case peanut is 2.875" closed.

Duly noted, I appreciate the info.
Once my leg heals up and I can start looking for work again, I may spring on a peanut.
I really like the black G-10 peanut that Case is offering; the metaphorical blending of modernized materials with the classic design has my heart pumping.
It would be wise to pick up a RR or any other relatively inexpensive Peanut first, but there is nothing that jumps out at me like Case so far..curse my materialistic heart.

Heh, it seems we have almost exactly the same hand size.
Edit- I just noticed that your pic is darn near life size (by comparison with my 'Nut) and we do have exactly the same hand size. Creepy.
Right now it's a TL-29 and a Svord Peasant, but my nut will probably be back in my pocket tomorrow.

Fits fine

I did that. Was not at all impressed with the RR peanut. No half stop, stainless blade, blade opens too far. I think the Case peanut is far superior..

Anyone else ever think about getting rid of a knife that you don't carry much, only to fall back in love with it when you take it out and handle it?

Guess it turned out good for both of us that I decided to take the 6207 only. I honestly went back and forth on that decision, and even after I made it wondered if I should have sprung for both Cases. Glad to hear you are enjoying it!

Yeah, thanks, lol. I was pulling it out to take a couple more pics last night, and it just kinda hit me..... why am I not carrying this? So I threw a little oil in the joints, got her back to shaving sharp and dropped her in my pocket. Funny how things work out. ;)
