What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

My Watchpocket Knife this week is an LF&C pen knife with celluloid covers (thanks, Mark):

Big Knife this week isn't really very big, but it is kind of long. It's a Rough Rider smooth tobacco bone improved muskrat:

Miscellaneous Knife this week is this Schrade whittler (thanks, TsarBomba):

Nice Whittler !

My two totes for today will be a couple of German stag covered cutters; a Puma hunter from the early 80s and a Bulldog Brand large 5 bladed stockman from the 90s.:)

Lovely Stag !

These two for me today.
...
That blue Farmer is brilliant, Tom!

Only one knife today, my Case Wharncliffe Mini Trapper with an "Army" shield.
...
Salutary service knife, Dean!

Your comprehensive chart of contrasts is cool!! How about a list of similarities now??

...
Off out early in the morning, but I'll have these two with me, both gifts from good friends :)
...
Jack, your jigged bone WCLF and the ebony GEC gunstock jack are championship-caliber!

Carried the osage orange today.

The knife, not the fruit.
:p:D Cool photo of a superb knife and a weird fruit!

...
5K Qs 5K Qs - Love that faux tortoise canoe.
Thanks, Harvey.

...
Those two are terrific, GT. Regardless of your rotation, you are totin' something special with admirable regularity. (Conundrum?)
...
- Stuart
Thanks for the validation, Stuart. (And life is full of strange paradoxes: "This page intentionally left blank", "I can't stand intolerance", etc. ;))

My Thursday totes are a couple of jacks from GEC; a 54 harness jack and a 78 American jack.:)
Beautiful brace of GECs, JJ! At first, I thought that 54 had fluted bolsters! IMHO, that 78 is the best version, with the checkered bone and the spear/pen combo.

Good morning!
Today is a great day for me, finally the knife that I offered to myself as a birthday present has arrived, although quite late (the birthday was on September 18th !!), it was worth all the waiting time, because in my modest opinion is a handsome example of a Lambsfoot Barlow this knife made by artisan Michael May.;):D:thumbsup:
...

...
Belated Happy Birthday, José, and congratulations on the stately custom Barlow!!!

...
Cool bunch GT :)
...
Thanks, Jack.

View attachment 1206713 Heavily into a bathroom re-model, which suits me fine because our wet-chilly weather continues. Autumn! Go figure.
If I need the services if these two Camillus knives, it will likely be these blades that I open:View attachment 1206714
Best wishes for the successful completion of the remodeling project, Jeff! I hope it turns out as well as the jigging job on your Camillus electrician.

Ulster Barlow and a #54 Harness Jack
...
Dynamic duo, Steve; that Ulster Barlow is the bee's knees!

Went with an all red shadow carry today.
...
That Böker shadow stockman seems unusual and cool to me, Jeff!

I’m online and spot this cap. Thank you Barry for making a cool one.

Striking knife and pic, Harvey! Have you used the TEW much? How do you like the 2-blade set-up?

Can't get enough of these new Case barlowsView attachment 1206786
Intriguing "color fade" to the bolster on that one!!

On my hike today, I carried my GEC Black Cherry sawcut bone TC Barlow and Case Damascus teardrop.
...
Comely couple of knives, Dean! Is the TC a 14?
I have to confess that the sun and blue sky really caught my attention in your post. I've been feeling the Folsom Prison blues lately, because "I ain't seen the sunshine since I don't know when!"

Our trees' leaves aren't turning colors yet (except brown from the continuing drought), so I'm totin' these two to encourage them.
...
- Stuart
Catchy colors, Stuart! Are you celebrating Two-Trapper Thursday in addition to Tuesday??

Sweet shadow Schrade stockman, Nick!

Put my "pseudo-Wharncliffe" 108OT in my pocket last Friday for "Old Friends Friday" and now it won't leave. I'd forgotten how much I liked it. Joined today by Victorinox cattle knife with cap lifter.
...
I love (and totally endorse) your description of the Vic electrician!

My two totes for today are a couple of medium bone covered slicers; a GEC 66 Calf Roper and a BB Winchester toothpick.:)
There's no way the blade on that toothpick will fit into that handle!!

Me too, but this one wasn't econo enough. They started out pricing it like a normal knife. If it's going to be gauche in general aspect and have fit and finish that bothers even me, $25 is still too much.
...
But I still love you, Case.
Now I'll have to check my Case Calibers (47 stockman and muskrat) to see if they have similar problems that I didn't even notice.

Good Friday Morning
A "new to me" ebony Churchill today...

I'm going to declare a tie in the Black Friday beauty contest, John and Shawn!!

Classic Buck, Vince! Congrats on the Astros win Friday. They caught a break on the blooper that dropped into short right field, but Verlander was basically unbeatable!

I agree with that comment about Stuart’s red one. Schrade made a jack like that, with a pen instead of the spey secondary - the 294, I think.
Less common than the 293 trapper, I guess, because I don’t see as many.

I have a set of 293 dogleg handles, and am keeping an eye out for springs from a Schrade trapper. I have some blades I bought from a bay seller that came from the big sell off when Schrade went under, and from basket cases I’ve bought for parts. Also have a sheepfoot that came out of a Klein utility jack that I’m thinking would make a nice secondary blade.
I’ve seen some people call the 294 a “farmer’s jack”, but don’t know if that’s actually correct. Either way, I’d like to cobble one together...

Appreciate the comment, Gary!
Thanks for the Schrade trapper info, Jeff, and good luck with your "cobbling" project; I admire a man with a plan! (There are online vendors that still sell Schrade parts, some of them by the pound!)

For Old Friends Friday, I'm totin' some old skeletons from a recently uncovered box in my basement, both 3": an Empire with stainless steel handle (1856-1930) and a Joseph Rogers ("Cutlers to His Majesty") with nickel silver handle (1875-1900).

I think old all metal knives are fascinating, Stuart!

Black Friday...

Desirable dark duo, Dean; that ebony sheepsfoot is irresistible!

Prestigious pair, Dave! Leave it to Beaver! :D

Thanks, Gary. I was listening on the radio on the way to the Texas hill country. Altuve came through with a 2-run homer in the 5th. But their rotation is the best in the majors right now: three aces! Maybe I can catch some of tonight's game when I get back to the hotel.

Going to get some beer at Octoberfest in Fredericksburg today. And sausage and kraut. Listen to some bands. Maybe even do the chicken dance.

Wow! That is a superb Case redbone Barlow!

Salutary service knife, Dean!

Thank you for your many kind comments, Gary! The TC is indeed a 14; you can tell by the thickness of the midpoint on the letter C. As far as the blue sky, I had to take a photo of the gorgeous sky in that park Thursday. I normally only hike there in the winter, so it was surprise for me to see the 'summer' sky there. :)
