What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Handsome horn-handled lambsfoot, Mike! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I hope carrying some Fall colors will bring the cold front and drop us out of the 90s.
...
Persuasive pair, Rachel, but I'm not convinced our carries can influence temperature. ;):thumbsup:

Thanks GT! I'll be hunting pheasant, and likely poorly based on my last trip to the trap range :). I have two more weekends to practice, which is a lot of fun anyway.

Fixed Blade Friday.
...
Thanks for the info, Tom. :) In my youth, I accidentally got lots of pheasants with vehicles, so you should bag some with your gun! ;) Great toes that BSK and lanyard again!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Calf Roper and a Remington UMC
...
Those two knives could be related!:cool::thumbsup:

Wow, that tip-bolstered sleeveboard shadow pen Schrade sure has a lot going for it, Nick!:cool::thumbsup:

Very Nice Whittler, GT.
Nice Whittler !
...
great knives last few days everyone. That Schrade whittler! Wow. Sorry I didn’t pay too much attention to who posted what. Kinda scrolling in a hurry in a few free minutes.

Still this guy. I forget how much I like it.

...
Thanks Gary, I don’t carry that knife enough. I like your Schrade whittler!

Camillus and Robeson.
...
Thanks for the approval of my whittler, John & Steve & @SVTFreak & Nick. :) I wish you could experience how buttery-smooth the bone on that knife feels!
Nick, I could do some sweatin' with those oldies!:thumbsup::cool:
@SVTFreak, that's some pretty distinctive stag on your knife!!:cool::cool:
John, since you've seen lots of marching bands, maybe you'll enjoy this clip of Ohio State's moon landing tribute yesterday. I know nothing about marching band quality, but I thought it was cool!
https://news.osu.edu/video-ohio-state-marching-band-explores-the-space-race-at-halftime/

Lately I'm liking this sort of flat regular jack quite a lot.
...
I can see why!:cool::cool: Does it have a pen secondary? I wouldn't mind finding an old Imperial EO swell-end jack like that some day.

I love that LF&C celluloid pen knife, Gary!:thumbsup: It’s classically beautiful.
Thank you Gary!!! The bolster stamp is known as the Camargue Cross from that beautiful region of southern France; it signifies Faith, Hope. and Charity (Cross-Anchor-Heart) and was designed in 1924.:D
...
Yet another terrific trifecta Gary; your LF&C is certainly quite special with that super swage!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
...
Thanks, Dean & JJ. :) I'm scared of the celluloid, so that knife is stored all alone on the top of a window frame in the living room.
Thanks for the info about that cool cross, JJ. :) I saw anchor, cross, and heart when I looked at it, but wondered if I was reading more into it that was actually there. Gotta remember to google "Camargue Cross"! ;)

My two totes for today will be a couple of German stag covered cutters; a Puma hunter from the early 80s and a Bulldog Brand large 5 bladed stockman from the 90s.:)
...
JJ, that Puma has covers that match the platonic ideal of stag, and Bulldog stockman illustrates the more (blades), the merrier!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, Gary, you're always so kind.
I'd like to thank The Academy... :D
Thanks, GT. Your "Quote and Reply" is always the highlight of my morning.
Thank you very much for your kindness Gary.:)
Thanks, Jeff & John & José; I'm just trying to "give as good as I get". :)
John, you may have more boring mornings than I do!!:p:thumbsup:

Thanks, Gary. I was listening on the radio on the way to the Texas hill country. Altuve came through with a 2-run homer in the 5th. But their rotation is the best in the majors right now: three aces! Maybe I can catch some of tonight's game when I get back to the hotel.

Going to get some beer at Octoberfest in Fredericksburg today. And sausage and kraut. Listen to some bands. Maybe even do the chicken dance.
I hope you enjoyed Oktoberfest, Vince; sounds great (except for the chicken dance)! ;):thumbsup:
Astros played another of their aces last night; congrats! :)

...
Thank you for your many kind comments, Gary! The TC is indeed a 14; you can tell by the thickness of the midpoint on the letter C. As far as the blue sky, I had to take a photo of the gorgeous sky in that park Thursday. I normally only hike there in the winter, so it was surprise for me to see the 'summer' sky there. :)
Today, I'm carrying my Case bonestag teardrop (carrying is a misnomer as I am lounging around the house today).
...
Thanks for the TC bolster stamp info, and I'm glad you could enjoy the good weather. :) That 2-blade bonestag teardrop is a looker!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, GT  seeing the Beaver and I looked similar way back then, my Aunt tagged me as the Beave :p
:thumbsup::D

...
5K Qs 5K Qs - Thank you Gary. Most of the oldies will be carried, but used sparingly. The TEW is no exception. Also, regarding knives, my preference is for single blades. The TEW is comfortable enough, but not ideal. It does feel great in hand, though.
Thanks for your opinions on the 2-blade TEW lambsfoot, Harvey. :)

Last of the autumn leaves. :)

Stunning photos, Dave!! :eek::cool::cool:

Two carried today.

The first, just arrived is a Robeson Jack(peanut) in Strawberry Bone. My amateur sleuthing indicates that it was produced between 1948 and 1959. After 1959, the bone was replaced by delrin.

Congrats on the "redskin peanut", Harvey!:cool::cool: And that lambsfoot (blond horn?) with the pizza is delectable; who made it (knife and/or pizza ;))?

Good weekend for all.
Today with two beauties A. Wright Hartshead Barlow (Rosewood) and M. May barlow (Derbyshire cherry wood).;)
...
José, those are two spectacular Barlows!:thumbsup::cool: The cherry wood is especially attractive!

Thanks! I think others have noticed the similarity, too. Actually, when I bought it, I'd never heard of a cattle knife. I was just looking for a really rugged stockman and this looked pretty close. As it turns out I don't carry it a lot - as a stockman I miss the pen/spey blade and as a SAK I miss the phillips/can opener.
I've called it an Alox punch stockman, but I think cattle knife is more accurate.;)

Not sure how, but I'm afraid this thread has got away from me again o_O So, I hope it's OK if I just rush in, post my carry, and go and hide behind the sofa  Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Your SamDamLamb is outstanding, Jack!:cool::cool:
(Our sofa is in the middle of the room, so no hiding place for me.)

...
I had gourmet bologna and prime steak today ;):D
:cool: If I want to go vegetarian, which knife brand would you recommend, David?? :D

Running late so I’ll say hello and hope y’all are having a great weekend so far! These two have been in the pockets! :)
...
Phenomenal pair of lambsfoots, Ron; Charlie and Jack lead the pack!:thumbsup::cool:

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Trying out a new one today.
...
Stellar stag 29, Dylan! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

...
Thank you Gary; sometimes that window light does some cool things!:thumbsup::cool:

Ha ha thanks!!! I just double checked and the blade is 1/4" longer than my other 4 1/4" toothpicks; thanks for the tip!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
...
:thumbsup::thumbsup::D

For today I thought I'd tote a couple that are similar to my carry in the scouts (Buck 110 & Imperial-Ulster scout); a Sheffield made Schrade clip lock-back and a 1946-49 Camillus scout.:)
...
Dynamite duo, JJ!:thumbsup::thumbsup: What are the four little stamps in the bolster of the Schrade-Wostenholm? I have a stag canoe like that, and 2 of the stamps are obviously maker's initials, but the other 2??

Today would have been my father's 60th birthday. This morning I tossed his big ol' Klein lockback into my pocket, and I'm sure I'll spend a good bit of today chicken-eyeing, coon-fingering, and worry-stone-rubbing this big hunk of steel. Bummed that I have to work, but I'm glad I've got an excuse to carry his Klein outside today. Happy birthday, Bub.
...
That's a handsome knife to begin with, but the family heritage makes it SO special, Shawn!:cool::thumbsup:

Thank you, GT. :)
That was most enjoyable. They do excellent presentations and they're so entertaining. I shared it with my kids too.

Josh, I applaud your choice in cutlery. :) I’m going to get myself a copy of that book for certain! ;) One last thing my friend. If you had a piping hot slice of cornbread your meal would be right at home here in the south.:D
I did a decent part of my growing up in Tennessee so definitely still have southern influences to my cooking. I was frying green tomatoes a couple days ago.

I’m taking it easy. Planning on watching some football on TV later today and probably eating more than I need to! ;) I’ve got these two to keep me busy when there’s a break in the action. I’ve got a Rendezvous Special #74 Mustang with Natural Smooth White Bone and a 2018 Jack Black SFO Guardians Lambsfoot with Ebony.:)

Very beautiful pairing! If my husband had those he wouldn't anymore.

Aww, now I'm hungry and have to go make breakfast

Tennessee  Fried Green Tomatoes  That’s what I’m talking about!!!:D Thanks for the compliment! :D

That is a well set table, Paul!:thumbsup:

Thanks, Dean & JJ. :) I'm scared of the celluloid, so that knife is stored all alone on the top of a window frame in the living room.

Thank you, Gary! Celluloid is a problematic cover for knives. I had a relatively new celluloid knife made my Camillus and cared for it very well. I kept is separate from my other knives which is a great idea. I took it out of the box and paper one day and it was outgassing and rusting the carbon steel blades. I ended up throwing it away. Beautiful, but dangerous!
