What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

The 83 is a sweet pattern. Small, but not too small. I don’t know if it really needed to be a locking knife with lanyard hole, but no real complaints there. I chose to keep this version because of the jigging pattern. One of the few things that GEC does not do well in my opinion is bone jigging. This is one of the rare examples where I believe they created truly nice jigging.

I was thinking the same thing this morning...
John, @AnW, & @Mitt ,

I thought you might be interested in this discovery I made this morning. I've been walking a lot more since "the troubles" started, and I started keeping a list of locations of Little Free Libraries in neighborhoods through which I travel, mainly to use as knife photo locations. My wife sent me to return a book this morning at one of those libraries about 5 blocks from our house.
Here's the house and bookbox, quite nicely matched in paint, shingles, and even architectural style (kind of):

As I got closer, I thought, "What's that on the side of the box?"

Ever see anything like that before??

Pre-1930 due to spelling "Gillwell."

I like that pairing... A LOT! :cool::thumbsup:
Thank you, it's got a nice combination of blades.
Well I'd always assumed that the traditional name came from the flowing contours of the Common Roach, but now that you mention it, I think I might have seen LT in a Cheech & Chong film once ;) :D :thumbsup:

Nice choices my friend :)
It may have been named for a fish, but I can't block out the insect association.
Since this is Sunday I will get back to doing nothing because I never finished doing nothing the other day so I have chose to carry these 2 for @Half/Stop and @Pàdruig's benefit .

Oh, that is an absolutely beautiful fixed blade!

I like the #83 pattern too. I'm hoping they will do a slipjoint version in the future. :cool::thumbsup:

An amazing find, GT. :cool::thumbsup:
It would be fun to start one of those to see what kid of flies showed up. :)

Thanks Dave! :)

Okay Harry, thanks a lot! :p I’m also setting here doing nothing, well not exactly! :rolleyes: I’ve got a beautiful stag #43, but I’m actually wondering how I could justify the cost of one of those fancy fixed blades. :D Stay safe my friend! :thumbsup:

Maybe because you can not buy a new 23 and you Deserve a new knife and they may not be making any new Galago models and the prices just keep going up . Arno Bernard has been making some internal changes and there Site does not show that model or at least I could not find it this morning .

I'm sheltered in place with these two this morning. I've got my Case Bose Damascus Coffin Jack that I bought at the Case store in Bradford a few years back and I've also got my Waynorth Cutlery Jigged Bone Lambsfoot. :thumbsup: All in all not a bad pair to spend the day with! ;) Y'all be vigilant out there! :)

Super cool free library and Flybrary. :thumbsup: It could be a danger to small children, but fish hooks do come out from little fingers. And the experience would be a great learning opportunity. ;)

Added one today to the six I already told y'all about.

Clipped a Mora Classic Number 1 sheath (with knife) to a shirt button. The Mora rides surprisingly light I don't even notice it. No discernable extra weight on neck/collar.
No one has said anything ... they might not have even noticed. Dark shirt ... red handle is hidden by my beard (as in measuring a horse, the beard is only three hands :( ) ... what's visible almost looks like a short black tie.

I'm not sure yet how many days I'll be carrying 7 knives with a total of 11 blades.

Today my ten year old Granddaughter wanted to do some geo caching in the neighborhood, she picked out 3 that were all within a mile and a half of the house, nice day, good walk and we had to get out of the house. She wanted to take one of her knives and I said what do you need a knife for? Her quote “ in case I need to cut something” how could I argue with that. She picked out a really nice Trapper that she picked out of a GAW box, the knife was beautifully scrimshawed by r8shell r8shell . And I had my Lamb Foot.
