What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks Tim! They only made 27 of the #48s so there’s not many around. :)

That’s a shame, and a little hard to understand. That #48 looks like a great knife in the hand. That dogleg handle with the swelled end, like a Schrade, makes for the best and most secure grip, IMO.
You’d think they could have sold a bunch if they’d made more than 27!

We took a walk in the Kaloko cloud forest to get some fresh air on Sunday.
Nice, i should snag one of those in that lovely green micarta to match my Calf Roper. Oddly enough, they can still be had on the primary markets..
Totin this 1974 "Prairie Schooner". Built like a tank ,half stops and strong W+T. I'm careful with this one:)

Yeah buddy! Those American Story Bokers are all tanks.. the shields are a bit excessive for my tastes, but still, great knives. Always liked the big ol spear points with the long pull.

Schrade Walden 343, Charlie Bell Swayback and Case/Bose Slim trapper

Ooo.. Bose trapper. Very nice, the clip is ground in such a cool way.

Awesome knives, fellas.

Aw, that blade needs an 'open' pic.. very nice grind tease, tho..

Good show!

I'm glad you're glad, Alan.:) I hope you get many years of enjoyment from carrying it. (But keep your eyes open for a back-up, just in case the opportunity arises to "take out some insurance". ;))

A backup would be wonderful. Unfortunately there are very few known specimens. In all the wire jack forums, groups, and collectors this is 1 of 3.

Carrying these two together again today because I can and I probably will be inside all day . They just remind me that Very Nice Things sometimes come in Little Cardboard Boxes as if by Magic.

Harry
Okay Harry! All I can say is “Thank You” my friend! Little did I know when I read your post this morning what the phrase “They just remind me that Very Nice Things sometimes come in Little Cardboard Boxes as if by Magic.” actually meant! You really floored me my friend!

When Pam went to get the mail she came back in the door and said, “You’ve got a package!”. The first thing I said was “I’m not expecting a package!”, then I asked who it was from. She told me it was from Collector Knives. I said that is Mike Latham’s @knifeswapper store. I was about to eat supper so I didn’t even open the package. That should show y’all that I’ve got my priorities straight, when I put food over a surprise package from a knife dealer!

After I had finished my meal I opened the package. When I saw the contents I immediately knew it was from Harry! Sure enough when I saw the packing slip it said from “Old Engineer”. Just about that time my phone rang. I looked and it was Harry calling. When I answered the call I could hear Harry laughing because he knew he had pulled one over on me!

Harry, I really appreciate the surprise and of course I will treasure it! Pam said it best when she stated that she was impressed with the knife, but she is more impressed with the people that sent it! I totally agree, you and Nancy are wonderful friends.

non-Alox SAK this week is a Camper:

Bailed non-SAK of the Week is a Cannon with coping blade and anchor:

International Knife this week is my Opignel #8 with oak handle that my daughter bought me in Spain:

Hmm. When I actually posted the message, the pics showed up, so ignore this bracketed BS.
Edited to Subtract:
[I wonder why some of my non-photos are black and some are green? I'm going to tuck my laptop under my pillow and wish real hard and maybe by morning all the fotos will be fully fixed by the Forum film fairy! (Or have I possibly passed a picture-posting parameter?) A fitting end to a less-than-ideal day!]

Thanks Jeff! The #48 is a great knife. They could have easily sold several hundred if they had made them. In 2015 most of Great Eastern Cutlery’s runs were usually between 25 - 50 pcs. Times and demand have definitely changed in five years. :)

For those of you who do not know the rest of the story : The picture of my posting that Ron copied had a 2019 Forums knife in it . It and a Maserin were gifted to me by Ron . I know Ron was collecting knives when he was but a Lad and ran a Paper Route and has knives with all kinds of covers but probably no Wart Hog Ivory . Just taking care of a seen need for a Deserved Good Friend .

....... he was but a Lad running a Paper Route! That seems like an eternity Harry! You were exactly right my friend! No knives with Wart Hog Ivory. Not until today! Thank you again my Good Friend!

Thank you for the repost, Mr Gary. This thread develops rapidly, it's hard to keep up.

That's a really neat piece. I could see my mom buying one of those just to have something with warthog tusk handles. Good shape and useable size.
