What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Paul
I was just in "Old Knives" staring at your Empire, Summit, and Electric! Sir...you have some fine pieces of history.

Yes...its an old Schrade Walden I picked up. Has some beautiful covers on it. The Diamond Edge barlow is the only one I have seen with that stamping on the bolsters. I would love to see another one for reference if someone has one.

Elliot, its modern day bone like on your Case/Bose that puts Case light years ahead of other manufactueres in respect to jigged/dyed bone.

Kevin, I've had a total of six of the Case Bose knives at one time or another and the jigged bone has been excellent on all of them. Can't really speak with authority to the other current day manufacturers as my sample size of present day GEC's and Queens (by way of example) is relatively small.

I would love to see a return to the type and quality of jigging present on the vintage Winchesters, Robesons, Remingtons, Schrades and Imperials but I won't be holding my breath. ;)

I will not hold my breath either. I just love the peachsead jigging they do on the case bose knives.

Kevin, this is the only other example I still own...Not quite as dramatic but still nicely done. (And a great knife.) My other favorite was the muskrat which I traded away but I have a remedy for that coming in a month or two. I'll post something up when the time comes...;)

Thank you, Dave. It's fun to share with our friends and extended family.

By the way, that's a great old jack. I've got one that's seen a bit more wear but still takes a great edge and snaps like a bear trap!
