What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

It has been so long since GEC made any patterns that grab my fancy, (and the used ones have become so ridiculously expensive), I have been picking up a couple moderately priced customs.

I hope we soon see the 72’s, 73’s, 74’s, 47’s, 25’s, 35’s, 15’s, and some
of those other classics that pulled me into collecting. Of course it is just a matter of taste and many people seem to be content with their current offerings. And when do you think the bubble will burst on the secondary market? Or will it? I really don’t understand how anyone can justify spending in excess of $500 on a $100 factory knife! I read somewhere that is called a stupid tax. Sounds unkind but fitting. Our Exchange has become a hunting ground for the flippers who immediately list the knives on eBay where the taxpayers giddily pay up.

Those are just too cool r8shell! Looks like Mark did a great job.
Yes, he really gave those humble knives a "come up" (as the kids say) I hope he's doing well, wherever he is these days.
I love the knife and blue jay feather. The buggy thing, not so much.:D
I say the same thing about the lottery. We've had it in Texas for, oh, 25 years maybe? Haven't bought a lottery ticket yet.
My father, who teaches graduate level statistics, buys lotto tickets.

Thank you, Greg! Is your Schatt and Morgan on the left Rosewood? It's a sweet looking Jack.:thumbsup:

Yep its rosewood, Dean. Has a great feel in the hand, thanks for the compliment.

Today I carried these two. A Klaas large pen knife with some type of black wood covers and this older Remington jack in jigged bone. Both have excellent feeling blade action, good snap and blades that take a sharp edge.

Both are a pleasure to use and carry with smooth blade action, excellent snap and blade that take a sharp edge.

Don't take me so seriously! I know lots of smart people that buy lottery tickets. I just don't want to pay a voluntary tax! :p
No worries, I wasn't taking it seriously. I like to tease him about it, but he just shrugs and tells me I should hope he wins. :p I think it's worth a dollar's worth of entertainment for him each week. Like throwing coins in a wishing well.

r8shell, Mark and I talk occasionally and the last I heard (30-40 days ago) he's good. Running his own business, kept busy during lock down giving his house an upgrade no a "come up" and threatening to make more knives. Surprised to hear of your father buying lotto tickets with his understanding of odds. What are the odds of a statistically capable person doing that? ;) Hope you have a cool Tx. evening.:)

I agree. And after winning several GAWs in a short time, I considered buying one. Just haven't got around to it yet. :)

This week my sowbelly stockman is the first one I ever handled, from Rough Rider:

My "regular" stockman this week is the small model in this matched set of Chinese Imperial stockmans (thanks, Mark):

This week's "budget canoe" is like Christmas in July with a big Rough Rider holiday canoe:

"Premium canoe" this week is a Böker Beer Barrel Canoe:

That's how I always open them. I am right handed and keep my knives in my left front pocket (when I wear a belt sheath, it's on the right side).

Seems I sparked some interest with the knife opening query;) But I NEVER carry knives in a left trouser pocket:eek: coat maybe ;)

About your question on the Lionsteel screws, had mine more than 2 years, use it frequently never needed to tighten them or the main pivot, W&T is loud and excellent. Superb finish, not heavy either.

Lottery ticket and alleged tax on the stupid ;) well somebody has to win it and they won't be feeling stupid then :D As for all that statistics superstition and contrivance, more things than people would like to admit are random, unpredictable and beyond their control or 'choice' A casino is a mythical entity, you can walk in a mere pauper and exit a prince, even of darkness ;)
