What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I made it through every post in this thread thismorning without getting the dreaded "Are you sure you want to like this post" message. Yay!

That's my grail knife... Congrats on owning one.:thumbsup:
I used to work for an outfitter packing mules and horses into the mountains.............
.............You've got one too... Congratulations.:thumbsup:
The shield is priceless to those of us that have worked with those stubborn beasts. :D

When I was a boy I worked in tobacco in the summers - one of the first things you had to do was hitch that %$#@*& mule to the tobacco cart. Even then you weren't home free, sometimes they'd take a notion to take off in the field with the tobacco cart - and if it ever got loose you really had a problem. I sure loved it when the farmer I worked for went to all tractors. OH

Valuable life lessons for learning to deal with people. :D

Thank you very much, it is a very old Portuguese knife made by José Manuel Pires (J.M.P.) in the village of Especiosa-Miranda do Douro.
This craftsman has died, but his son (aged 82) continues to make beautiful knives.
It has a 7.5 cm blade, made of stainless steel and a 9 cm closed, with bovine horn hands.;):thumbsup:

One of the knives made by his son, Veríssimo-Miranda do Douro.

Thank You very much for the reply and the info. Beautiful and interesting knives.

I don't carry this Scagel Fruitport often, but it's a nice knife, so into the pocket it goes. I came across it while working on cataloging my accumulation. My wife asked me if the app I'm using has a function to provide a total value. I answered, "I don't believe so dear". I've since discovered since that I can export the files to a spreadsheet, with all the available spreadsheet functionality. I haven't mentioned that to her yet.:D
