I find it comfortable to use, Vince. The lock release does protrude from the handle but doesn't cause any discomfort.Beautiful Lag, Gary. How does it feel in the hand? Do you notice the back lock release protruding from the handle?
Thanks for noticing my Union Jack lambs foot and anniversary whittler, Dean.Great group, Gary. The photo of the Lambsfoot is very well done, amd a great gift from your wife and daughter!
Another great group, Gary! My favorite of these three is the whittler; it just has a classic look to it.
And thank you for your comments. I thought about getting the Buck 503 for months before I finally bought it. It's a nice size and different than my regular knife carry.
Holy Cow! What a beauty! This "old timer" accompanied me today on my fruitless search for the wiley ring-necked pheasant. Seven dot (1973) 63047 stockman. Beautiful calm sunny day, so I enjoyed my walk even without seeing any birds!

Congrats on that sunny Barlow!
Thanks, great description, I think it has a new name, Sunny!
Captivating couple of knives, Ron!... I’m carrying these two this morning, but I’m recycling photos. Y’all stay safe out there!![]()

I've never heard that one, Jack; that's clever! As a UK camping store used to say, years ago, Ron: "Now is the winter of our discount tents"!
That sounds good to me, Jeff!Thank you Gary. I agree, Ron’s a good guy. And he was NOT wearing shorts when we met for breakfast!
If you ever get a chance to meet another forum member, take it. One of these days, after this bat flu nonsense is behind us, and it’s safe again, and we drive through your area on our way up to my sister and bro-in-law’s Michigan hideaway, I’ll see if we can do a stop to meet you!
Auspicious pair of Barlows, Harry & JJ!
You're not crazy, Barrett, but I think you're unusual!I prefer wearing shorts around the house, even in the middle of winter. If I have to do something outside, I’ll do some quick mental math taking into account the temperature outdoors and the amount of time I might be out there to determine whether or not it’s worth changing. I have definitely worn shorts while shoveling snow (calm, sunny day around 30° or so, with boots and a jacket of course… I’m not crazy) and taken out the trash or grabbed the mail at -15°.
Good pairing, Jack!...
Hope everyone has survived another week intactPairing my Hartshead Barlow with an Old Friend today, a modded Opinel gifted to me by Lemmy Caution, (who doesn't seem to be a member here anymore
)

Wouldn't that be a dream-like ending to a rather nightmarish year?!?I’m not sure winter is coming this year. It’s still look/feels like fall outside here.
Ain't that the truth??so many stockman's', so few days...
Always a thrill to see that Schrade Barlow and its distinctive jigging, Dean!I carried this old friend on another hike today. Note the festive decorations on the trail.

That's a grand knife, Frank!Taylor-Schrade 93OT Wrangler has been in my pocket most of the week.
Sheepsfoot and clip blade in a jack configuration, and hits my sweet spot of 3 1/2 inches closed length.
The steel is 7Cr, so roughly 440A. Suitable for so many grubby daily chores.
If I remember correctly, this particular clip shape falls into the category of a "California Clip": long, somewhat narrow, and the clip starts almost at the tang.

Jeff, since you seem like a Schrade fan who would know, I'll ask you: why did they call that an IMPROVED muskrat??This is my weekly compliment to everyone on all the cool knives and creative photos!
I’m having me a good old time Schradurday with these Old Timers...
