What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

That is the kind of guy @paulhilborn is Greg . And as you can tell , he sure puts an edge on a blade . I did not think he would ever give up that VOOS .
They are some very nice knives .

Harry
Paul's good people for sure, Harry.:) The Voos sure is a fine knife and I feel honored to be it's keeper now. Also wish I had his shapening skills, I used it all day yesterday to cut some thick leather on some Christmas projects for the grandkids, what a slicer.

Thank you Greg:) Paul really hooked you up too! That Voos is a real stunner!

Thanks, Jon.:) Yep its a very nice example of an older, well put together jack knife that has stood the test of time. I'm grateful of Paul's gift to me as I know you are.

The knife came without the green skins over the hollow stamped steel handles - I made them out of some adhesive vinyl made for sign lettering.
Brilliant!

Brilliant, as usual.

I lost the 5K Qs 5K Qs quote, but I consider the broader than usual blades on a Schrade muskrat to be an improvement on the usual borderline awl blades on most muskrats.

Both are just so wonderful.:thumbsup:

That knife just keeps looking better and better.:thumbsup:

Fantastic Lamb, Jack. :cool::thumbsup:

Sorry that circumstances require moving back to a lockdown, John.
That's what happens when people don't want to follow the guidelines.

Highly desirable pair of knives you have there!
Thank you very much, GT. :)

Is that some kind of Christmas decoration between the knives, or is that a real, and VERY fancy, cookie?
If it were a real cookie, it would have a bite taken out of it. ;)

So nice to see Valley Jack again.:thumbsup:

More old quotes. In an attempt to get caught up, I'm trying to pick just one post from each page to quote, but sometimes my self-control disappears.

A Stockman for Saturday... Case Medium Stockman
Very nice, John (although I'm not a square-bolstered knife fan myself)!:thumbsup::cool:
Is that the same frame that the "small" Texas jack uses?

A beefy German stockman and a sleek Italian slicer for today's totes. :)
Cool euro-pair, JJ, and an average of 3 blades/knife is about perfect! ;):thumbsup:

I 'trimmed' a tree with a Vic saw once; there's a lot of sap in those pines!
That's the truth, Dean!;) I have old retired winter coats and gloves that I use only for going to get a Christmas tree once a year.

For Stagurday, I carried my Case bonestag stockman which my Dad gave me several years ago. It's a 'memory' knife and a joy to carry.

View attachment 1467762
It's a joy to hear the story and see the knife!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Carrying 2 Bulldog Tobacco Barlows today . Both Green Jigged Bone . One is curved and one is reverse curved . Also carrying the 2019 Blade Forums knife .

I always enjoy seeing that pair of curved Bulldog Barlows, Harry!:cool::thumbsup:

Meeting the chickadees.... a rite of passage for my knives :D

Your animal magnetism never ceases to amaze me, Dan! :D:cool::cool:
Congrats on the bright and cheery Forum knife!:cool::thumbsup:

My modified No8
That's a sublime Opinel; impressive mod!! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

I saw the old Case XX 6207 with snapped tip and had to have it. I could have easily used it as it was but I like a fine tipped blade. After a few minutes with the belt sander its very tippy once again, albeit a wee bit shorter. a very fine knife and a pattern I fancy:thumbsup: Re-tipped, sharpened, oiled and lightly cleaned up.

Just a jaw-dropping job on rejuvenating that jack, Paul!:thumbsup::cool:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I had a good hike yesterday, but injured my back getting over a broken stile, so no pics today I'm afraid, as sitting at my computer chair is painful. Carrying my Hartshead Barlow and Charlie's Black Jack. Have a pleasant Sunday folks
Sorry to read about your hiking misfortune last weekend and the lack of progress/improvement through the week, Jack. :(
I hope you get some substantial relief soon.:thumbsup:
It sounds like the actual accident was quite a wild ride! Any video available?:D
My daughter still finds much amusement in the several struggles I had in dealing with the Madrid Metro turnstiles when I visited her there 6 years ago.

I can't very well not carry the new brown Case XX.

Quality quintet of knives, and a very cool magnifier(?)!:thumbsup::cool:

Working on my phase angle with these

Acute angle you've created, Gev, using stunning construction materials!! ;):thumbsup:

Your schedule needs a re-shuffle. ;):D
Both are great, I think I prefer the pinned-through aluminum.
Yeah, that's an unfortunate "feature" of my schedule. :( I carefully put together the order of the knives within each category, but I pay no attention to how the categories relate to one another. (Kind of hard to track that since there are different numbers of knives in each category, e.g. 15 Alox knives and 10 sowbelly stockmans, so a given knife in one category doesn't always show up with the same "partner" from another category as I cycle through the category lists.)
Thanks for the comments on the Vic pen knives. :) I'd probably agree with you that the Alox-handled version is a higher-quality knife, but I personally am inexplicably drawn to the simple red celidor model (I have 3 of them currently ).

Stunning knife and photo, Alan!:cool::cool::thumbsup: (I don't write it every time you post it, but I think it.)

I like the SAK twins, Gary!:thumbsup:
I felt like a little orange today.

View attachment 1468281
Thanks, Dean. :)
Your orange pair is a great choice as we transition from fall colors to winter bleakness!:cool::thumbsup:

My trusty Old Green Bone GEC #66 Serpentine Jack was with me today.

No pics as they are no longer available.
Great to see you posting again, Andi, even if your photos are available!:cool::thumbsup: I can still picture some of them, like the green GEC#66, in my mind's eye! ;)

Having a Swiss Sunday. :)
And a superb Sunday (a week ago, I think) it must have been, JJ!!:cool::cool:

A smooth and slightly gnarly handled pairing today.

Superb pair, Greg, but if we're voting, I prefer the gnarly gnife!:cool:;)

Stag/Horn Knife of the Week for me since last Monday has been this 5" Marbles scrimshawed white bone leg knife with a stag spacer up by the pivot:

As nice as the new 35's were for the last Northwoods run, I have to say I prefer the first run. This pattern is much better (in my opinion) without the half stop. IRJ back in the drawer and the forum knife version in the pocket for today ;)

I like the auspicious Big Iron, Jeff!:cool::thumbsup:
Is that the original "white paint" label on the TL-29, or do you keep it touched up?

Electrician again today

Not the greatest photograph. Continuing with the budget friendly theme: The Swiss Army 1, to me is the ultimate gentleman or office carry.
@peanutsxx & @Trvr & @Fire King, the yeller Case pen, the Vic Electrician, and the Vic Swiss Army 1 that you've respectively posted are all admirable knives (and personal favorites of mine)!:cool::thumbsup:

I can't carry all of these in these uncomfortably cut lined jeans from Menard's.

I have many ways of expressing 2 words that will be advantageous in solving your carry dilemma, Jer! Fanny Pack, Butt Bag, Belt Bag, Bum Bag, Belly Bag, Hip Hamper, Sacroiliac Sack.

For today, I'm carrying this Case stockman with covers of G-10/carbon fiber and CV blades.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! ;):cool:
Fine photos, Dean and Joel!

Toting a couple composite covered jacks to begin the week. :)
Appealing color coordination, JJ, and I love the ancient regular 3-gon shield on the big jack!:thumbsup::cool:

This Old Cross Pioneer has been getting a disproportionate amount of pocket time of late.

That aged and alluring Pioneer could be your Knife of the Year!! ;):cool:

Today I carry this Victorinox Pruner in my pocket.;)

Aristocratic knife, José! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

You certainly have many astounding cutlery jewels, LT!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks for sharing pics of them with us here.

Morning All! Two for Tuesday with a Case 47 stockman and ebony Lambsfoot.

Voos jack, and 43 Oregon trapper today.View attachment 1469762 It adds interest for the viewers if you can include wildlife in your photos!View attachment 1469853
Awesome and august Voos, and adorable little camo duckie, Jeff!:cool:;)

Land Sakes, that's a laudable Lag, Vince, and that's no bull!:cool::cool:
I also like your Advent sig line. I don't think I've ever sung that Christmas hymn in Latin, but I (barely) remember enough of my high school Latin and English cognates (event, convention, invent) to recognize the phrase and its meaning.

Your and Charlie's lofty landmark lambsfoots are definitely lookers, Jack!:thumbsup::cool:

I like that Canoe, GT. The Sheepsfoot would be very handy.:thumbsup:
Thanks, John. :) I like canoes, but there's surprisingly little variation in the pattern, so I feel lucky when I get one with a different blade shape than usual! ;)

Feeling festive on this Wooden Wednesday...
That Osage Orange sure is a luxuriant lumber for knife handles!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Lovely Böker Barlow!

Shrade Walden 124, and Opinel #6 in what I think is ash. I’ve been working with American ash lately, and it sure looks like it. It could be oak, though~I don’t know if they have ash in France.
Grand grain on that Opinel, Jeff!:cool::thumbsup: I have an oak Opinel #8 that my daughter got for me in Spain, and I don't think the darker stripes on mine are as distinctive and "high contrast" as those on your example. (But maybe it's just differences in lighting.)

Glorious horn on your BF 2020, Jeff!:cool::cool:

Toting these two Juniper covered French cutters today. :)
Gallant, gleaming pair, JJ!:thumbsup::cool: I'm certainly taken with the Carmargue Cross on the bolster of the bottom knife in the pile. I may have mentioned this before, but I have a still-unused Rough Rider scrimshaw kit, and I should try putting that faith/hope/charity symbol on a white bone marlin spike I have.

Some wood for Wednesday.

Gadzooks, that BSK is a gem, Tom!:thumbsup::cool:

Glamorous quartet, José! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I believe you're right,Antique bone. I realized after I posted that the bone looked familiar for some reason. Went back in my pic files and found these 2 that I purchased as Christmas gifts just a year ago, I have such a poor memory. Tribal lock and canoe, such good looking bone.

Those antique bone Case knives with the threaded bolsters are gorgeous and groovy, Greg!:cool::thumbsup: That canoe especially floats my boat!
