What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

paulhilborn paulhilborn Back in 1990 I was in a meeting in Naperville, IL. There were a couple of guys there from ND. Being that I am a southerner I asked them what they considered too cold. The reply was that if the windchill was -60 degrees it was too cold. I can’t even imagine...

paulhilborn paulhilborn brrrrrrr! Several waves of artic blast are on the way. Coldest I have endured was Minot AFB ND ... when I felt the icicles forming in my nose from the moisture on the hairs, it was too cold. Feel sorry for ya, my old body hates the cold.

These are pretty nice, higher level of finish than other recent run wood GECs.

Good heavens, that bone is gorgeous!!

If its produced by wind, anything colder than 0 is too cold! Wind just sucks the heat out of you, cuts into you and its 10x worse.

-65f ambient(not wind chill) isn't too bad (especially once you've seen wind chill in the -100s... )But then, I've seen -100f with no wind... That is cold no matter how you cut it.

Suposedly getting into the -40s to -50s here next week, as Im house sitting and away from the collection, I'll still have this one on me then.

Your new Peterson is looking good, Dylan.(The knifes aren’t too shabby either. ;)) I have some decent pipes, but for whatever reason I never ended up with a Peterson.

That’s a really good looking little knife.

Nice little Buck, Paul! It wasn’t quite that cold when I had to stop and put gas in my truck tonight, but it was in the same ballpark.

Thanks for sharing, Harry! Do you ever buy tickets for the car?

I really like that slip that John made you!

I’m still carrying my BF TC. (Sorry for the not-so-great indoor photo, it’s cold out!)

Les, John, Barrett and Ice Tiger. We don't see the extreme cold Ice Tiger does, but I think the coldest ND temp was minus 60ish and I'm not sure they even had Wind Chills then??? regardless, after say -10 it doesn't make much difference (to me anyways):) The coldest temp I have worked outside in was -32f and don't even remember the exact wind chill factor because I had other concerns, like staying warm:D but one can dress for it and even make it tolerable. Certainly not enjoyable;)

Many that live where extreme cold temps are experienced, the term "killing cold" certainly applies:eek:

Beautiful Case there Les, and although cold I guess being born and raised here they say we're used to it...WRONG, we deal with it. Everything is harder in these temps. Just bringing in groceries is a chore:(

Thanks for the kind words Barrett . That is not a bad picture of your Forums TC . It is a very nice working knife with that Sheepfoot .
It is not nearly as cold down here as up at your place ,so we were quite happy to go into town a take some photos plus go to KFC for some take out .
We have never bought any of the tickets . I do not know why , we just have not .
Each of those slips are made very well and with each maker having their own style . As you can see , they are different sizes , which is great . One of these days , I am going to show my Collection of Slips . I am sure that I have a dozen or so including 2 of the Beer & Sausage slips . Size wise I can cover everything from a GEC 18 & 19 through a Grand Daddy Barlow .
Be careful in the cold up there my friend and stay safe .

Harry

Nice looking knife Paul and the photo of -17 F made me shiver .
Harry
Oops missed this Harry, thank you my friend. I have been after a Buck Solitaire and it's a nice knife. The fit and finish is top notch. The recent temps make me shiver as well Harry and the 10 day forecast has no relief in sight:eek: Like Barrett, it's always interesting to see the car on the ice pic's:thumbsup: be well Harry and hug Nanc for me:)

Happy Saturday everyone! Hoping you save some time for a little fun this weekend!

Case trapper again today, along with a slingshot I finished up this morning.

Nice pairing Mike :) Great work on that PF, well done  Does the secondary hole have a purpose?

Thanks Jack!!!

You've got some real stag goodness with your two beauties today; very cool ferro rod, too!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Toting these two Schatt & Morgan slicers today. :)

Thank you very much my friend, good to see those two old favourites again :)

@btb01 Barrett and Jack Black Jack Black both were wondering about the " Car On The Ice " . I think it has been on the lake for a couple of weeks , but today we drove in to get some pictures of it .

And since Saturday ends with a "Y " , I have Stag knives in my pockets . Northfield 55 and 43 and each one carried in slips made by @JohnDF and @sunknife

Harry

Thanks a lot Harry :) It doesn't look like the car is going anywhere anytime soon :D THat's some great-looking stag too, and I like your choice of pocket slips :)

Trying to catch up on a few threads here this morning. Been up since 3 and my anticipation is rising, my wife and I will most likely have a super bowl baby :). I know there’s a few Bucs fans in here, but go Chiefs!
Good luck to you and your wife! No day is sweeter than the birth of your child. Just make sure you keep that bucs game on in the background! Go bucs!

Side story- my wife went into labor during a chargers vs chiefs game a couple years ago. Labor lasted much longer than expected so we were able to watch the entire game between contractions. It was a great distraction!

Thanks Jack. The second hole is just a hollow pin to help keep it together. Two layers, mahogany backed with phenolic (micarta).

Nice photo of your Charlie Lambsfoot, and glad the weather's improving ;)
