Thanks, Jack. I've had the Beer Barrel Canoe for almost 3 years, but I own so many canoes that each one shows up in my weekly "show no favoritism" rotation quite infrequently.

Thanks for the SBJr comments, guys. I acquired that Sodbuster Jr as, I think, the second winner in @mrknife 's "never-ending GAW" and the dark coloring of the amber jigged bone was certainly a draw!

I initially decided when I got my first muskrat (a Rough Rider) that I didn't care for the blade redundancy or the large size, and ended up giving it away. At some point, I completely changed my mind and am now quite fond of a couple of Case muskrats I have and a RR improved muskrat.


Totally agree, John. When I found the Old Cross Pioneer, it already had most of its worn appearance, but I still think it looks fantastic, even if I really don't know the stories behind the faded color.


Is that an ebony canoe? Looks wonderful! I have several Buck canoes, but have never seen one in black wood!


I think a Churchill must be a knife sort of like some basketball players about whom announcers say, "He makes everyone on his team look better." I think any knife you pair with your ebony Churchill looks better by association!

Stationed at Whiteman AFB MO, 50 miles from KC, for 9 years. My best friend Shep (RIP) was a huge fan and gave me this shirt. 30 years worth of patina on the shirt, few years worth on the 1095. In the USAF my official term of address was either "Chief" or "Chief Master Sergeant". Hard not for me to be a Chief's fan.
