Just got back home 'bout 2 hrs ago and working off of 0.0 hrs sleep in the past 36 hrs... But for some reason I am feeling pretty spry after a good pot of coffee and the very fine prospect of doing a little Bass fishing with my friend Jaxx in his new Ranger bass boat, which is where I be headed off PDQ. :D :p :D ..

.. I am now equipping myself with the following KH-BP or Kerry Hampton -- single blade Trapper, in the knife department and I now feel well equiped..

.. I like the gun blue on that one Anthony

No Sir, navihawk, I opted not to go with a gun bluing type of coating or any other over-coating treatment with this, "from the ground up" project produced from scratch.

This particular hand forged custom knife sports pure 52100 ball bearing stock for her blade steel and an A-2 stock for the spring steel--which has superior endurance capabilities and resists stress cracking at the target Rockwell hardness of 49-50.. The 52100 has a very hi-carbon content along with additional chemical compounds that are highly corrosive and tend to oxidize in rapid succession in the climate where I reside and play.

Kerry and I took these facts into consideration during the planning stages of the slipjoint building project, and after some discussion, Tony Bose and Kerry Hampton wisely suggested executing a "Ferric Chloride" etch to both types of steels which potentially assisted greatly in solving the problem of oxidation during my hard use cutting chores.. That, along with some serious resolve and commitment on my behalf of a religious maintenance routine of cleaning and lubrication with some good quality virgin tool oil has resulted in my finest working slipjiont folder to date.

That KH-BP is sweet! I gotta get on Kerrys' list some time...

My main cutter, and EDC for over a month now(almost 1.5) has been the peanut (Case, circle C bluegrass bone, SS) it's been living in kydex I made it, hanging around my neck. -- Don't see many folders as neck knives, but it sure is nice if you spend a lot of time in a car or sitting. Good for working; automotive stuff, need to slice something, but your laying on the pocket with the knife in it.... Just plain hady to reach and draw it, and not have to dig in a pocket.:thumbup:

2 weeks out of town away from the collection proved that the nut will do everything I need a knife to do, so I didn't swap it out when I got home. I did get to feeling guilty about not carrying the custom hunter I saved/paid so much for, so it's been ridding along for about 3 weeks. But since the 'nut can do everything, the hunter only gets used about once a week for steak dinners

Today I'm carrying a Boker stockman with stag handle slabs and 440C blades. It's got some minimal fit and finish issues that only an obsessive knife guy would notice (one of the bolsters isn't perfectly flush with the scales, for example), but it feels great in my hand and cuts very well.

Plus, it's got a bit of sentimental value, my girlfriend bought it for me on our first trip together.

CV chestnut swayback by Case today. They have done an excellent job on this knife and I really like it. (I call it my peer pressure knife ;)).

Case Chestnut Bone Peanut in CV.

I really like the color of that green peanut Ice Tigre posted. My favorite color is green yet most all my slipjoints have some variation of brown or red bone. No green. A hunter green bone slipjoint would be nice to get to break out of the current color scheme.

Funny you mention it Tex, I'm a orange/red/brown kinda guy, my next knife will most likely be a Chestnut Bone Peanut in CV. That's the only green knife I have. Other than a love for the old dark green on Chevy trucks, I'm not into green.... I ordered that 'nut from a stock image that had more blue/teal in it... was a little disapointed in the color I got, but realized how purty it actually is-- been putting off getting something in the newer pocket worn green ever since. ;)

A Camillus trapper this evening. Non-stainless blades, but no marking to tell me what the alloy is. Might be 0170-6C.

Case Chestnut Bone Swayback Jack in CV.

I just can't get enough of this knife! :D

(Hey! I just noticed this is my post #444. Maybe that's a sign I should go ahead and buy that Marlin .444 I was looking at the other day...?)

Still have my KH-Trapper on my right hip but slipped this 9 year old RussLock in smooth Appaloosa bone in my slim-side tool pocket of my Dickies this morning for good measure.. :)

Case barlow 52009 1/2 ssp . Only made one year. Can anyone guess the year? They were made in sets. I believe they made 5.000. The serial number is high. The year was 1982. The blades are a little different than the new ones. The pen is shorter and the clip is fatter. A real nice knife. I found it in a surplus store that went out of business. It was new. Just needed some clean up and polish. Makes a good edc. The handle is stag. Love that stag.
